This video and another that I’ve recently watched has given me virtually instant progress in my squat. I’ve been doing soooo many things wrong! Thank you.
Why do people say A-D-ductor? The best video i've found for the Starting Strength squat. I've read the book and it is packed with info, but your video made it simple and concise. Thanks
The idea here to emphasize hip drive right? with weight the body moves as a locked in unit? Utilizing the stretch reflex. The hips drive but the back should be stationary on the ascent?
If you look at this channel's 30 min video on Deadlifting, or just search for Starting Strength back extension, you will find insutrctions to learn to keep your low back in rigid extension and learn to over-extend it if you don't know how. The problem is your low back and your hamstrings are always fighting to keep control of your pelvis, and you want the low back to win
Its mounted too high on your spine. Wrap your thumbs overtop of the bar and make sure the bar is low enough on your back to the point where you are more concerned with the bar slipping off the back towards your butt then rolling over the front of your neck and head. It will feel either much more secure or a little awkward at first and more stable after a couple reps.
The desired effect is when she has the barbell on her back. As stated in the video, the hip drive was exaggerated for a teaching affect in the air squat.
@@thestrengthco Ok, thank you, I am just trying to figure out when to stop pushing up with the hips and when to drive forward so that it is not a good morning squat. I was getting pain in my hip joints that I believe was from doing the form wrong.
This looks like the squat someone would do if they lacked core strength but it's being done on purpose? Can't say I'm a fan of this two-part ascent. If it works it works I guess but it seems suboptimal and like it opens doors to injury that need not be open
This coach is fantastic
We like him alright.

Gotta love a good squat camp!
I wish we had Rip's gym down here in Brazil!
Form points from the best!!
Lift Hard. Squat Easy.
Yeah Buddy!
Most "PT"s can't talk about a squat for 45 seconds. Grant did a whole lecture on it while coaching it in less than 15 minutes.
We call that a Filibuster
Excellent video
Thank you for the instruction
damn nicole dont miss any squat days
Nope. Not with a dump truck like that!
it's called faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
Outstanding 👌
Thanks Marine!
GREAT STUFF !!
Amazing useful video! I have a question, how to remove that butt wink at the bottom of the squat?
Before this, I knew squat.
Now I know how to squat.
What about Jack Squat, Josh
Detailed coaching!!!
Great info! But the Nicole is gorgeous as hell!! Great choice for hip drive!
does hip drive mean that i should come up with my hips faster than my chest??
isn't that going to cause an injury??
No. You set you're back angle as you break at the hips and knees. You maintain that back angle as you drive the hips up.
@@TheHaiku2 thanks for clarifying
also having your hips rise before you raise your chest does not automatically cause an injury.

@Richard H. I guess that makes sense, to stress clarity.

The horiziontal back angle should be kept for the majority of the ascent
7:15 Valsalva maneuver
How do you keep the back from rounding even when you’re parallel?

1:05 hold it there for a minute
Why do I feel like the weight is pushing my back and face down ??

Thank you very much
Buenísimo!!!
The air sqaut and bar squat were entirely different form. Which is it

What is an "air" squat? It's just called a squat
@@jasonpletscher1744 you do not drive forward at any point in the squat. The movement is vertical, not horizontal
@@Francesco-cj3oi Watch the video, I am using terminology He was using.
I have been doing this wrong for a long time. Bad thing is I coach all my kids wrong too. I was ignorant now im not thanks.
good skrots

You do not understand how physics work
Try it dude or dudette
It's a deadlift with a bar on the back.
No it's not, unless you're doing stripper squats 🤣
You have been doing deadlift as if they were squats, that's your problem
You can't spell strength without tren.
This is true.
Besides the point, but girl cute as hell
Thirsty…. Sad AF bro
She is
That butt-wink though... looks like a squat-morning
1st percentile comment.
WE like lifters to squat in the morning...
Yeah that's just how low bar squat looks. It's ugly. Personally, high bar feels better but whatever works for you.
Good instructional video. But references to 50+ yer olds and accompanying animations around mobility issues were superfluous
