I remember when I was in high school Yellowcard was one of the first bands I saw live. It was middle of winter and I was waiting outside the venue for tickets being sold. Turns out they sold out right before I was able to buy a ticket, this dude saw that I was wearing shorts while I was waiting outside, he let me warm up in his van. Well turns out it was Yellowcards van, the dude wasn’t in the band but was on the road with them. He ended up getting me inside for the concert. It was pretty epic. I didn’t get to meet the band, but still, a cool experience nonetheless.
I saw them at the first show I went to. They were opening for AFI, and I think it was not long after this album came out, but could be wrong. It was an amazing show though. Both Yellowcard and AFI drove the energy in that show straight to the roof.

This song came out the year after I graduated high school and I swear nothing takes me back like this does. It’s the perfect song to sum up my feelings of moving on.
When a friend first introduced me to Ryan & Co. of Yellowcard, oh man, I immediately fell for their lyrics. This rendition isn't the original, but it brought me back 15 years ❤

Apparently the electric violin is what made the original song great.
Demon Intellect the violin definitely enhanced it. It was the culmination of the right people, styles, and emotions.

Agreed. Without the EV it's just like any other covers out there. The EV of Yellowcard is one of the defining thing that great band has.

Semantic Samuel it is for the show. For the music video. Actual performances have their straps set high enough for them to at least be able to play it right and hit the farthest string 😂

More punk and rock bands need females vocals. There's an almost angelic quality that a feminine voice brings to these songs. Love the original, but this is great too. Good work.
I agree but a lot of people don’t like change and pop punk is a genre it’s fans take very seriously and they might not be on board like really not on board, but on top of that punk is all about rebelling
If you haven't yet, I would recommend checking out Halocene's cover of this same song. It gets the same cool aspect of feminine lyrics on a punky song, but it doesn't have so much echo and autotune, which (to me) detract from the spirit of the song.

yeah i have to agree on this... the thing that makes Ocean Avenue such a great song is the high pitch parts, which bring a lot of energy to the song, and the way she sang this kinda flattened it
@@evdboy2 Yeah there was a lot of potential for this song. It really is such a dynamic piece that it honestly defies a simple cover and begs to be emoted.
