    I am deeply appreciative that China would refer to herself in terms of Democracy because it's not always represented well by others. The example that comes forth as Best are the expressed spirit of People, their innocence and strength with courage. Thank you for believing in Democracy and giving up on the concept of balance, love of People, Blessed by GOD ALMIGHTY. President Xi jumping Has Been To The Mountain Top.😊

      American (presidential) democracy shouldn't be lumped in with parliamentary democracy. 😂
      The former has devolved into dictatorship at some point in all but one country so far, the latter is more stable and democratic, especially with proportional representation.
      As far as a govt with judeo-christian values, it seems counterintuitive, but biblically speaking, the closest country with this political system is Iran (vetting candidates for religious values, a Supreme religious figure [a national and politically activist islamic pope], and laws crafted to model their ideal religious society).

    People-centric governance that caters for the collective people's wellness is a welcome institution of government. The government and all its departments work to serve, not to lord over, the needs of the people.This would lead to make the country great.

    In the Anti-Federalist Papers, consultation was discussed and supported. But in practice, the guy is right on “competition and confrontation” and “power for the sake of power” in a powerless and exploited society with little benefits and lots of debt.

    Autocracy is distinguished from other forms of government by the power of the autocrat to unilaterally repress the civil liberties of the people and to choose what liberties they may exercise. It is distinct from democracy and feudalism, and modern autocracy is often defined as any non-democratic government.

    Democracy works when the guards stay on watch 24/7 , China has too many People to chance not having guides that insure qualitative lives that are meaningful to each person, each community, and always remember to keep looking up to the Heavens. The Concept of Christianity fits well in Oriental Society because they are about knowledge that improves life all around. A Christian Community makes sure there are good clothes, food and other necessities available to those who are in a working progress. To reflect their culture of "leave something behind" for those who may be not so fortunate at the moment. Congratulations!!!! To say Democracy, to demonstrate and to just belt that supported good People can lead everywhere. I am most Happy for you, for you recall the steps of an old friend and you honor them.❤

    Here is what democracy delivers in the most powerful and richest country in the world: Economic inequality, inflation, stagnant real wages for the last fifty years, costly healthcare, an expensive education system, student loan debt totaling $1.7 trillion with an average balance of $38,000, poor public transportation systems, racial inequality, mass incarceration, the militarization of police, deteriorating infrastructure, housing affordability, homelessness, the opioid epidemic, and gun violence.

    I wish China would deliver a government to every people that actually gives ethnic groups stability in their own homelands. Seems like democracies have become entirely coopted by private equity firms for goals completely alien to the host populations.....
    Nations are going to be destroyed at this rate 😢😢😢😢

    It's very interesting, but I think it would be more efficient to prove your point if you invite opponents as well... Without the counter argumentation there's no discussion and it just feels like propaganda. But if you have opponents on stage then you can better show the strength (or weaknesses) of your own arguments. You can never convince western listeners without this real debate form I think

    International rankings. China is considered internationally to be amongst the least democratic countries in the world. It has consistently been ranked amongst the lowest as an "authoritarian regime" by the Economist Intelligence Unit's Democracy Index, ranking at 156th out of 167 countries in 2022.

  • @Kaede-Sasaki
    @Kaede-Sasaki 7 месяцев назад

    To go on the point that David was making: you don't need to be a democracy to become developed. Just look at South Korea before 1988, especially under the Pak dictatorship.
    The key to prosperity is capitalism. If you have a 100 years and hardly any examples to go off of, mostly free market (US, UK); if you have examples and equipment and want to do it fast, state guided capitalism (South korea and japan). The form of govt is not relevant except that it must not intervene too much so that it scares investors and property owners (who would then pull up stakes and go elsewhere). This is probably the issue in some african and South american countries.
    After Mao, the economy was reformed into a state guided capitalist system (socialism with Chinese characterstics) and then it went from famines and poverty into prosperity.
    Not judging china here, just pointing that out.

    • @Kaede-Sasaki
      @Kaede-Sasaki 7 месяцев назад

      And, if I may, the level of democracy is different. In japan or the US, I can criticize not just minor policies, but major platform policies of the current leadership and even the person (of course, if i can "dish it", i must be able to "take it" as well). I'm not sure, I only hear Western and Japanese media on this, but can you criticize the current president and his major policies and even the founder (Mao)? I appreciate the more respectful discourse, but I don't hear much in major criticism. I never hear, for example, "the president is making a terrible mistake. This law he sponsored and these policies will bankrupt us/lead to mass arrests!"
      Apologies if I offended anyone. I am genuinely curious if that is possible. I never hear that when watching cgtn.

    • @Kaede-Sasaki

      I rather like the idea of the CPPCC. If I were making a political system, I would have that (sortition for seats from various occupations, interests groups advocating for their members [pets, lgbtq, children, families, environment, disabled, etc]). They would draft referenda that would be discussed and debated on tv/youtube. Everyone would then vote on such. I'd definitely have a plural collegial executive like Switzerland. Maybe professional administrators as long as accountability and removal was allowed.

    China is for me a great country..
    However I have not forgotton Tianaman square ...
    While I can understand that perticular turning point in china's path to progress..
    I was living in the west @ that the capitol of Germany @ the time ..
    Being from a still developing country as sri lanka .. ' the western experiences were of exploitation where I was taxed by the germans extremely unfairely while working for belgians for an Australia company 40% owned by british aerospace
    'The west is a scam .. period .
    I left Germany in 93 because my intuition told me the west was headin straight in to the eye of the storm of a shit show for them & all their allies...
    I'v never been to china .. but am hopeing I will be able to do so sometime soon ..
    I need to connect with chinese people who are conversent in english ..

    Even ai can think smarter than the current racist western nations that have enslaved small nations around the world for the past decades after ww2. I don't care whether it is a black or white cat, it is a good cat as long as the cat knows how to provide a better future for its people and the cat doesn't create war around-the-world by killing other mankind that share this precious world that we all share.

    Great to see Prof. Xia Lu & Miao Xiaojuan bring intellectualism into the discussion of what democracy entails - and how China's democracy is based on accountability, whereas American democracy is based on campaign promises and show of conflict btwn "Left & Right", unfortunately here in the US there is only the spectrum of rhe Far-Right to the Fraud-Left; their understanding of Chinese Democracy amounts to little more than crowing at the Guns N'Roses album of the same name... it's great how Xia Lu brought up the 'Taiping Rebellion', bcz the USA+EU's despotic attachment and promulgation of Zionism is as if Hong Xiuquan - the self-proclaimed "God's Chosen One", had won his conflict against the Manchu Qing, and China today is under the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, but it's the West langushing under their "Taiping Heavenly Kingdom" (Zionism). 🫨
