    Great comparison. I’m surprised that Hasbro/Takara doesn’t reverse-engineer G1 figures that they no longer have the moulds for and start making money on these designs. The KO companies have been making money on them for years.

      Yeah, I would love them to do that! Its said that there's no real ROI on it, but the KO companies seems to be doing well.

    Thanks for the side-by-side comparison. I learned allot form your video. Keep up the good work. Especially with all these KO's floating around out there. Awesome Collection!

    If you have original Reflector its a cool addition. The box is lovely. If you don't have original, like me, then its still cool to have!

    I bought one of Temu as well. With a little work mine ended up being pretty nice. A little filing the inside of some peg holes and a slight bend here and there of the die-cast parts and the fits are much better. For the price I can't complain. It has been one of my most wanted since I was young.

      Yeah, agreed, needs a little TLC and should fit fine.

      Probably a profound irony that all it cost originally was a mail-in voucher, 2 robot points, and $10 USD. Ofc, I suppose that's like 25 now, but still... xD

    I wonder if HasTak or a KO maker will ever release a "cartoon accurate" G1 Reflector that has Spectro and Spyglass having the same paint job as Viewfinder? Keep on being amazing.

    There are a few obvious differences original box is just a white box. The tree on the missle holder is different and I do believe original reflectors flash doesn't shoot missles. I have the original but brought this for the box cause I liked it. I put the originals in them

      The Box was just a white mailer in the US, in Japan they had a G1 style box. But it didnt look quite like this one. Its unique to this KO version. The box is very cool, and I bought it for the same reason

    Thanks for making this video. I had an original Reflector, but I gave it away along with some other toys to younger friends when I was in high school. I'd love to get another one for my collection, and these KOs caught my eye for that reason. I think I may go ahead and get one, even though they aren't perfect. It'd still be fun to play with them, I think.
    Also, I've got a question for you. Why do you think there's not a KO of G1 Megatron? I'm sure it'd sell like hotcakes. Is it because they'd have Hasbro, Takara, AND Walther coming after them? Or is it a mold cost issue? I'm just interested in what fellow collectors think. I have both my original G1 Megs and the 2002 Takara reissue. He's dorky looking as all get out, but there's a campy charm there that I wish others could experience.

      No idea why theres not a KO of Megatron (Yet). Maybe because he'd be harder to sell? They just KO'd the seekers so maybe he's coming? There's a few toys that would sell crazy well as KOs and I
      dont know why they haven't done them.

    My only real gripe with this set, for mine anyway, is Viewfinders legs are not pinned on and are relying on friction to stay on. From what I can tell in your video, it looks like this location is changed on yours slightly. But on mine, they can detach, which will eventually happen more often if I move the legs more and more. The pegs the arms are attached to can come off too, but that is a easy fix. To fix that just pull the pegs off and add a tiny dab of super glue to each rod and stick them back on.

    • @GhostPrimeReviews
      @GhostPrimeReviews  11 месяцев назад

      The tolerances are not great on this one. I need to sand down the pieces on the ends of the arms for Viewfinder, or enlarge the holes. The set does rely one friction for the legs. One of the joints on my vintage one is a tad loose, and likes to fall every once in a a while.

  • @blastvortex
    @blastvortex 6 месяцев назад

    Actually, the peg hole between Viewfinder and Spectro works just fine. It feels like a bad fit and takes a little coaxing at first, but like a bad Rod A into Rod Support B joke suddenly slides right in. (Yeah, I'm pre-emting you twists, FFS...) I think they just didn't want to make it too loose, smart for them since so many KO have issues. I only know because this particular KO is one of the few I might suggest on the cheap.
    I've been saddened by so many.... Larger ones like Scramble City, often trouble. Never combiners. Absolute $#@%, most of the time.

      The tolerances on KOs are all over the place. Some are good some aren't I did get the set super cheap!

      @@GhostPrimeReviews I admit to keeping a couple Aerialbots I shouldn't have. Vintage as a kid didn't fare too well, but I just couldn't stand it. Only one didn't break, no idea with that one. Usually an arm or head. Pop. Damn it. We all got issues.
