Why not a new Mediterranean Golden Age. We can make it happen together. We're all descendants of great civilizations, we can build a greater one if we do it together.
Insya Allah. I am not from Africa but its would be lovely. I think it will be great thing. Italy can be influence North Africa culture, so North Africa do same as peacefull colaboration. So Mediterinia Golden Age will be rise. Like Rennaissance and Islamic Golden Age without Crusade/Sabil wars.
Golden age? More like age of genocide, assimilation and slavery. Yeah there was good stuff as well like advancements in science but it was mostly shit times.
@ً ً the thing is, Islam has taught that the happiness that the Lord has promised his servants is happiness unimaginable. Simply meaning as a human being the concept is out of our grasp. But the idea is, u won't have any problems and will always be happy. It's not just "eternal happiness" it's the true happiness and peace we and no one has ever felt in this limited world. Allah says in the Quran to which I translated: "Ask whatever you may want, and on Our side, there is more." meaning no matter how much u desire, the Lord will always have more for u. There is absolutely no way it can be boring. We say these things because we thought it's the same on earth minus the problems. The Prophet himself has said that humans judge on what they see. meaning we can only know what is known to us. Jazakallahu khairan, may this helps improve ur understanding.
@@cirobarachiel7696 sorry are there any prophet like that? Maybe it's because our understanding of the prophet differ but I've never heard of such a prophet in my life. There are many prophets to whom I place my faith as per the Lord's will. But, there is only one prophet to whom I follow his teachings. He is Muhammad Ibn Abdullah (peace be upon him). The one who abolished slavery, the one who successfully promotes true equality between races, the who raise the place of women, the one who, in the land of nothing but sand, create the beginning of a civilization that would be remembered throughout the world, the who liberate the Arabia and all of human beings by bringing the message of the Lord, the one who was stoned, who was exiled by his own family, was sent assassins to kill him, was sent an army as huge as 10:1 against his own to destroy him, the one who, if not for him, you won't even be able to read this facts about him. You could find all of the most suffering human being in the world and none can be compared to his. He is a king who lives like a slave. He tie a stone to his stomach cuz he eats that little. People around him, respect him, revere him for his manner and his akhlak. He would never insult a person. He is the best human being that ever lived. That is the prophet that i know of. I have never heard of any prophet with the characteristic that u say. Maybe if you actually care to learn about the truth and not just being ignorance you would know. Lie and speak all you want, in the end that is all it amounts for.
Ibn Tamiyyah fought the mongols and died in the prison due to his opposition to the rulers though he ordered his followers to not revolt to maintain stability in the state
They lasted for hundreds of years. Of course smaller libraries existed, just like they do now. But what do you suggest, scholars walking or riding camels from city to city to basically "google" some info? Of course the biggest universities and centers of knowledge in the richest cities will have the biggest libraries.
but that was the only way to progress at that time. their was no railways or cars at that time to transport fast so they had put all in one basket also no Muslims thought mongols would be so brutal that they will burn Baghdad. i think Baghdad was too valuable to be burnt to the ground and no Muslim must have ever imagined such thing would happen, No one ever imagined that a non Muslim army could ever reach near Baghdad, except they did and turned Euphrates black.

I hope you didn't give misinformation since this video failed to mention. Islam didn't contribute anything to this golden age. Islam just invaded a culture that was already full of arts and science
it saddens me to see the larger than usual quantity of dislikes this video has. As a student of history I feel it my job, not just to seek to enlighten myself on my own culture, but also that of ones less familiar to me. In our modern world intolerance and bias has no home
I LOVE cultural anthropology and world history. I don’t get why some folks are petty with their own species. I’ve seen commenters marginalize the Islamic golden age on another channel. I've always been interested in Arabic and Muslim history, as it is very short spoken in classes in Portugal. As a practicing American born and raised convert to Sunni Islam. I am left speechless, amazed and humbled from the level of tact, respect and objectivity of this video. This is one of my favorite channels and definitely one of the best on RUclips. Nothing but great beneficial content. Just a note - Ibn Taymiyyah was born into servitude but was emancipated and went on to become a scholar of every theological discipline in Islam as well as medicine. His essays and teachings on core belief - عقيدة “creed/core belief” refuted the heresies of his time and those of today. He was also not an Arab like many of the greatest scholars of early Islam. Especially in the science of hadeeth. His being mentioned in this video pretty much about made me cry. You guys do an awesome job. Thanks.

@@indramayugaming215 thanks to the likes of ibn Taymiyyah, the Golden Age ended. The very dogmatic interpretation in Hanbalism has made sure no science or tech inventions occur in Hanbali majority areas, even today.

One of the extremely few channels that is always objective and solely base their videos on historically accurate research. I have seen everything from Boudicca to the middle east, from the Rus to s Asia. Best channel on youtube for history nerds
I’ve heard people try to diminish the accomplishments of this time period because they essentially collected the knowledge of other places, which is like saying that libraries before the internet weren’t important because they didn’t write the books they collect. Without those collections and commentaries there wouldn’t have been a renaissance for who knows how long.
The collection and commentary on the works of former civilizations was only during he early period, as the years passed the local scholars added their own scholarship to the stock of human knowledge. Liek for example Alhazen ibn al-Haytham who critiqued the inherited Greek theories of light and vision, in his ‘Kitab al-Manadir’ 'Book of Optics', and managed to create his own experimentally tested theories to replace them, thereby ushering the first building blocks for the modern understanding of how human vision takes place. Ibn al-Haytham is credited with explaining the nature of light and vision, through using a dark chamber he called “al-Bayt al-Mudhlim”, which has the Latin translation as the “camera obscura”; the device that forms the basis of photography.
Not to mention that almost all great empires which advanced in science, culture and philosophy did the same thing as Islamic Golden Age! Like, where would Rome be if they didn't inherit and improve upon what the Greeks did?
@محمد رائد Yeah, knowledge; science; and culture are a continuous process. It's silly to downplay a nations/people's success just because they borrowed and improved on past knowledge.
Unbiased? Are you kidding. One of the simplest facts he failed to mention is that most of the leading translators of Greek works during that time were Christians from the Levant who translated the work from Syriac to Arabic. Also, he failed to stress the role of the Byzantines and Persians. Most of the thinkers he mentioned were hated by main stream Muslims of that time. The Mu'tazila school was literally obliterated when as soon as it had lost the support of the Caliphate. The works of Averroes were burned by an angry mob. The list goes on.
If it weren't for islamic world's defeat of Mongols in Ain jalut the Mongols would conquered all Europe they were at river of Hungary and Hungary lost 400,000 soldiers in the river one battle alone . The Muslim world battle against Mongols saved the Europeans.

@Tim Edin Hey foolish man , you remind me of an arabic quote that says : “He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool; shun him. He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, is a student; Teach him. He who knows, and knows not that he knows, is asleep; Wake him. He who knows, and knows that he knows, is Wise; Follow him.”
7:28 might I add something, we Muslims acknowledge it not as being "torturous" but as a challenge to ourselves! and ALL of them who have memorized it, keep the verses in their memory by heart, and recite frequently so they don't forget or mispronounce the words! It is indeed, very difficult but not impossible!
Quran have maybe million of hafiz (people who memorized the whole Quran). And I think that's what makes Quran still the same and authentic if we compare it with another holy book.
"Hafeth" is a title given to the person who memorizes over 100,000 of "Hadeeth" (what the prophet peace be upon him said and did) including the body of Hadeeth (what the prophet said peace be upon him) and the series of narrators who passed the body of the Hadeeth until it was documented.
as long as you are passionet about what you do the difficulty of it will be a reward on to it self, there is nothing too be proud of that has been easy.
There was no political intrigue nor battles in the vid; however, I quite enjoyed it. I knew Muslims made many scientific advances during the European Dark age, but I didn't know they were the ones that Saved Aristotle, Galen and Hippocrates for the modern day.
That's partially inaccurate since a good chunk of these works were also well preserved with the Byzantines who also played a major role in the development of European thought.
The Dark Ages were not as dark as people used to and still think. I'd say there's a persistent misconception of the Eueopean Middle Ages, especially since Enlightment.

With the quality that these videos are made, KnG deserves to have their own TV channel to produce full length documentaries series. It has all the potential to become what History Channel once was. I so much enjoy when KnG releases historic videos that don't just depict a battle. This was an extraordinary well executed historical video, cant wait for the continuations on this.
This isn't the first time I've watched/commented on this video but I just have to say again: amazing video! The video's quality is one thing, but the art isjust stunning; so beautiful. I really love the English words written out in the Arabic style font. Simply breath taking.
The problem here is that Islam didn't contribute anything to what he is talking about. They invaded a sassanians who had a golden and suddenly Muslims are golden now
Forget channels read this book these people and channels will never explain these parts of history. The book is called, " The myth of the andalusian paradise" by Dario Morera Fernandez, it is a great read i suggest it.
@@0Er0 The channel I mentioned does mention quotes from that book, but also mentions other books, to read that book alone I think would give a poor view of what Andulusia was like.
Islam is a religion of peace. Just read this . 9:29 Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.

I understand that this is an introductory episode and mostly focused on philosophers, which was properly put, but one cannot forget to mention Ibn Al-haytham when talking about Islam Golden Age, the man is literally the founder of methodological science, the Scientific Method, which is the standard of modern science of today that made science transform from philosophy into experimentation and research. He is a legend in the history of science and unfortunately rarely mentioned today. He also made splendid discoveries and studies too, such as the nature of light, human eyes, eye surgery, lenses, the concept of Camera (Qomrah) etc.
He was great, but we can't forget about Aristotle, he created methodology which inspired Islam's golden age and Al-haytham more then thousand years earlier
@@arturhashmi6281 Aristotle did not create methodology, it was Ibn al Haytham who did it. But for sure Aristotle and Greek text that was preserved and translated by Muslims did inspire Muslims in their science pursuit.
I think truthfully the scientific method in its current state has many contributors and not one supreme 'founder'. I do, however believe that the West has a very pro-western view of these contributions and we do not give Islamic scholars enough credit. Ibn Al-haytham should be as well known as the likes of Galileo, Descartes and Bacon, yet most in the West have probably never heard of him.

7:30 - Becoming a Hafidh (memorise the whole Qur'aan) is NOT a torturous task. It is relatively easy and even many children do it. It is one of the miracles of Islam. Many millions exist.
It is difficult if one does not know Arabic. For many of us non Arabs it does seem torturous, for others its easy; everyone is different. But it is nothing compared to the reward.
M Saley I’m not an Arab either, and no doubt it’s not easy, but for anyone who takes the time to do it it’s not torturous at all. Compare this to memorising any other book in the world. It’s extremely easy.
@@msaley6033 Some spoken chat words when stretched over some religious practices are somehow offending, for example memorizing Qu'ran as a whole while encouraged it is not mandatory and as such applying such term "torturous" is implying enforced injustice...hope to keep terminologies where they can fit the most...

Ok I had to stop midway to clear a small mistake, you mentioned that Iben Khaldon was one of the rare people who received the title "Hafeth" which is someone who memorizes the Quran, Not true, many people memorize the Quran, I know children who memorize it by heart (I myself memorized 2/3 of it). "Hafeth" is a title given to the person who memorizes over 100,000 of "Hadeeth" (what the prophet peace be upon him said and did) including the body of Hadeeth (what the prophet said peace be upon him) and the series of narrators who passed the body of the Hadeeth until it was documented. there are other titles, "Al Hakem" the one who memorizes 300,000 Hadeath. And "Al Hujja" the one who studied every Hadeeth narrated by the prophet peace be upon him. ok ...enough rambling, back to the video
Great video as always. I'm Muslim and I'm really amazed at the knowledge in science and philosophy that our great precursors had. I'm even more interested in knowing what knowledge might have been lost in those times (Like when the Mongols sacked Baghdad in 1258). The Golden Age of Islam was truly an incredible period, and I couldn't be more proud of my Muslim ancestors and their constributions to modern science and technology. Ramadan Kareem to my Muslim brothers and sisters around the world ❤
Perhaps you could explain what was lost instead when the Delhi Sultanate and other characters invaded and looted Indian cities and universities (Vikramshila, Nalanda, etc.) and temples, destroying libraries and all the rest. Remember too that India was a centre of learning and culture with Persians, Chinese, Central Asians and Japanese even coming to study. It's always a tragedy for the Islamic world but no one else's perspective counts.
@@navinkumarpk86 Hello sir. The person who was responsible for the destruction of Vikramshila and Nalanda happened to be a Muslim, but it does not mean that Muslims destroyed those two places. The person in mind ,Khilji, was not a "scholar", he was an illiterate tribal warlord from Afghanistan, who got noticed (and later hired) by some Turkic rulers for his military skills. He did what he had been told to do. The only thing he was good at is raging battle and killing people, irrespective of Muslim or non-Muslim whoever. It has also been recorded that Khilji even did not know how to sign his name. Keep in mind, buddhist philosophers faced a far more severe (and lengthy) forms of persecution from the Shaivite rulers like king Shashanka, Khilji's massacre is, in that sense, an isolated incident. We need to see the whole context and also need to consider the mindset of those warlords from the Middle Ages. Have a good day.
@Tim Edin Half of the knowledge the Greeks knew in astronomy and cosmology was false. And as far as I know, the only thing Muslims borrowed from India were the Arabic numerals. Muslims didn't steal anything, they simply contributed to and/or corrected already existing notions. Renaissance in Italy wouldn't have happened without medieval Muslim knowledge. Knowledge is like a snowball rolling down a mountain, it gets bigger by time.
Love the content and the mode in which it is delivered. The infographics must have taken absolutely ages to make and I am left in awe. I'm honoured that Islam is being highlighted and I'd go so far as to say concentric in this portrayal of the expansion of knowledge and thought the world over. I often look at the world today and loose myself in thought over the way islamic leaders decisions influence that of governments today, such as, English becoming the global language of commerce. I think the translation movement proved that global dominion can only really be achieved if everyone is able to communicate in a universal language and he who is able to push his language as superior will ultimately become the exclusive economic superpower. On the flip side. It also suggests the time of islamically influenced and guided sciences are past and that perhaps Islam hasn't got anything else to offer. I am of the opinion that this is a fallacy and the world at large still benefits massively from Muslim's influence in every sector. Islam is a timeless religion and I pray it's followers will continue to contribute towards the advancement and improvement of humankind the world over.
Hopefully this will inspire a new generation of Muslims to embark on a journey of science and knowledge free from bias of culture, nation, or religion, but embracing open-mindedness and objectivity in its search for truth. Another Islamic Golden Age would be pretty sweet. Loving that Eastern music...

The Prophet once says, to which I translated: They who strive to gain knowledge, Allah will make it easy for them to go to heaven"

Ancient Libraries are the perfect example of don't put all your eggs in one basket.
They lasted for hundreds of years. Of course smaller libraries existed, just like they do now. But what do you suggest, scholars walking or riding camels from city to city to basically "google" some info? Of course the biggest universities and centers of knowledge in the richest cities will have the biggest libraries.
And they of course made copies stored other places, that's exactly why we still have writings of ancient Greeks.
Or atleast maintain multiple Xerox copies in multiple locations. Something we do today effortlessly with the advents of Printing Press and Internet.
Look at the map, Baghdad is on center of the world, connected to all continent. Everything has risk
but that was the only way to progress at that time. their was no railways or cars at that time to transport fast so they had put all in one basket also no Muslims thought mongols would be so brutal that they will burn Baghdad. i think Baghdad was too valuable to be burnt to the ground and no Muslim must have ever imagined such thing would happen, No one ever imagined that a non Muslim army could ever reach near Baghdad, except they did and turned Euphrates black.

He is known to have said : “If learning the truth is the scholar’s goal… then he must make himself the enemy of all that he reads. ”

Thank you for this honest and objective illustration of history in how Islam has inspired and influenced our knowledge society. Looking forward to see the next chapters. Will certainly share this with friends and family.
How about father of chemistry “Jabir Bin Hayyan”
father of modern chemistry = Antoine Lavoisier.

Hello this is Viewer from 🇧🇩.. Just wishing luck to one of my favourite channel kings and Generals and thanking all of you for distributing such deep historical knowledge among others.. Very detailed and absolutely fabulous voice ❤
@@msaley6033 , and what is the reward?
@@msaley6033 Some spoken chat words when stretched over some religious practices are somehow offending, for example memorizing Qu'ran as a whole while encouraged it is not mandatory and as such applying such term "torturous" is implying enforced injustice...hope to keep terminologies where they can fit the most...
yes it's very easy and better done orally than reading.
that's peak human experience right there,no arms no wars only thoughts and culuture

Complex history explained with clarity. Outstanding work!
Great start, this series will be very informative and insightful. Thank you for all the effort put in making this content
Thanks for making this in Ramadan :)
Yup
Watching this in Syawal 😅
Great video as always. I'm Muslim and I'm really amazed at the knowledge in science and philosophy that our great precursors had. I'm even more interested in knowing what knowledge might have been lost in those times (Like when the Mongols sacked Baghdad in 1258). The Golden Age of Islam was truly an incredible period, and I couldn't be more proud of my Muslim ancestors and their constributions to modern science and technology. Ramadan Kareem to my Muslim brothers and sisters around the world ❤
well said

Who else is watch this while fasting lol Ramadan Kareem to all my Muslims brothers and sisters around the world❤️
this was phenomenal! keep up the amazing work
This video was absolutely amazing. Everything was very- well-explained. Can't wait to see more of these !
