Metallica’s musical integrity was questioned so badly when St. anger came out. But, those who criticized them failed to appreciate that Metallica was simply being who they truly were. They sold out to no one and played by their own rules.
Not exactly bud. There was Slipknot and System of a down flavored riffs and Nu metal scatterings all over that album. It needed to be of it's time (said the industry neck ties) Metallica's integrity was poisoned and the music suffered. Truth! ... (love St Anger Btw) it's not them 100 percent tho. At all
I remember back in 2003 , the hype for Metallica hiring Rob and releasing a new album was HIGH. Then they dropped the st anger video for the first time and it sounded nothing like their previous works . And people were like “huh ok….wait where’s the guitar solos?!?” So this album was a giant middle finger to the typecast they had put themselves in. They were ready for a new beginning
I've heard it explained that St. Anger has the bones of a potentially great album, but it was torpedoed by the creative choices made when recording it. The S&M version of "All Within My Hands" for example is stellar, but the actual studio recording sounds like a mess.
@Anthony Vannella I personally think AWHM (original) is one of Metallica's best songs. It feels so strong, raw, energetic, genuine. I wish they'd play it that way live.
@@myringains For me it's mostly the production/mixing, and of course the meme worthy snare. When they played St. Anger live in 2019 or so I was like, "Ohhh, that's how this is supposed to sound."
@@zososound make extended version 😅😅♥️🤟 ive sent this to all my friends who are hardcore metallica fans, even shared it in metallica james hetfield fan club on facebook. I want their neck hurt as much it hurts mine from all that non-stop headbanging 😝😂
Well, if anything this proves that st anger is hot garbage because of those reasons you mentioned, this doesnt change that in fact it only highlights what could have been
Of course, have a lot of money in the bank, beign so lazy, no more creativity and inspirations. It have been the worst case scenario for this band, and still to this day.
@@Heisenbinks a good song is always a good song, even under the worst conditions. Hetfield is a riff god, so there's plenty of great ideas on St. Anger. Unfortunately, they were never properly realised due to sub-par lyrics, boring drumming and repetitive arrangements (I'm looking at you, Lars), as well as sloppy, wah-drenched improvised solos and boring bass lines. I'd like to see James and Lars work with Flemming Rasmussen, Bob Rock, Dave Mustaine and Jason Newstead again. They're all too comfortable in how they are currently working while in the studio, so bring the best of the best from Metallica's history back and forcing them into an uncomfortable situation might spark the fire of what made old-school Metallica so good
this however is not a good effect mostly due to differences in the sound production, it was toned down on purpose, same about that it didn't use the standard tuning, its more than just a tone up. Another thing is that there were lots of "gloomy" songs like that effect back in the days, that doesn't make the song necessarily bad. Stoner metal is not a worse genre, just a different genre
Its really funny. all these channels doing these old Metallica tones with newer Metallica songs.. it goes to show that Metallica have never really changed.. granted their newer albums are over produced and mixed all wrong..

HOLY SHEITTT
🤟🏼
JESUS CHRIST
Sepultura?!
morbid saint vibes
I don't care what tone is used on this song, this is a wild, hold-onto-your-balls ride at breakneck speed with no slowing down and I effing love it!!
This goes hard
Shows Metallica still writes great stuff
This is absolutely mindblowing! I've been saying since 2003 St. Anger is amazing from a composition standpoint.
you know its a good day when the algoritm delivers like this. Keep up the good work
this cover actually looks good

As someone who loves Metallica and hates St. Anger, I completely agree.
Well said. St Anger has a special place in Metallica's discography and it's cool as fuck.
Sublime, lo dije este disco es solo producción, tiene unos temazos, con los solos y un sonido como el del black álbum quedaría brutal
Con el sonido del kill em all también hubiese sido tremendo
This is why I say they would have re-recorded St. Anger. So many great riffs bogged down by some questionable mixing.
Please do the whole album.
If St Anger is "the worst album ever" I don't see how this could have derived from it. Great shit
Well said man

this is a slap in the literal face its that good
Good tones make difference...
truly what if frantic was on master of puppets
I always thought that there were some redeeming qualities to St. Anger, and this proves me right. Right idea, wrong execution lol.
Nothing wrong with St. Anger my dude. Had a new band dropped it, everyone would love it.

The harmony guitar (or whatever it is called) in the chorus is wonderful :D
This is so freaking epic it blows my mind the intensity of it now the rest of st anger done up with original voxs
They didn’t slave a JCM800 as has been often reported.
James rhythm sound was the straight Boogie.
Confirmed by Fleming Rasmussen himself
I did in fact use a Mesa Boogie. Copied the description from previous videos and forgot to change it 😅
James did use 1960 marshall cabs though. Pretty sure about that
Beau tiful!
Played at 1.5X speed is SIC!!!
The riff at 1:06 at that speed is basically Damage Inc's verse riff.

This should have been it right here! I absolutely love this!
Wow! A much better version!
You wouldn't happen to have a tab for this would you? Cause this is truly amazing.
Unfortunately not because I kinda improvised it as I recorded. But really it's basically the same as the original just everything two steps up.
@@zososound Ah I see, with a few changes of course.
Use your ears!
Just learn Frantic with tabs online, then tune 2 steps up

awesome, mate
can you do the whole album? cause this is EPIC!!
"Puppets in Anger" or "Frantic Puppets hehe. This sounds great in regular dropped D (y).

You put "Standard Tuning" in the title, but the snares are the real good thing here 😅

Would love to hear your interpretation of the whole of St Anger with MoP, or Black album production and vocals.
🔥
Release all St Anger like it, with James vocals on steroids
Much better!!
St. Anger IS a great album, would be turn so cult one day like Sabbath's Born Again and The Elder from KISS
Stop kidding yourself. That album is a dumpster fire and a half.

maybe skom in black album tone or master of puppets tone
Turn the speed up to 1.75! Sepultura/Sarcofago thrash!
The only thing missing is the wanana lyrics.
Shows how important TONE and MIXING are. This actually sounds good unlike the original one
Really cool. Waaay better than the original. But it still wouldn't have made it onto MOP
We need the AI vocals now bro!
I dig the tone, but there's things that tone can't fix. The arrangement is still where this suffers.
Add a solo and will be perfect
I was trying to figure out why I like this then I realized there are no vocals in it

Technically yes, but Metallica was not going for that. They were going for pure raw anger. And they achieved that.
