It's not THAT rare. I have binned at least 7 of them. The lucky ring (got that 3 times, twice on the same of my 7 perfection saves) is rarer, the living hat (got it once) is rarer still.
Now that tea saplings are nerfed to half their value, I wonder how much it will affect future challenges like this. On the other hand, now way more seeds can be found that didn't even exist before. Pierre may become obsolete!
Indeed! I'm looking forward to seeing what new money making strategies the community comes up with in the coming months. Some of the 1.6 changes mean a full on Boycott may now be possible for perfection instead of having to purchase the 6 items I did from Pierre. Pretty exciting! :)
@@AubreyAngst It does take a bit but you can actually make more profit from tea saplings now, you can pick them back up after planting them so it can only be done on the final 7 days of the year, harvest the tea after every day and then you reach more than the old profit value, but it takes time
technically they got buffed, harvest them the final week of the season, then pick the saplings back up again the last day, and you make MORE money than just crafting and selling.
A little tip for anyone struggling with the ginger harvest special order: make sure you immediately unhoe the spots after harvesting the ginger, that way more can grow back the very next day!! I usually end up finishing the order in about half the time you're given! 💗
If you think that's bad, let me tell you what happened to me: I use the Automate mod, and put a dino egg I got super lucky to fish on day 7 into a chest... that I decided to move a week later by pushing it...right past a mayo machine that immediately sucked it up.

I went 300 hours into the game, not realizing the Tea Sampling was a thing, because I didn't find out about it until I was going for a completionist finish. The quest had apparently glitched, I had to slingshot my friendship down to zero and get it back up to fix it >.>

This is a crazy video! Two hours of pure content and effort, wow. I'm afraid to even imagine the amount of planning and editing that went into this, well done! The challenge is very interesting, I usually minmax every playthrough too much and get burnt out, so maybe I'll try something like this next time.
Uber late response, but I tend towards min-maxing, then getting utterly burnt out, too! I recently tried doing an "antisocial" run, where I stayed away from all people except those who are also loners in Stardew, like Linus, Krobus, etc (I'm autistic and don't much like talking to or being around people, lol, so I was just doing "me", basically - I would avoid busy areas at busy times, not go to stores, run if I accidentally shared a map space with someone, etc!) - and it was soooo relaxing comparatively. My own built in rules made me take it all at a totally different pace, and day to day was just so much less to stress about and rush! Highly recommend having a seperate save to do this kind of thing on, as a contrast to your main save file! 🧡 I'm just keeping that save file open for the burnouts, now!!

Maybe doing a run with rules that naturally restrict minmaxing like that and seeing how far you can get with your own ideas is the way to go for the next time I get a craving for SDV. The last one, not surprisingly, is beating Prarie King without dying. Which I seriously doubt I will ever, or even will be able to, do.
Getting double piglets was a bit insane - must have been the extra cave carrots I'd been sneaking Marnie to sell me the most fertile stock lol (I kid) Honestly, I think my first few farms I didn't have barn babies either. It will happen for you I'm sure :)
Nice work! I did a run similar to this a while back, though I made some exceptions for the backpack and bouquet, because I thought it'd be poetic to marry Abigail on that file, and I'm not interested in extreme inventory management.

Are you asking about specific seeds or just in general? Lewis gives you parsnip seeds to start. Mixed seeds can be found by clearing weeds and they will grow into a few different crops each season. Then there's the seeds given for museum donations - plus any you can snag from the traveling cart or, later on, at the night market. I was only boycotting Pierre and Joja so I had other options in this run that I took full advantage of.
Interesting theory. What makes you think the bin goes to Pierre's? Lewis is the one who picks up the bin contents and I've always assumed he ships your goods out to the city or elsewhere to be sold...particularly since you can ship almost anything, but the town vendors will only purchase certain items.
Nice! I would 10/10 recommend. Depending on the mods it could make things very interesting indeed, like the one that lets you steal from vendors (not sure what it's called)

How are you planting crops seeds if your not buying them?
Are you asking about specific seeds or just in general? Lewis gives you parsnip seeds to start. Mixed seeds can be found by clearing weeds and they will grow into a few different crops each season. Then there's the seeds given for museum donations - plus any you can snag from the traveling cart or, later on, at the night market. I was only boycotting Pierre and Joja so I had other options in this run that I took full advantage of.

Lewis is the one who picks up the bin contents and I've always assumed he ships your goods out to the city or elsewhere to be sold...particularly since you can ship almost anything, but the town vendors will only purchase certain items.

I use OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) to record gameplay on my PC. If you're playing on console - I've had pretty good luck with elgato capture cards, but haven't recorded from console in some time so not sure what else is out there.

Oh, lol - the Special Order "Island Ingredients" (from Caroline) has a chance to be harvesting/shipping 100 Taro Root, Ginger, or Pineapple and whenever I get Ginger I never complete it in the time frame.
