Hello Defpom, thank you for the video, it helped me to make a decision, Just got my first oscilloscope today (I have worked with tektronix many years ago) ... over the moon .. thank you :)
Thanks for doing such a nice long in-depth messing around with the scope. I have one of these babies and it helped me get up to speed on a good chunk of the functionality!
-Matt
You're welcome.
Great review. Thanks a lot.
I bought this oscilloscope and I am very pleased with it. It is one of the highest quality items I have ever purchased!
Nice review - thanks
+TheDefpom Good job demonstrating this new Siglent model oscilloscope. I really appreciate your more detailed review in this part 2 video along with your thoughts and impressions that come from experience. Thanks
I was looking to buy a 200mhz scope. But this one might be the one over the Hantek.
Thanks for sharing. It made my decision.
I have one, and I am very satisfied with this scope.
I've got my SDS 1202X-E yesterday. It was a very spontaneous decision. I had the (highly praised) Rigol DS1054Z on my wishlist for many months now. But when I decided to order (some days ago), Siglent has just released this scope. The only video which was available last week, was the tear down video from Dave/EEVblog.
are you happy with your scope? I am pondering over buying this for a while. This will be my first oscilloscope.
Yes, but I'm not a hardcore user and my requirements are low. I just wanted to replace an old scope with a new budget-priced one.
Dave has an earlier video for SDS 1000X[ ruclips.net/video/gUz3KYp_5Tc/видео.html] in which he actually examines an SDS 1202X and compares it to a Ds1054Z that is extremely informative even though it was done before Siglent made the "E" revision. I found it very informative and it changed my mind about buying a DS1054Z to buying an SDS 1202X-E like you.
Any chance of a third video. Maybe showing an actual application. I've been using the arduino to learn my sds 1102 and just upgraded to this 1202x-e
So what oscilloscope would you get if you wanted the pass-through and the ability to read down to one hertz?
I have 1202X-E oscilloscope but i have not found impedance option after pressing channel. please help on this
Can it also be battery/powerbank powered?
I've been thinking about getting this unit. But pricing was...."illusive"
do you know the minimum voltage this scope can measure (at 200 MHz)? Many thanks.
Is there a way to decode the MISO and MOSI signals at the same time? Is the scope able to "recover" the clock from the data?
StarTrek123456 - not that I am aware of, it doesn't use the ext trigger jack for an input, so you only have 2 inputs available, so one for clock one for data, I did suggest to siglent that they allow the ext trigger for use as a signal, I don't know if that will happen.
cuanto voltaje max of means congratulation of video like
looks like the push knob same of rigol not so precise while clicking change parameter
Mirk Poli - I think it may be slightly better than my sds 2102 on that, it's a bit of a trade off between using a detented encoder (which would help avoid sensitivity when pressing) verses nice smooth rotational movement, I think I prefer it this way.
Great review. I am torn between this and rigols version. Which one would you recommend. I am into audio and rf.
I have never used a Rigol so I cannot really comment as far as that comparison goes, but I do like the Siglent units as they offer a good bang for buck ratio, and include good features by default such as the most common serial decoding types. Some are also documented for various hacks, which is an option for you if you are that way inclined.
@@TheDefpom I pushed the button on an sds1202xe abut 2 hours ago. I am panicking here as I am in the last 3 weeks of my eet course first year) and channel 2 of my hantek5102 decided to shit the bed on me. It almost looks like the capacitor has no resistance or little resistance to displace its charge and my 5vpp 1khz square wave looks like a shark fin wave. Anyhow Ill get it fixed later, I need a scope like now!!! lol ... I was told the issue could either be a shorted resistor or a blown/shorted fet in the attenuation circuit after the amplifier, I have no schematics for it and hantek wont give them out, talk about pissed off right now. Anyhow thanks very much for the reply and love your channel. My interests are right in line with yours, cheers from Canada
great video, this one or the Rigol DS1202Z-E 2ch?
Michele Bianchi - sorry I don’t know, I’ve never seen in the flesh (or used) a Rigol
Hi,
I bought the oscilloscope a week ago, but I have a "newbie" problem. I cannot see the signal on both channels at the same time. That is, if I measure a signal on CH1 and I want that same signal on CH2, I can't stabilize the signal on both channels, only one. Any ideas how I can fix this and stabilize it on both?
Thanks.
Scopes use a trigger event which is sourced from one channel (or an external trigger input if using that method), if you have two different waveforms on both channels only one of them will be used to trigger the scope and show a stable waveform, in the trigger menu you can choose channel 1 OR channel 2. you can set the scope to single trigger so it will stop after the first capture, that will hold both waveforms on the screen and show a snapshot of that capture.
Perdon for my english...I´m from Spain.
Ok, thank you very much for your prompt reply.
Yes, I thought that having only one trigger per channel, it would not be possible to stabilize both at the same time. I don't know if this is generic on all digital oscilloscopes. Analog oscilloscopes worked differently. In addition, modulated analog signals are shown "raw" without the need for additional adjustments in the analog oscilloscopes.
Thanks to your videos, I have been able to verify that to show this type of modulated signals you have to configure at SIGLENT so that they are seen correctly.
I will continue to learn with your videos. Thanks for your teaching.
A greeting.
No one seems to want to verify the 200MHz claim in the product title. What, in fact, does the 200MHz value mean?
@reeder 76 No, that's not correct. The analog -3dB bandwidth of the 1202X-E is around 300MHz. 200MHz is the flat bandwidth where you can make precise measurements.
@@UndulatusAsperatus I'm new to the world of DSOs, but I know a lot about older analog scopes. The bandwidth specified is the MINIMUM for the --3dB (.707) point. Many scopes (I'm thinking of the old Teks, here) are --3dB at a much higher frequency. But you know that the --3dB point is at LEAST at the advertised bandwidth.
do you like it, if so maybe order one monday
It worked very well, it was nice and responsive and did all the things I would expect, its bandwidth is excellent for the money too, plus theres the built in decoding functions at no cost, I think for the money you really cannot go wrong. There are Siglent haters out there, and I am not a "fan boy", I showed how it worked and in my opinion it is a good unit, it was a bit easier for me to get used to I expect as I already own a siglent scope, so was already pretty familiar with the GUI. If I were in the market for a new scope (without MSO) I would buy it.
I have receiv my sds 1202xe this week I am happy nice channel make more video. s from the 1202 thums up
I'm just about to place an order for one of these, the only thing I am a little unhappy with is the colours of the traces, I would have preferred yellow and blue instead of yellow and pink....is there a way to change those channel colors?
I wonder this too, customization of colors is not covered in review why?
Would this oscilloscope be good for tuning CB and HAM radios?
My question too!
Yes but would be an over kill.
Didn’t see application of X-Y Mode…Very elusive mode that’s hard to find RUclipss for Digital Scopes.
