For everyone here I think the best message from this video is that for every rep that you do when you’re practicing must have a purpose. Such as the way he says there should be an imaginary defender. If you have no purpose as to why you’re doing these drills then you won’t be able to apply them in the game even if you perfect your touch. Keep working and working on your mind too, your touch and skill is not the only way you will become a pro.
it's all about muscle memory. You're not able to perform in game against opponents if you cannot perform these technics blindfolded. No matter if you picture yourself a imaginary defender or not. Look at Basketball players. They do the shooting drills every day to get the "touch" and form a muscle memory.
I definetly like this type of football content: simple drills, match relevant, elemental to improving your game. Compared to fancy flicks and stepovers, this may seem to be less cool, but this is relevant to players in all positions in every stage of their climbing of the ladder of footballing skill. So, thank you, Become Elite, I will most definetly be putting this into my freetime solo training!
Loved it when you showed your last fail, it means a lot to us, it shows that we aren't the only ones who fail sometimes, but its quite normal to fail a few times in training sessions, afterall these fails is whats gonne improve us...Thanks a lot..
These are very valuable drills. Remember Cruyff said that accuracy in passing is always the most important part of any game. Not power. Not shooting. Not speed.
I'm right now at intermediate level teaching my u/9 son the first touch. We have gone from basic ball control (aerial and ground) and we are graduating to directional first touches.
Matt Sheldon my youtube idol. Always making best videos I wish you make a video on best decisions you make in your football carrier. Or how to start football vlogging...
As a senior in high school I will be playing in a club for the first time in my life due to them needing players to even play. And I've found this channel very beneficial to me. I've played soccer in the past so I'm not 100 percent new to this but this helps out a lot
Focus on how you move your feet, not so much how you touch the ball. The best players take the fewest touches and make sure they're always in a responsive body stance. This combined with a constant awareness of what is around you will make you a solid operator.
I used to do this all the time at school and didn't know it was a legit exercise for soccer! I'd kick it at an angle and do my best to run to intercept it before it passed a certain line on the gym floor, starting from a good distance is a great way to introduce yourself to doing this. Get closer to the wall and/or widen the angle you're kicking at for more of a challenge, I think the back and forth can really help with stamina and is excellent cardio.
Guys just a reminder that even if you can do these easily, keep practicing them, the professionals have clean touches even if they’re having a bad day because they do it even when it feels easy
Bringing that close control from futsal to 11 a side can be a game changer FOR SURE! QUESTION: On the elastico, do you think it would be better to have a heavier touch to exit, and then reset? I'm thinking this would help you to explode into space PAST a defender, instead of a small touch which could allow them to catch up... Interested to hear your thoughts Matt!
i think it's more of a thing to do in a tight space when defenders are on you and you try to use momentum against them to get a little more space. but that makes sense too
Hi there, my name is Sasha. I have been following your RUclips channel for sometime and I appreciate the content you guys have been producing, so I wanted to thank you for that because through it I have been able to improve my game A LOT. I wanted to ask if you would be fine with one downloading your videos for offline usage? I wish to watch them offline as I am not always connected to wifi and with blackouts it makes it more difficult. I ask since these are your videos and cannot download them without your permission. I also wish to use them for purely analysis purposes and will not repost on youtube or anything like that. Thank you again for your work!
Nice vid! Really like deep dives into small details. In the elastico touch you said that you cant do the body feint in the same manner as the previous inside outside one which i agree on, but i would suggest that to make it as effective as possible you should really do the body feint before recieving the ball to try to act if as your gonna take a quite big touch so that when you the do the elastico its more that the animation stops that fools the defender than the actual elastico. What do you think?
How can I join a UPSL team Matt? I’m just curious I’m 21 and yes I want to go pro and I’m also trying out for community college soccer so I hope I become better
Hey Matt I have a problem whenever I do wall passes the ball always starts to kinda lift off from the ground or starts bouncing. How do I keep it on the ground all the time?
It could be because of the wall but if it isn’t than it’s probably because your hitting the ball to low or to high try to hit it rigth in the middle and focuse on your technic
Bro practice practice, that’s soccer, I used to have this problem till I realized the wall was just giving me a bad pass and I had to get better at receiving those “bad passes” practice like that more, it’s helps a lot, especially if you start doing one touch passing while it bounces, that feels good to master lol
That Bounce will help when you get a bouncing pass from a teammate. You will naturally position your body and your foot to keep the ball on the ground.
The drills is excellent but I couldn't take my mind off the fact that there's a TV on the ground and he's just passing so casually.. Like what if you take a bad touch and it hits the TV 😅
Matt im 24, I work like a dog especially for soccer. I love the sport so much. Im trying to sneak into the U23 Earthquakes Academy tryouts. Is there any way we could talk about my chances of making it? Im a defender and this is my passion. If I died and went to heaven this is what I would do every day forever. Can you help me Matt please im serious about this
How do you sneak your way into a team if anything starting off in UPSL is a good way to connect better then after good things can happen but I’m not the boss of you keep fighting
Love this Matt would love to see more of this type of content
I second that!
facts
Love it!

0:27 In/ Out shift
1:26 Elastico touch
2:44 Snap back touch
4:07 Inside - V drag touch
Wall drills have played a massive part in improving my soccer abilities and these are some great variations. Thanks!

Your leg muscles are crazy 🔥
Great video.

I’m about to go try these. Thanks mate! 👊
Matt’s legs are the definition of physique.
I'm right now at intermediate level teaching my u/9 son the first touch. We have gone from basic ball control (aerial and ground) and we are graduating to directional first touches.
I feel these are the best drills that taught me football
These small details are so important for the game
Great session and its great that it is accesible for anyone. You can find walls to play with the soccer ball everywhere. Good stuff Matt💪⚽️🔥
FOOTBALL 🥲

@@granitesevan6243 noted thank you
thanks for explaining the snap back... it does look simple but players like Kroos do it alot, check his highlights.

Early!! Please keep up the good work! I love these videos 👍
Guys just a reminder that even if you can do these easily, keep practicing them, the professionals have clean touches even if they’re having a bad day because they do it even when it feels easy
The wall pass to elastico is my favorite. If you want to make it even harder do alternating the elastico on each foot
Man the speed and accuracy,.. impressive. Respect
I just realised that Matt hasn’t had a video 500k views in ages…..🎉🎉🎉 Matt
Early man you inspire me so much to become good at soccer
I love your humility. 👍🏽

It’s supposed to be small so your foot doesn’t touch the ground
first time see : oh it's look easy
after 5min training : I hate my life
thanks for the drills. more of this complex drills plz🙏🏼
Thanks!

Great video Matt!
I think De jong uses that fake turn at 3mins
matt never skips leg day guys
I am from Saudi Arabia ❤️
30 seconds or 1 minute for each foot? Just wondering how you do the sets and reps.
1 min 2-3x each foot with one minute rest after 2 minutes of work would be best for most people
How can I join a UPSL team Matt? I’m just curious I’m 21 and yes I want to go pro and I’m also trying out for community college soccer so I hope I become better
Hey Matt we have the same TV mate
It's a really good video ⚽😎
McFred should watch this

It could be because of the wall but if it isn’t than it’s probably because your hitting the ball to low or to high try to hit it rigth in the middle and focuse on your technic
some walls are like that and the ball will bounce and u can't really do anything about it, u just have to find a different wall
Bro practice practice, that’s soccer, I used to have this problem till I realized the wall was just giving me a bad pass and I had to get better at receiving those “bad passes” practice like that more, it’s helps a lot, especially if you start doing one touch passing while it bounces, that feels good to master lol
Or it could be because the surface your playing on isn’t even but if you practice enough it will get better
That Bounce will help when you get a bouncing pass from a teammate. You will naturally position your body and your foot to keep the ball on the ground.
One question - what is the rebounder you use? It doesn’t look like part of wall. Yet very solid. Thanks
Its just the step for the door
nice video❤️
Very good
i love yuo the maan. yuo an good ⚽
Great content. Would be great if you could follow along in realtime though so can play video whilst you train. (better for children to follow)
What are drills you would consider to strengthen your weaker left, in my case its my left foot?
when practicing indoor, should I use smaller size ball?
3:26 when you receive a pass unaware...
I like walls or sofa ;) 👏👍
What should be the reps and sets for these drills?
I have a problem called shin splints can you guide me how to fix this problem plz
Reps?
Hey matt just wondering what futsal boots you use?
THOSE TAN LINES !!!!!
Los vecinos contentos
What are you using instead of wall??
🔥
The drills is excellent but I couldn't take my mind off the fact that there's a TV on the ground and he's just passing so casually.. Like what if you take a bad touch and it hits the TV 😅
Sets and reps?
The elastico should be super wide
How many times we repeat
Solid legs🔥
Keep it simple
How long for each touch pattern
И удары от стенки тоже лучше отрабатывать
What socks are those?
