    Amazing scope at $560 on a Amazon!
    I’ve been so happy and impressed with this scope.

    Using this link supports me and doesn’t change the price for the buyer at all.

    Awesome video! I am starting up a DIY lab and I'm in the market for an Oscope. Your videos have helped me a bunch. I am going to purchase a COTS Oscope from Rigol, Siglent or Hantek. But I will also buy a FPGA DIY scope for educational purposes such as Analog Discovery 2 or Red Pitaya. EEV blog has been really helpful. Would you do a video comparing the COTS scope vs the DIY FPGA scopes? I am an professional FPGA engineer but it looks like you are more of an Audio/Power EE.

      dpt4565 thanks for watching, and for the request. I am an analog engineer with only simple digital experience, although I did design a 4 bit slice cpu from an eeprom and gates once;). The siglent I have did come with the option for the logic analyzer. I think the Siglent folks are doing a great job. I think Rigol started off that way but have fallen behind with tech for the price, so they seem a bit expensive. Do you mean Commercial Off the Shelf; COTS?

    • @dpt4565
      @dpt4565 5 лет назад +1

      @@KissAnalog yes you got it. COTS would be something I could buy and use it right out of the box. I'm looking for something college students can use to debug microprocessors and FPGA boards.

      I think Siglent’s on the fly help menus would be great. I think you only need the logic analyzer option.

      Are there dedicated engineers towards FPGA today? However, that will be just software. Electronics engineers consideres FPGA as a component. Best regards, Civil Engineer in electronics since 1990.

      Thanks for this feedback. That is a great scope. Let me know if there's anything specific that I can help with. I have several scopes so should be able to show techniques that are common between them. I've done a few videos with a Keysight, so you can search Kissanalog Keysight and they should come up. My old Tektronix scope is dying so I've been looking at some of these newer digital scopes. Do you think this scope would be usable with vacuum tube audio equipment? Worried it won't be able to handle the high voltages.

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  5 лет назад

      What Tektronix do you have? I had a few or a bunch of them;) Do you use a 100x probe? If so, you can use the same probe on the Siglent.
      Yes, no worries! What you want to do is buy a 100x probe on Amazon. They are under $20. I just picked one up to do a review - maybe I can post that later today...

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  5 лет назад

      By the way - great question!! I’m a big fan of this scope - better than any of my past owned Tektronix. BTW, I still own a Tektronix...just don’t use it.

    • @Waltkat
      @Waltkat 5 лет назад +1

      @@KissAnalog It's a Tek 465. Lately, the trace has been disappearing on it's own. I don't know enough about scopes to go digging around inside. I've had it since the late eighties. Yes, I do have a 100x probe. If that's all it takes then great. Wasn't sure since I work mostly in vintage (well, not vintage to me, lol) analog equipment.

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  5 лет назад

      Waltkat I had a TDK 475 and then found a 485. I really was happy with that scope series. You could try checking the aluminum caps - that would not be surprising. It could be the power supply or the CRT ... eeks! You will really like the Siglent, with the fast refresh and deep memory, along with the ability to save - you will find there’s so much more you can do.

    • @Waltkat
      @Waltkat 5 лет назад +1

      @@KissAnalog Thanks for the troubleshooting suggestions. I may (or may not, lol) poke around inside the Tek.
      I am also considering one of the Siglent 1104 series scopes too. Not really sure of all the differences between the two though.
      I used a digital scope way back in the eighties when Fluke first released their handheld Scopemeter. It helped me track down a very fast, intermittent control signal glitch in a piece of industrial equipment at Xerox when an analog scope couldn't. The analog scope wasn't fast enough to capture and display it clearly, well, at least the scope Xerox had on hand couldn't. It showed up as a faint and blurry smear on the screen every so often so I wasn't sure of what I was seeing, but had my suspicions. Xerox management OK'd the purchase of a Fluke Scopemeter (really expensive at the time) and it was able to capture and display the glitch clearly. Saved me a lot of troubleshooting time. Unfortunately, digital scopes have been out of my price range for my own personal use, until recently. So I guess now is the time to buy one.
