Made two bags from scratch. One with bagpack function. Very good idea for sending our kids to buy potatoes from our local farmer etc.

Laura You ideas are so simple. Love watching your videos I have a new Janome after having a Pfaff for 25 years. I think this will be a fun project to learn my machine on. (Changing machines is not easy) The way you explain things is top notch.

I've had a very similar pattern for almost a year now, but didn't understand it. The roll of the mesh the woman sold me, doesn't match the measurements in the pattern instructions. I also do better with following along in a video than just with reading a pattern. I will just change the pattern measurements to match this one, so thank you so much Laura! You make it 'sew very easy', with your clear and concise demonstrations.

Some mesh fabric is kinda stretchy, unfortunately, that's what I currently have in my stash. I'll have to purchase some in person so I can feel the sturdiness of it.

Virginia Valentin Hello Virginia. The mesh she is using here is vinyl mesh. A similar product is pet screen. The stretchy kind of mesh is generally used for pockets in handbags like those found in designs ByAnnie.

I love making these bags; however, I have a hard time sewing the 3.25 strip straight on the mesh ends. not sure what I am doing wrong! Maybe I need more pinning?

I asked the same question, that mesh is different from the mesh I have, my mesh is slouchy😂
What size seams? I am a quilter and always go to 1/4 inch but I am guessing this needs a little more. thanks

Love that bag, you could pack a lot into it, where did you purchase the mesh?
I found the mesh at my favorite quilt shop. I have several pieces in different colors. Just call around to different quilt shops to see if they carry it.
Do the pockets need any flex foam or soft and stable?
I've made over 30 bags and only use cotton fabric. No need for interfacing. You could add it, but I think it would make sewing the straps down a bit difficult.

At my local Joann's in Massachusetts they sell something called pet screening material... might this work? Unfortunately, it comes only in black.
Don't see why it wouldn't. Would be nice to have a different color though.
I use that all the time - have gotten mine at Walmart. Black is the only option there as well however with so many different fabrics to choose from I haven’t found the black to be an issue 😊

How do you hold down the triangle points folded into the inside
After using it for a while, the bottom just settles.
Would a French seam work for the sides?

Laura can you tell me where you got your cutting mats? I noticed they have almost a puzzle piece to connect them. I purchased one with a clear top and the grids underneath and I don't like it. I wanted larger but its difficult to see the numbers underneath. I like that idea your using much better.

If you put the mesh at the bottom it would be great for kids' beach toys. Give it a shake and all of the sand stays at the beach!

Great bag pattern . I might make one as a produce bag for groceries. Easy to wash and dry after use, if needed.

What size needle do you use with mesh?
I use a 75/11 needle.
