    Makes me happy to hear that your son requests healthy meals like that and also overall my mom used to cook like you when I was growing up- lots of veggies, dals, beans, and I am grateful to her for instilling those healthy meals. As an adult I cook the same healthy meals and enjoy them and don’t struggle to eat well vs my friends who hate making healthy meals because they grew up with packaged and refined processed foods.

    I used canned tomatoes and canned black eyed peas (beans) and subbed out chard from my garden for the potatoes and it is delicious. I’ve made so many of your recipes that I can mix and match ingredients with confidence.

    Black-eyed beans and potato curry. In the video, after the potatoes have cooked, you mentioned chopping up two red onions . I am not clear when you add the red onions. Wonderful recipe and video. Thank you for sharing. In my early life, used to visit my grandparents and aunts who lived in Bombay in Bandra. You are a great chef, thank you for sharing.

    I wish you would have these kinds of easy recipes in your cookbooks. I bought some of your cookbooks, thinking they would have the kind of easy recipes, that don't call for a trip to a specialty market. I know i could print the recipes from your website, but i have to get my printer going.

    @6:00, you
    showed two red potatoes, and
    said two red onions, you realized
    you made a mistake, and added
    a caption to correct it, and the
    caption reads, "two red tomatoes" 🍅
    😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
    You should actually leave it that way! It'll give someone a good laugh 😂.

    Hey! Thanks again for sharing this simple n easy recipe. I'd like to share a few tips from my recipee: = 1) add turmeric, few curry leaves and a Cinnamon Stick whilst Boiling. It enhances the flavor n aids digestion.
    2) The usage of hot water keeps the masala flavors intact.
    3) before adding the boiled beans to the masala, crush a handful to thicken the gravy. The same could be done with the potatoes after cooking.

      Yes you can. You might add a bit of tamarind paste or squeeze a lemon at the end to mimic the sourness of tomatoes.

    Curious, what's the price of fresh tomatoes these days in UK. Between $2.99 to $4.99 / lb in my section of Canada.

      Quick look at 2 mid price supermarkets (i.e. not Aldi) for large tomatoes (not cherry/salad): 95p (basically £1) with no vine or £1.19/£2 with vine (regular shop own brand vs expensive shop own brand). Apparently £1.19 is Aldi price matched.

    I don’t know where where this fad of putting subtitles on parts of videos started. For someone like me with ADHD, it makes the video unwatchable. Please consider not using them in the future (except for ingredient quantities; that’s useful). Might save you some time, too!
    The curry does look lovely, even though I had to watch most of the video with my eyes closed.
