- Summer is almost here and you need a bag big enough to fit a few beach towels, swimsuits, water and snacks? Make a DIY beach bag / weekender bag really easily with this simple tutorial - perfect for sewing beginners!
SUPPLIES
Fabric - choose a heavy cotton or canvas fabric.
You will need to cut the following parts:
2x FRONT/BACK: 50 x 55 cm (20" x 22")
2x LINING: 50 x 55 cm (20" x 22")
2x STRAPS: 15 x 60 cm (6" x 24")
1x POCKET: 55 x 28 cm (22" x 11")
You also need standard polyester thread and of course, a sewing machine.

Thank you for sharing! I love this bag! The only change I will make for the bag I will sew is to sew a square with an “x” inside to secure the handles.

I’m a beginner + and it took me 3-4 hours
So i made this bag today, started at 7:09am, est, and was done at 9:55am, i really love this pattern, im going to make some more but the next one i will be using some stabilizer to see how it turns out. Thank you for this video love it and you got a thumbs up from me.

Hi Only just learning to sew and thought I’d show you my adapted version of your bag. Sadly can’t add photos on here for some reason 🥴 Made with a shower curtain inside and out so is completely waterproof. I backed the outer layer with stiffened material to make it a bit more rigid then added the lining and put the pockets on the outside to take sandy shoes/ flip flops etc. Not perfect but I am really chuffed with my first attempt .Thank you for your easy to follow video 😊

You can use any sturdy fabric, I like to use canvas / cotton duck.
I made your beach bag, but I'm having trouble with sewing on the straps. Where exactly do they get sewn on and how? I thought I followed the directions, but the handles ended up on the inside of the bag in between the liner and the main fabric. Can you help please? Thanks!
I can’t figure out the straps on this. I got all the way to the end and my straps are basted to the outside of outer layer and the inner layer is in side the outer layer right side facing. No idea what happened here? Please help somebody.

how far down do you attach the pocket piece to the lining? it doesn't appear to be pinned equal distance from top to bottom
I did 5 inches from the bottom and it worked out perfectly!!
