I love how this video gives you direct, non-fussy instructions. Great for an intermediate or veteran sewer. I have been sewing bags for a few years but I rarely use grommets. This is very helpful. Thank you.
Woke up to several centimetres of snow on the ground this morning. Watching this tutorial turned my gray sky to blue. Thanks, beautiful lady! You are the best!!!!
[My Goodness, finally a video that is from beginning to the end explaining everything in between and why… Thank you… being just a beginner at sewing who has a lot of the items to make this beach bag but don’t know how to put it all together, even after watch a lot of videos on youtube. This being all together makes me want to return to the sewing machine and make what I started too make can couldn’t figure out how to use the products. Thank you so much
awesome tutorial!! It was perfect for me in that there was no annoying background music and you have very understandable diction. Followed along and made one of these today and loved the "soda/water bottle" pocket! I wanted a large lined. square bottom beach bag with lots of pockets and this was perfect. Wish I could keep it, but alas it's for my daughter's birthday gift, lol
Hi, I absolutely love this bag design!! Thank you for sharing your time, work and knowledge. It’s so helpful to a new sewer/ quilter like me! Again thank you so much!!
I decided that I wanted to make my sister a large beach bag and saw your bag. I downloaded the pattern, have the fabric and I'm ready to start sewing! Thank you for the great pattern and tutorial.
I LOVE THIS TUTORIAL!! This is the bag im making... with the fabric envelope!! Is awesome!! Thank you for your knowledge and for making all this great videos!!
Laura, i really love how you teach technique and ways to sew this bag or any project. Thanks again from your fan Elaine Angeles from Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines.
Thank you Laura for yet another fantastic tutorial. I just ordered some fabric from a Etsy seller, and I'm going to make this bag. You are a inspiration to me and I've learned so much from you. Thank you!
It is beautiful! I'd like to make these a bit smaller and use them as bags to bring to the grocery store! There are lots of ideas going through my head.....I can use painter's dropcloth and embroider something nice on the front and the back. I've got some sisters that would love this.....and of course, so will I. Your video tutorials are so easy to follow, very instructive. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. BTW, the red and white Quilt, behind you, is gorgeous!
This would make a fantastic knitting bag. Pockets for your pattern and accessories like darning needles, stitch markers, measuring tape, etc. Nice long handles to sling the bag over your shoulder freeing up your hands. I love it.
gorgeous fabric! always love to watch your videos cause they are truly clear and easy to follow, hence SewVeryEasy the perfect site to be inspired. love it and thank you so much Laura.
Awesome. Thanks Laura for your really easy-to-follow and understand instructions... Your SewVeryEasy site name really fits the way you give your step by step, clear, and orderly manner sewing instructions to create an excellent project every single time. Thanks again and looking forward to more projects with you.
i found if you sew a line of stitching for grommet, also squeeze a thin line of super glue over the stitching and grommet will never tear out of fabric. did this on my daughters jeans where grommet button was tearing out and it worked beautifully and on a backpack grommet repair too!
Great bag Laura & really beautiful fabric, actually that fabric makes you want to go to the beach, oh well, that would keep me away from my sewing lol !!
Ali Lee BEACH!!! I just want people think that I go to the beach lol I'm a burner in 30 minutes flat...I just listen to beach music while I'm sewing :D
I think it would be clearer if you used solid colors or patterns that weren't so similar. As a beginner I couldn't really tell what you were doing since the patterns are so busy.
Let me start by saying, I just love you and all your tutorials! I have made several of your projects! You are an excellent teacher! I'm fairly new to sewing and have learned soooo much from you, thank you for all you do!! I do have a question though, I am in the middle of making this bag now and I'm am all the way to the part where you sew the 2 side pockets on the outside of the bag and I am having a hard time?? Its almost like I did something wrong, but I followed step by step and it looks the exact same! Is it just me or is it a little difficult to sew the side pockets on because of the extra bulk and with the bag partialy together, to not accidently sew through to the other side?? If you have any tips or tricks please let me know??!! Thank you again for all you do!!
It could just be because of the extra thickness. If it is to hard you can just omit the side pockets or hand sew that area first by hand and then stitch it with the machine
I have the same question! If the bag is mostly together, I don’t understand how you can sew on one side without sewing through the other side. It’s not possible on a regular sewing machine to position the fabric in a way that will make this work. I wish the video had shown this step and that Laura had answered your question in a way that made sense. 🙁 Sirry Laura. You’re a good teacher and a skilled sewer but this part needs some explanation.
Love this bag but shucks...I think I arrived too late to this beach bag party. ☹️ Any idea where to get the pattern details? Thanks for another wonderful tutorial!
Thank you Laura for another great video. Can you tell me what the size of the rope is? I found several sizes from 1/2" to 1" on Amazon and I am unsure which size you used. Thank you for this project!
This looks completely awesome, and doable for even a novice (me). I was wondering, how much would you estimate a project like this would cost? Thank you!
Hi Laura I'll echo everyone else's comments here and ask a question. When and if I ever get the news that I will be a grandparent I know my daughter would love a bag like this to carry everything around. I love the idea of the taller outside pocket. Do you think it would be too bulky particularly in the box seam to add in Insul-Bright? Or perhaps cut the Insul-Bright a little shorter? Thank you as always for your clear instructions.
Thank you so much for the great tutorial. I was wondering if you could help me? I used my beach bag and two of the grommets came loose. Do you have any thoughts as to how to keep them in place? Thanks! Hollie
This tutorial was very enlightening, interesting and well explained. I love it. I didn't get the measurements of the bag, can who tell me where I can find the measurements.
The rope will all depend on the size groment you get. Check your hardware store for a bigger rope than you would get in the fabric store. Once your know the size rope you want than get the groments to match.
I'm good l was going through the comment section and I come across your profile picture smile you are beautiful I must confess your smile are charming can we be friends if you don't mind?

good idea, thanks for sharing:)
@SewVeryEasy HI!I I love this bag, but I ask him how many inches did you leave between each groomet? Thanks
i found if you sew a line of stitching for grommet, also squeeze a thin line of super glue over the stitching and grommet will never tear out of fabric. did this on my daughters jeans where grommet button was tearing out and it worked beautifully and on a backpack grommet repair too!

since this is 5 years ago, I cant find the fabric on the blankquilting.com can you suggest another source?
Hello Stephanie
I always follow your tutorials. Thank you so much. What is the diameter of rope is used here?
I just want to make like that but here in italy i don't find fabric for sewing. this is so cute👍
Oh that is too bad, thanks for watching
A great bag for traveling, I am just wondering about maybe zipper, I am always dropping my bags and ever thing falls out, my reason for zippers.
1bcsurvivor Yes a zipper would be good for that, but put the zipper in, under the grommets. :)
I love this bag, just got to make one x
Que, heerrmosa!!!..bolsa de plalla, muchas grasias por el video, Dios la bendiga siempre.
Lidia Contreras thank you:)
I am going to make this. Is it hard to cut out for the grommets Laura?
It seems this video is too old and just saw it. Wondering where can I find the same fabric. It's very cute.
What a great bag that is, I love it! Thank you!
Thankyou so much for such an amazing and simple explanation!

Hello Sandra
Thanks Laura. 😊
My grommets keep coming apart? Any suggestions?
Hello Carolyn
What do you recommend for straps, macrame I can do and rope, it looks amazing
Hello!! I live in Miami , how can I buy your fabrics online? I love them!!
Could you use some interfacing for the pockets? Love the fabric and the pattern. Thanks for the tutorial.
+Mary Kay Harman Yes it will make them a little stronger too:)
Ornella Day you can definitely use Insul-Bright, not too bulky at all And keep it the same size so that the insulation works better, Good question:)
Thank you so much for the great tutorial. I was wondering if you could help me? I used my beach bag and two of the grommets came loose. Do you have any thoughts as to how to keep them in place? Thanks! Hollie
Yes put a few drops of crazy glue on the inside of the grommets before you snap them together:)
What size not the grommets And the rope? I would like to make this bag
Were can I get the material for bag plz
This tutorial was very enlightening, interesting and well explained. I love it.
I didn't get the measurements of the bag, can who tell me where I can find the measurements.
Patricia, download the pattern. The measurements are on the front
I've tried several times to download the free pattern but it isn't available. I like the bag but can't access it. Please help!.
Laura, how did you cut the circles for the Grommets
What about a zipper in that bag. How would you do that. I love your videos thanks
+Lyn Pinto Thanks and you would have to put in a gusset with a zipper, just below the grommets
I love this, can you tell me about the size of the rope that you used?
The rope will all depend on the size groment you get. Check your hardware store for a bigger rope than you would get in the fabric store. Once your know the size rope you want than get the groments to match.
Can you tell me long pocket size please
How do you sew on the side outside pocket?
Hello samantha
awesome fabric .i love it and thanks for a beautiful bag
thanks! glad you like the video and bag:)
What a great tutorial. Thank You.
+Dixie Savage Thanks Dixie and thanks for watching
Hello Dixie
does anyone know how long the rope should be?
Hi Laura, is this a canvas type material? Will quilting cotton be sturdy enough with the fusible fleece?
This was just a regular quilting cotton:) and yes with the fleece it will be ok. However, you can make this out of canvas :)
You’re awesome;!
What size and type of rope did you use. Love it!
I found the rope in a hardware store. Try the boating dept!
Great demo - thanks for sharing
thanks for watching
Good morning - love the bag! - I see the pattern is no longer available. Is there perhaps a spot where we can buy the pattern?
Yes, this is no longer available. Don't really need a pattern...just the measurements would be nice.
store-par0o0ta6b.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/import/Projects/pdf/Beach_Party_Bag.pdf
The pattern for the xl beach bag is no longer on the Blank Quilting site. Do you have it or know where I can get or purchase the pattern?
I emailed Blank and they sent it: store-par0o0ta6b.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/import/Projects/pdf/Beach_Party_Bag.pdf
Hi Laura,
Great video. I was wondering where you got the rope for this beach bag?

Lidia Contreras Hi Lidia, always nice to hear from you. Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the Big Beautiful Beach Bag
