@10:39 This is something that I did not know, that Muslims used astrology to know in which direction of Mecca. It’s astounding when religion and science are used hand-in-hand.
Astrology is NOT a science though, it's a pseudoscience. A science explains things, astrology does not explain anything. They simply studied the positions of stars and motion of the Moon to figure out when to start fasting and which direction to pray. It's like studying geography (natural features like tall mountains, a lake, river) when traveling through a region so you don't get lost.
So, this is a very good video. As you noted in the last video, Islamic scholars basically viewed themselves as extensions of the Indian, Greek and Iranian scholastic traditions. The Arabic/Indian numerals came into being through translations of astronomical texts. After the Ummayyad conquest of Sindh under Muhammad bin Qasim, Islamic scholars entered into a two-way exchange of ideas with Hindu scholars. This is especially true in medicine and astrology, since, at the time, South Asia was considered to have the best doctors in the world. If I'm not mistaken, the number system was introduced through the translation of astrological texts, namely the Brahmagupta Siddhanta. This translated corpus was known in Arabic as "Zeej as-Sindhind." According to Kitab al-Fihrist (an ancient catalog of Arabic texts) the libraries in Baghdad held translations of many key texts that were translated from Sanskrit. This "Zeej al-Sindhind" (Sindhind is a misanalysis of the word "Siddhanta") was used to develop much of Islamic astrology and many of the Islamic calendar systems, including the Jalali calendar. This isn't a hidden fact, since many medieval Islamic scholars (e.g., Masudi) praise Hindu scholars. Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of the scholarship on this topic is published in Arabic, but it stands in stark contradiction of how Hindu-Muslim relations are portrayed historically. Also, as a side note, the "Tajika Shastra" ("Tajika" is what Indians called Arabs during the early Medieval period) is a collection of astrology methods that were translated from Persian and Arabic into Sanskrit. These methods are now widely used in modern Vedic astrology.
Thumb up for the writing font of latin letters with arabic letters style ( the arabic T replacing the latin a or o and the arabic Y replacing the latin S). There is much creativity and knowldege put into making this font. I insisted in pointing this out since this info may not seem obvious for everyone. Fun fact, in the arabic language another set of numerals called indian numbers is used while in latin written languages the arabic numerals are used. When we had in math exams "write the solutions in arabic numerals" we students were totally confused in which set of numerals to write the solutions since we learned maths in French or English which used a set of numerals different from the arabic language while ignoring that numbers in French or English were called arabic numerals. it isn't a fact. It's still a theory. That Muslims want to overstate as *a fact* to try and make Islam (which even in the theory wasn't the result of Islam but despite of it) fit into a modern world.
So no,...
It played a part in through the exchange of information but to say there wouldn't be one is a bit far fetched. Since it's mainly attributed to the transfer of Greek/Roman texts, traders, and scholars that left the Byzantine Empire to other Christan states. Persians / Iranians have offered alot to the world. the world should be thankful.
Exactly... almost all islamic Hadeeth collectors and scientists were Persian.

Rumeysa Well kinda, Bukhari was Uzbek.

More videos like this please! Great stuff! I was especially pleased when you said arabic numerals comes from the Muslims, and I was like no but wait it comes from Hindus first, and then you confirmed just that! I really enjoyed it, thank you!
A magnificent documentary. My appreciation for the revealing knowledge and facts being put together. Those who come before us, amaze us more than I could imagine due to their lack of technology and information back then, they manage to invent cutting-edge technology and formula that I can only dream of.
Thank you for another informative and entertaining video :)
i was waiting for this, was looking for the next episode on your channel yesterday :D
After a month's dose of your videos now my teacher begs me to stop history on islam. Such a satisfaction to see those moments.
ppl hates Islam with apparently no reason. It is not surprising if your teacher do so .. These kind of ppl develope a hate towards Arabs and Muslms because we were better than them and now we are competing with them in science and so on regardless the Arbic Puppets (leaders) who always serving their agendas to turn us down. I am saying we are smarter, but we are very compatitive, and they have to admit that and stop attacking our religion and accusing it with llies like saying we are just camel riders who only know blood thrust and lower thinkings. Actually lower thinkings is in their channels when these people try to make us look bloodthirsty and make discussions about that WITHOUT inviting a single Islamic guest to have a debate or at least to talk about it. Because they know they are lying and fooling the viewer of their poisonous programs...
@@husamal-maamari6361 Uh I am referring to my islamiat teacher. He always ask me to stop because I have more command on history

Wish you made this video 2 weeks ago :D I was just finishing up my thesis on the topic of "Alchemy", with a subsection being Alchemy in Islam, would've helped a lot, but watching this I realize that I everything I wrote was perfect.
Great episode!
Can’t wait for part 3 anymore!
Love the video. Consider making one about Muslim scholars from Central Asia. I read somewhere about Ulugh Begh’s observatory. I bet there were other scholars whose works aren’t well known because of the geography
Thank you 🙏 AGAIN for your awesome work 👍. It was beautiful in every aspect especially the calligraphy and artwork.
great work honestly, keep going 😎💪🏼
thanks to K&G for such a great content.every Civilisation have given something good.thus this world became what it is today.
Astrology is haram dude. Do you know al birrouny and Ibn haytham
Keep the good job.
