"I'm tired of all these biased ranking!"
"This is the my personal use category. If I use it a lot, 25 points!"
immediately followed by "ignore what i said at the beginning" makes sense to me
I think the beet needs to have 9 Artisan points since you can pickle it, turn it into juice, and make sugar in a mill.
Damn I didn’t even see that! Good catch!
and maybe 3 in special cause you need them for the mr qi quest@@JSKIRFORPRESIDENT
i think garlic, melon, and wheat should have some points in the special category as if you grow it on ginger island you will be able to get some golden walnuts
🗿
The coffee bean is multi seasonal so isn't that 3 extra points in Special for a grand total of 69 points. Nice.
also the Personal use should be at high
@@Zical100 bruh its about how much he uses the crop
Gift use should also include the cooked coffee...
@@Migolcowexactly
Gifts should also include the artisan stuffs made from it
I feel like the gift math may have had a poor influence on the accuracy of the analysis. something being hated by a villager shouldn’t be more bad than being loved is good. something being liked or loved by a ton of people is great, but something being hated by everyone shouldn’t mean almost anything more than it being neutral for someone. you just… don’t gift it. stuff like coffee getting -34 shouldn’t be as impactful as it is; and it shouldn’t matter more to the value of the crop than if it were neutral across the board. its utility hasn’t changed whatsoever, so why does that have an impact?
Because with all that information of why it ranks where it does, you can tell what crop is good for whatever goals you have. If it’s a well liked/loved gift, it’ll be easier to gain friendships with that crop during its respective season. If it makes more gold per day, it’s the crop you can plant to make the most. If it’s used in recipes, artisan goods, etc, you have a useful crop. The breakdown of the point system essentially ranks them in different categories, not just the main one the video is about. Use the information how you choose🤷🏻
also you start with 0 friendship on all and giving them something they either hate or dislike doesn't effect there friendship with you only if you have increased there hearts [past the starting amount of zero should thos crap gifts also WIKI for what they love you wouldn't give someone something unless u know they love it or have checked the wiki to see if that npc loves it
It also shouldn't matter for coffee beans because you can just give them the actual coffee drink which almost everyone likes. It just doesn't make sense to rank it like that.
Yeah I think a +1 if anyone liked it, a +3 if anyone loved it, and 0 in all other cases, or something like that, would make more sense?
you forgot to mention that beet actually makes sugar which is used for 18 recipes, making it actually not 3 points for recipes but 54, placing it to 3rd place with 171 points (fair enough since you applied this logic to wheat with flour but not with coffe and the triple expresso)
Yeah, I had forgotten about that one. I’ve got a feeling other crops also create sugar that I missed, same thing with oil 😅
“Prove with math”
*Immediately shows the issue with the ranking system with poppy*
sweet gem berry is in bundle (mixed bundle)
i think you should give some special points for rice because you don't need to water it
I can see a lot of effort went into this much appreciated
Thank you so much bro! I appreciate the support. Just trying to improve little by littlw
I think the gift category is heavily flawed due to disliked and hated gifts dropping score because how is that in any way a flaw, all you have to do is just not gift it to people who hate it, who in their right mind just grows a bunch of potatoes and gifts it to every random person in town, either look at the wiki before gifting or just gift it, see they don't like it and be like "damn, won't do that again" super easy and poppy got absolutely murdered by this lol
One thing to consider with the gifting score is that sometimes a crop is only "loved" by one villager, but it's the most easy/cheap gift to obtain on their list (like beets/tulips for Evelyn).
Also, putting hops that low despite it being the most profitable crop in the game is a crime. They can be harvested daily after 11 days, and each becomes 300g Pale Ale (not aged) every 2250m (or just under 2 in-game days). If planted on day 1 of summer, you get 18 per plant by the end of the season.
Assuming you save the excess to keg in the fall, it would be 5400g per Summer or 192.8/day that they were being grown (processing time will be a bit longer).
Problem here is that you need about 2.5 kegs per hop plant if you wanna keep up. Which is absolutely ridiculous
me when, when, unbiased biased stardew valley tierlist
The most unbiased biased video ever made
this is pretty much a perfect unbiased *format* imo, if you don't like some of the things here you can just remove the categories, add new ones, or switch around point values and then do the math yourself for rankings, which is what i'll probably do as i personally don't like the way gifts are judged here [being too influential on the overall score]
Thanks man, I do agree the gifts did sway it a little bit, but for the most part I’m happy with how the point system turned out
I actually thought that was my phone because that’s my ringtone. I was scrambling for my phone and only then I realized
😂😂😂
As a new player (like 3 days) this is really helpful and answers questions I had from the very start. Appreciate all the effort that must have gone into this as well as the delivery style! Well done.
i suggest u watch a spring guide or like a year one checklist cuz it helped me a lot!
Try to unlock the greenhouse and bus, then plant star fruit - it's the most profitable crop because you can make star fruit wine which costs 3150g
This is very in-depth, informative, and funny! The garlic joke also made me lol. Keep up the great videos!
Most entertaining Stardew valley vid so far 😂 I love the writing, keep it up!
I appreciate that a lot! Thank you!🙏🏻
I’d love to see you make a new and improved tier list given the feedback from the comment section. This was so much more in-depth than the “purely profit” lists. Single-minded lists are my pet peeve, too!
Came for the info. Stayed for the memes. Hoopla guy exploding made me laugh out loud. One more subscriber! Keep up the good work 🫡
coffee beans can be used to brew coffee and then triple shot espressos tho so i feel like personal use should be more than 0..
i love this video though, very informative and i can tell there was a lot of effort put into this
coffee is great imo. i feel like i run much faster, and according to sv wiki it's almost a universal like except for jas, vincent & leo, so that's incorrect info in this video. coffee is awesome, in game and in rl
@@CriticalThinker08 hes just talking about the coffee bean crop. All the gifting preferences are based off the crops themselves because otherwise it would be very boring because artisan goods (the pickles/jam and juice/wine all the crops get processed into) are universal nuetrals. And for personal use he might just buy coffee from gus instead of making it, or he might just not drink coffee in his playthroughs.
As a white viewer, I do not have the sin of not using seasoning, i put garlic on almost everything
Idk if it would make the red cabbage hire on the list but:
It can be found as a drop from a few enemies in skull cavern, meaning you could possibly get it free and fast if you get lots of explosive ammo and run the Skull Cavern
The Starfruit is actually in a bundle, let me explain. In the advanced options menu when starting a world as you know there is an option to remix the community center bundles. And it changes one of the items from The Dye bundle for Emily on the notice board. Just fyi, good video im subbing hope you keep it up
Thank you for enjoying the vid and subbing!😊 To clear things up, I wasn’t counting remixed bundles as I wanted to stay in the base game.
I was surprised to see how new the channel is. Great vid!
I knew this was a good video when he started talking about numbers.
Beets also need some points in the special category, as they are required to complete a mission: "The Mysterious Mr. QI".
Not to make this even more complicated than it already is, but there should be varying points given based on which villagers love/like them. Does this villager give important recipes w friendship? Do they send you cool gifts? Are they a marriage candidate? That’s probably over the top, but I’m extra.
The gold per day not being based on their artisan goods inflates vegetable rankings imo.
The best a vegetable can do is 3.15x the base price of the crop, while fruit can reach 4.2X
And the artisan category does not reflect that either, because both will have 2 options : Jelly/Pickle + Wine/Juice.
And by the end of the game, you really want to build a keg empire if you want to maximize your GPD
Wow I genuinely couldn’t believe how few subscribers you have. This was a pretty great video
I know this took a lot of work thank you I appreciate it ❤️
bro that freddy fazbearrr hilarious, instant sub
17:46 had me dyin bro😭😭 that was so un expected u funny bro
hop into school and touch little kids
just how he got that idea lmao
Isn't it funny even with so many factors in, the ancient fruit managed to stay in 2nd place. While starfruit couldn’t keep up? Take you starmids!!
You come across as wanting to do this lazily so badly but you clearly put so much work into it and I appreciate that dichotomy 😂
including the possible remixed bundles would probably make it more complicated but it could make it more fair, like a few points less than the ones in the base bundles but still a few would make sense i think
awesome video man, ur funny asf
One thong hops are great for is energy especially early game because you get so much of them and i believe they restore 45 energy
I know this is not what you meant, but the image is in my mind now.
Hops would actually work for a thong.
It would be more fitting than purple shorts.
@@sneezyfido LMAO i didnt even realize
This is good vid for starter it sad to see it at little likes
Can't wait for the next video
I like to add another category if you need to plant a new seed and wait or it can produce without planting a new seed because it takes a long time to wait for the crop to grow again
Tulip is #1 if you want everyone to love you
This is hilarious love the phone call.
Thanks bro! I like adding little bits here and there
Great video, did you plan not to include items that may be in the remixes bundles? Cause that might have made a small change to rankings as some items might be found in a bundle that currently aren't found in one on your list
Yes, I was mainly going for the base version and decided not to account for remixed bundles as i thought that would make things a bit messy
Great video, but I definitely think some of the categories need to be weighted slightly more. GPD, for example, is the most important factor in the viability of a crop, so it needs to be weighted higher.
I also think that some crops were done unfairly. Coffee Beans as my example. It is the best crop for gifting. Not as the raw crop itself, but as Coffee because of the amount of beans you collect and the low time of production. Coffee is also one of the best beverages in the game as it gives you a speed boost, it is invaluable for that. Also you can just sell Coffee to make a decent amount of gold. This is the reason Coffee is one of the best crops in the game.
Parsnips also should be higher because they're used to get early farming levels quickly.
Wheat should be higher because many people use wheat to stop their fields from untilling between the transition from summer to autumn.
I should mention that you did leave out quests as a factor of ranking the crop. If you're gonna rank bundles, I think it's fair to rank quests.
You missing out on the alternative bundels. Ancient Fruit and the Sweet Gem Berry are in a Special Bundle if you activate alternative bundles.
Your very funny man you gotta keep making content
the mario galaxy music makes this video majestic as hell
the flowers had me tweaking blue jazz, summer spangle, poppy, tulip, sunflower and fairy rose are all part of the garden bundle from the remixed bundles so we need a redo that takes into account the remix bundles and their variants
I decided to not include remixed bundles into the list. If I make an updated list in the future, I’ll consider them tho
Alright, let me just calculate the points without hated and disliked deductions being taken into account:
Poppy: 107pts
Unmilled rice: 63pts
Coffee bean: 100pts
Blue jazz: 71pts
Rhubarb: 76pts
Tea leaves: 71pts
Summer spangle: 86pts
Garlic: 96pts
Sunflower: 101pts
SGB: 100pts
Taro root: 112pts
Fairy rose: 112pts
Kale:115pts
Hops:119pts
Radish:120pts
Pineapple:121pts
Corn:126pts
Beet:125pts
Bok Choy: 128pts
Artichoke: 133pts
Green bean: 133pts
Cauliflower:136pts
Cactus: 135pts
Amaranth:140pts
Wheat:136pts
Yam:142pts
Starfruit:147pts
Parsnip:150pts
Strawberry:149pts
Eggplant:151pts
Hot pepper:151pts
Potato:163pts
Tomato:167pts
Cranberries: 167pts
Grape:172pts
Red cabbage: 174pts
Blueberry: 175pts
Melon: 181pts
Ancient fruit: 185pts
Pumpkin: 223pts
So, i feel like this didn't help the objectivity of this much, some factors like ability to exponentionally grow the number of a given plant weren't taken in, plus there's also a very difficult dilemma of whenever a crop should or shouldn't be used if it's massively outclassed by a different crop, plus gold per day metric only measures the unprocessed gold per day instead of like taking preserves jarred/kegged primary result for calculations, and all of this is my thoughts after playing the game for 50 hours and the simply watching random youtube videos about it so by no means complete. I mean obviously starfruit is realistically top 5, probably top 3 because it's a really easily renewable endgame plant that in a lot of cases can give you plenty enough money for the endgame shopping list without any ancient fruit shenanigans. Sooooo that's that
I think some consideration could have been given for special order crops (ala Island Ingredients), maybe for a future resource/gem/fish ranking?
Glad to have this now
This is amazing! I would love to see this done with the mod, PPJA Fruits and Veggies. There’s like no good info on this mod (for money making)
I just might have to do it then!
@@JSKIRFORPRESIDENT oooo! so excited
I appreciate the analysis and the work put into this. I disagree with the point values though - you would need to break them out into early game, bundles, late game, etc. For instance, I don't give a crop (yep, intentional there) about bundles after I have complete the greenhouse, nor about experience ever (at farming) since that will accumulate anyway, etc. once I get to Ancient fruit - it's just about the cash late game. Basically I think of it as gold per second (or whatever time period) - how long does it take to go buy the crop, plant it, (assume sprinklers so no watering), harvest it, repeat. So, as an example, it takes 0 time to buy Ancient fruit, but does require time for seed makers, where-as, Starfruit requires going to the desert, buying seeds, etc.
below is a list of all the rankings where i've removed the personal use section for a fully not biased ranking
1 pumpkin - 209
2 red cabbage - 169
3 grape - 168
4 melon - 167
5 tomato - 162
6 ancient fruit - 156
7 hot pepper - 147
8 blueberry/eggplant - 146
9 cranberry - 138
10 yam - 137
11 wheat - 136
12 parsnip/strawberry - 135
13 starfruit/potato - 133
14 amaranth - 132
15 cactus fruit - 131
16 artichoke/green bean - 128
17 cauliflower - 126
18 bok choy - 123
19 beet - 120
20 corn - 119
21 pineapple - 117
22 radish - 115
23 hops - 113
24 kale - 110
25 fairy rose - 109
26 taro root - 107
27 sweet gem berry - 95
28 sunflower - 98
29 garlic - 84
30 summer spangle - 83
31 tea leaves - 73
32 rhubarb - 72
33 blue jazz - 68
34 coffee bean - 66
35 tulip - 62
36 unmilled rice - 22
37 poppy - 8
I enjoyed this enough that I started looking for a ranking of the fish XD
I’ve gotta make one of those too
Rhubarb spring, starfruit summer, pumpkin fall, and ancient fruit all year round
rice's special feature of being like autowatered if planted near water should have given it bonus
I plant blue jazz to cook the lucky lunch recipe, so I'd rank it higher in the personal use category 😊
The multiple colour variants are annoying though, cause they use up so much space in the chests, so maybe I'd have to deduct some points again 😅
that ringtone is litterally the same as mine so i thought someone liked me :(
It’s okay, you’re stuck with me now.
Somewhat off topic from the stardew, but present in the video… Garlic Powder is 👌
LOBOTOMY DASH REFFERENCE
A shame you didn’t add remixed bundles bc some of these would be a little higher in the ranks, but other than that great vid!
Nice work. Any ranking with weighted scores is going to necessarily be biased based on how it is weighted. Personally I think the flowers should lose points because different colors don’t stack. Maybe give tea a bonus point for not needing to be watered.
I appreciate this guide but at least for some crops, I feel it is unfair to rank them lower just due to villagers disliking them. You only ever give gifts most of the time to people who know will like them. After one gift of poppies or looking on the wiki most people know to just use it for Penny, gold, or recipies. The same applies to other crops like coffee beans too.
A few people are pointing out that beets can make sugar in a mill, but I really don't think that needs to be counted because doing that is so not worth it. It costs 2,500 gold to build the mill, plus 100 gold worth of stone, 300 gold worth of wood, and 1,880 worth of cloth (more if you have the rancher or artisan profession), amounting to about 4,780 gold, plus the cost of the beet seeds........or you could just buy sugar for only 100 gold each at the shop and get it much faster, to boot. If you were trying to cook every recipe for perfection, you'd only need 18 sugar, or 1,800 gold. Unless you're mass-producing ginger ale or something, it's not a good deal.
Fair, but in that case wheat flour should be disregarded too in the wheat category. Either rice, beets and wheat are all milled, or none are.
The poppy is actually really good at making honey in the summer before you go for fairy rose in the winter
i should plant more pineapple then, thanks
Yeah, they are amazing for gold!
If you are selling raw starfruit is still better for making wine
@@zaineoakley5555 Yeah,if we are talking Ginger Island (required for Pineapples), then if you are making wine its Ancient Fruit > Starfruit > Pineapple
If you are selling raw its Ancient Fruit > Pineapple > Starfruit (with Deluxe Speed Grow) otherwise, Blueberry
(I am not counting sweet gem berries, because they neither regrow nor can be purchased in bulk)
I don't think some of these should get dinged for gifts if they are disliked. Especially something like coffee beans, which is needed to make coffee, a universal like WITH a speed boost.
Ye giftfs really destroyed the first crops onthe list
no wayyyyyyyy starfruit IS top 3
This vid makes me wanna wrap my car around a tree (Fr though like the vid and jokes lol)
I knew pumpkin would get top 10 but didn't expect it to surpass ancient fruit in ranking, neat.
Fairy Rose - west of the island farm - GPD is much higher than you're giving it credit for. Mitch Hedburg would be proud.
Dehydrator crops have just entered the chat.
my brother in christ you cant eliminate bias when you have an entire personal use category
thats the joke
@@Slime7_yes! Somebody understands 😂
You’re a pretty underrated RUclips a 40 minute video and only 500 subs
Maybe the artisan category should award points based on how much its price compares to other artisan good of the same group e.g. tulip honey and poppy honey
petition for this video for mod crops (eg SVE)
I think this was really well done and 8 of the categories are perfect. Personal use is fine but I thought you were talking about how much energy and health it gave and other stats like buffs I think that would have been cooler. I really don't like that you put minuses in the gifts categories. If you put 0pts for hate, dislike, and neutral I think that would have been more realistic since who is gonna see that a gift is universally neutral and think wowee this is something I gotta mass produce. If I was trying to get someone or everyone to like me but wanted to make money at the same time I would just split my farm in two, one for cash crops and one for gift crops. Plus I'm currently doing a Penny playthrough so... Other than that one gripe though I love this video, was super informative and helped me rethink my opinion on certain crops I have never used or hated in the past.
Off-topic, but your voice is really nice :]
do you have the excel verison of these crops with the numbers on it? please, i need this.
Ancient Fruit are extremely rare for me.
I'm hoarding the fruit until I can convert them to seeds. Granted I didn't plant all my seeds that I found. I'm still learning this game.
Unmilled rice obviously has a special: if you plant it near water you don't have to water it.
damn what a good video, and you dont even have 1k subs how insane
I think the gifts category really skewed this list. Why do hated gifts shift the position do much? Id love to see this list without taking hated gifts into account. No one is forcing you to gift them .
Bro did i wake up in a parallel universe where Degenerocity plays stardew
Great stuff tho keep it up😭🙌❤️
I feel like plants shouldn't get negative for being a disliked or hates gift. You wouldn't usually even bother gifting a neutral gift to someone. Poppy is a shitty crop, but probably doesnt deserve so much hate because at least its loved by Penny, although you could just give her melons instead.
I would change a few things.
Don't account for neutral/disliked/hated gifts as you're not using for that.
Also change recipe to be less important, maybe ranges:
0 recipes = 0pts
1~3 recipes = 5pts
4~6 recipes = 10pts
6~9 recipes = 15pts
10+ recipes = 20pts
The coffee is missing three special points for being multi-seasonal. And probably another three for being recurring. Seriously, an early coffee bean drop from either dusk sprites or the cart is BUSTED.
This video is actually a war crime
I think I wouldve put more on the keeps producing plants. I mean i tend to use coffee and corn and such because theyre plant them and leave them to keep giving items. Then again I don’t really try to minmax my games (until we get the greenhouse then nothing but ancient fruit)
data; i LOVE DATA
Cool, a guy to do all the math for me
you didnt rank Qi berry which after you get it you can reproduce (althogh admitdly i dont know why outside of quests)
Fairy rose should have some points for special because they increase the chances of the crop fairy coming at night
I didn’t know that
@@JSKIRFORPRESIDENT Nvm I looked it up not true.
I hope you get better at making videos soon, this vid was tough to watch. good luck my man it's still early in your career.
I think irrigated crops should've received some extra points for being basically energy free money and xp
At the pineapple part you dragged and as a musician and SpongeBob fan, it kinda hurt
I KNOW😂😂 but I already spent an hour trying to stay on beat 😅
Fair
I’m surprised starfruit is only 5th in GPD D:
I appreciate the effort that went into it, but there's something I don't understand. Why are there so many points allocated for the Bundles and XPPD? You only need to collect the crops once for the Bundles, and eventually, you reach the maximum level, so the value of these points seems insignificant. Am I missing something?
I was going based on how important a crop was when you want to 100% the game. I forgot to mention that in the video. I made the experience a lower factor than gold since gold is needed forever, but I still thought it was important. I appreciate your question! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clear things up!☺️
Underated ytuber 😂😂
cool video
