I honestly wish classic MMOs would open one server per major expansion (at least for the early stuff). You could clone your character to the next server when you or your guild wanted new content, but always go back and play up to your favorite point in the releases.

That answer is probably loaded with as many caveats as if I were to ask you if I should play WoW live, OSRS, Runescape 3, Brighter Shores, or WoW classic, or Season of Discovery. The big answer is: It depends. Everquest 1 - The game is largely a solved game built around simple concepts of group play, challenging pve and a lengthy journey to max level that ends in a huge expansive raiding end game that inspired the likes of WoW. There are three main ways to play each with their own caveats: Live (the current game) which gets a new xpac every year but is top heavy population wise so you'll be lonely till max level which can take a very long time, though they do have mercenaries which are npc companions to help you along. Progression servers (they launch every year around may and often have unqiue rulesets, this is when the largest bulk of players come back and play and groups are plentiful, at least for a bit. And then p99. P99 is an emulator server that was officially recognized by Daybreak. This will be the most hardcore oldschool experience of EQ as it was in 99 and the early 2000s with much less quality of life additions. Everquest 2 - Two ways to play, Highly recommend the curren Everquest 2 Origins server as it has no pay to win, its a very solid experience, and leans heavily into group play. Other Everquest 2 live servers are also several expansions in though leveling is a fair bit faster than EQ1 and gameplay will be more familiar to someone coming from WoW as the two games began within the same month and followed similar gameplans, WoW just managed it better. For Other Ideas: There are some new mmos in the works that look to capture these experiences: Pantheon Rise of the Fallen, Monsters and Memories, and Evercraft Online. All similar and being made by indie mmo dev teams.
They made Aion 2 already. It was a mobile game in line with Raid Shadow Legends. It was already canceled a few years ago. I loved Aion but NCSoft’s track record sucks and I am definitely on a wait and see basis for this one.
It would be nice if you write the names of games in your video. , not a English speaker so it was hard to grasp the games you mentioned in new and early access.
I have kind of lost my MMO mojo and think its time to hang that hat up for a while. This years experience with MMOs just is not sitting well with me. I hope they all do well and will watch to see what happens. I would like to do wow classic 1 more time on a fresh server just not sure I got it in me to fly solo again.
Come join the growing family in Ashes of Creation (TESTING in Alpha 2)! I've been testing since Alpha 1 and love it! There is so much to do and the list of things to do is growing as new content is added. I know pvp is a concern for some, but honestly, I hardly touch it or get touched by it.
I'm still working through my review of the game, need a *lot* more time but it will be from a PvE players perspective, and of course aware of it being in Alpha. Weekends get so full its been hard to find playing time.
Dude I know this channel is going to be huge. I really appreciate your prespective. I clicked on a couple culture war channels and now thats all my feed shows. Most aren't even about games, but parts of the game they hate. It is so annoying.
It really just depends if you want to keep going in each expansion, Classic is in Cata for example, or if you want to start over. In EQ,LOTRO...etc. that have similar server types the old server remains, though populations tend to dip the longer they go on.
I'm not entirely sure how to answer your question because I'm thinking of 3 possibilities. 1. You're asking when the game would catch up to retail. 2. You're asking when the game would become more popular than retail 3. You're asking when the game has the features of retail that would make it indistinguishable other than the current content (dungeon finders, raid finders...etc.)
@Redbeardflynn so when wow classic was released, I believe it was shadowlands expansion in retail. So does it stop being wow classic when shadowlands hits classic? Idk just some random thought 😅
Wow Housing unfortunately is over a year away with it coming in Midnight! I loved AION when it first came out, but it slowly went way down over the years!
Ok, need to look into Palia... and, yes, EQ3 news, any kind, please! I played EQ back in 1999 and for ~10 years total (with breaks). Played EQOA for about a year. EQ2 for ~5 years. Played every spinoff except the RTS (I don't like RTS games). Wife even got me the EQ collectors box (kind of a golden metal) back in 2004. So, it was a major blow when they said that EQNext wasn't going to happen because when they put all the pieces together, it just wasn't fun. If I have learned anything about the majority of developers, it's that they really don't understand what players want, and mainly focus on pleasing investors. So, just because they thought it wasn't fun... very well might be complete BS, that the players would have loved it. That game could have put Daybreak back on the board. Instead, they are the house of geriatric games (games I loved... back in the day lol): EQ, EQ2, DCUO, DDO, LotR, etc. They might still be bringing in money, but the players are aging, will eventually stop playing due to time (as well as health, finances, etc) progressing, and aren't picking up many NEW players. Those games are effectively on life support as a result. So, DB needs something new, something that will really pull in a fresh, and big, audience. EQNext could have been that. Heck, I even went back to DCUO on Xbox when they had said they were thinking about updating the game to work with the newest Unreal engine. Turns out, that's all they were doing: thinking. I'd really love to hear there will be an EQ3, and even MORE so if they announce for consoles in addition to PC. And, the most if they further announce that it will be 100% cross-platform. But, be very disappointed if they do like so many developers, and make the 'end game' all about PVP. To me, that is the developer being too lazy to be worth my time. They're copping out, and don't really have an end game, so they enable PVP at max level, whether you opted out all the way up or not, and have players be the end game. Takes like half an hour to code. Absolutely the worst sign of laziness on their part, imo. Hope DB doesn't do that.
Liked Lord Of The Rings Online on release, but interface there is so awful and with bugs - It is like they hired student with basic knowledge of deign, who just used default Microsoft color theme instead of customization layout... It looked awful on release and it is even worse now... I just don't get why they can't update it! Game have so much nice content, but it just looks cheap and bad....
I would try ashes , but i'm not paying 100 dollars to be an alpha tester for them. waiting for a reasonable option to try the game . I wish my friends would go back and do an eQ run with me one more time for the memories . ah well. Aion 2 was not on my bingo card ! interesting.
I want dnd online 2 or neverwinter nights 3 as a mmo dnd game with core dnd rules or maybe 3e or 3.5 and a real baldursgate gate 3 game not the shit they gave us
I had great hope for Throne and Liberty at first. I quit ESO for it as well and don't want to go back to WoW. But recently I'm loosing hope for TnL. With NC Soft having little to no plans for it, not listening to the players who are already tired and quitting due to large whale guild alliances owning everything and other things. I'm starting to feel like it's fun but like a 4th of July firework will look pretty and oohh and awww us for a short time then burn out and disappear.
It's not. And that's the point. It's been a few years. Some people may have missed it entirely and now they get to try it from the start. It also let's people relive some of their nostalgia which is comforting
My dude they develop expansions for multiple games every year. I get what you're saying but until they stop actually developing content for their games and shift into maintenance mode that doesn't work. Doubly so since they just added an entire indie development team to their banner under singularity 6 to finish developing and release Palia in 2025. But I totally get the frustration, don't get me wrong.
Thank god the sheepole continue to pour their money into blizzard so they can continue to push the envelope. I cant wait to hear about how diablo 17 invented putting gems in your items to creat new abilities.
Aion2 is dead on arrival if they take the combat system from Throne and Liberty. It's an atrocious system that takes all thought and skill out of the game. Aion was amazing due to the differences in the classes, the strengths and weaknesses of them, and the overwhelmingly breathtaking environment and 3d combat with flying.
I still hate WoW for killing off so many far better games than itself for so many years. Its a meh average mmo at best and its just sad how devoted people are to it.
It's kind of like a snowball in some respects, getting so big its hard to stop but also absorbs smaller attempts. It's hard to compete and it just gets harder to compete each passing year.
Aion 2 sounds good, but they will most liking bend players over backwards for cash. Nice modern-ish graphics but can't stand the eastern cartoonyness. Why the Hell can't anyone make a semi-real/gritty MMO, can't be graphics limits, God of War and Witcher 3 can pull off grime, blood, guts and gore so....? Only thing I can think is it's for the PEGI, ESRB ratings? Less brats the better imo. lol.
Probably two main reasons: Ratings like you said. The grittier you get, the smaller your audience. And with an MMO that can be dangerous. Age of Conan tried this. Second reason: those graphics are expensive, and with how much content gets devoured in an MMO that's a lot harder than say, Witcher 3, which has a single set cost (outside of DLCs) Its dual-edged of smaller audience + higher cost. But would love to see someone take the Age of Conan route again some time.
I'd say what's killing them is they're all trash. I thought aoc would be different but I paid 120 bucks for a crappy version of guild wars. Someone needs to change the dynamics of mmorpgs. they're boring and repetitive almost every one of them.
The mmo genre is stagnant and continues to double down on revamps or progression servers to squeeze just a little more money out of it. I have tried WoW a total of 6 times and I just can't stand it. Its geared towards child like mentality and is just not a good game and never was. I will never understand why people like it and as such I fully expect immature responses to my opinion. I have even been called a "boomer" for having my opinion, which just proves my point.
Same guy who plays World of Warcraft is talking shit about thrown in liberty. This guy is a hypocrite. Liberty got everything right you can earn money to buy everything in the cash shop from playing the game. Everything and thrown in liberty is bountiful World of Warcraft literally went to win and has MMO get off World of Warcrafts Dick the early 2000s are dead get over it. I have kind of lost my MMO mojo and think its time to hang that hat up for a while. This years experience with MMOs just is not sitting well with me. I hope they all do well and will watch to see what happens. I would like to do wow classic 1 more time on a fresh server just not sure I got it in me to fly solo again.
are you still gonna meet up with nate for another retro night though?
@@Alexander-ix2jp i would like to but it has to fit with his schedule
Come join the growing family in Ashes of Creation (TESTING in Alpha 2)! I've been testing since Alpha 1 and love it! There is so much to do and the list of things to do is growing as new content is added. I know pvp is a concern for some, but honestly, I hardly touch it or get touched by it.
I'm still working through my review of the game, need a *lot* more time but it will be from a PvE players perspective, and of course aware of it being in Alpha. Weekends get so full its been hard to find playing time.
I wonder what else old Bliz will be inspired from Guild Wars 2 to add to their next x-pack?
i hope the roller beetle is next.
Hybrid theory shirt ftw!
Hell yeah!
your hair should have its own channel 😎
they should make guild housing
Dude I know this channel is going to be huge. I really appreciate your prespective. I clicked on a couple culture war channels and now thats all my feed shows. Most aren't even about games, but parts of the game they hate. It is so annoying.
There's money in hate and keeping you miserable. It's not worth your time. Glad to have you here
Damn, I haven't thought about Aion for a hot decade. Would be nice if they did some good with it.
What's with the new server refresh it feels like I wasted my time leveling
It really just depends if you want to keep going in each expansion, Classic is in Cata for example, or if you want to start over. In EQ,LOTRO...etc. that have similar server types the old server remains, though populations tend to dip the longer they go on.
You should check the wow numbers because pretty sure they are down in both arena and Mythic they kinda broke both
At what point does wow classic become wow retail?
I'm not entirely sure how to answer your question because I'm thinking of 3 possibilities.
1. You're asking when the game would catch up to retail.
2. You're asking when the game would become more popular than retail
If this came to consoles, I would get it.
In other MMO news. NetEase is in trouble for some shady money laundering. I feel like this is karma for Diablo Immortal.
Doesn't bode super well for the Warhammer MMO...
I will play Aion2. Aion was a lot of fun.
@@olgak6734 yes but yo mama funner 😌
Wow Housing unfortunately is over a year away with it coming in Midnight! I loved AION when it first came out, but it slowly went way down over the years!
Bad ass shirt dude
Thank you!
Love your channel, let me ask you though, why the heavy wow hate?
Not hating on wow. Hating on their monetization choices recently.
Bois remember Aion vision trailer
The Warcraft remasters are out already! The battle chest is back too.
Oh Snap, I remember Aion, I played it a bit and thought the flying was cool. I also played a supee cute lady.
Throne and Liberty is the only way
I will keep a aion, aion2
Liked Lord Of The Rings Online on release, but interface there is so awful and with bugs - It is like they hired student with basic knowledge of deign, who just used default Microsoft color theme instead of customization layout... It looked awful on release and it is even worse now...
I just don't get why they can't update it! Game have so much nice content, but it just looks cheap and bad....
They're welcome not to screw up Aion 2 this time with their stupid forced PVP. Just make a normal MMORPG and have a PVP server. Duh.
I would try ashes , but i'm not paying 100 dollars to be an alpha tester for them. waiting for a reasonable option to try the game . I wish my friends would go back and do an eQ run with me one more time for the memories . ah well. Aion 2 was not on my bingo card ! interesting.
Project LLL looks fuckin badass
My two big concerns: we've only seen a curated trailer, second monetization, what will it be?
im no expert but it seems like they are building revenue with existing titles before spending a bunch of fuckin money on eq3
I love Aion, but based on available information, I am afraid it is another disappointment from NCsoft
Make Gaming Great Again... all this was *meh* at best...
Why are people excited by wow classic again???? We just had that I feel 🤷♂️. Like how is it different?
It's not. And that's the point. It's been a few years. Some people may have missed it entirely and now they get to try it from the start. It also let's people relive some of their nostalgia which is comforting
ROFLMAO still dreaming of EQ3 from Daybreak. They are a game warehouse, not developer.
That looks like a 3rd person shooter, not a FPS.
I loved aion but nc soft are gonna monetize the shit out if it and we all know it
Thank god the sheepole continue to pour their money into blizzard so they can continue to push the envelope. I cant wait to hear about how diablo 17 invented putting gems in your items to creat new abilities.
AION 2 !!!!!!!! ur kidding me. My gf at the time gave me aion cake and the game :D
Throne and Liberty is Pay to Win, so will Guild Wars 3 or Aion 2 be
Vanguard and SWG Remastered anyone?
New classic servers?! Indonesian gold sellers rejoice!
Aion2 is dead on arrival if they take the combat system from Throne and Liberty. It's an atrocious system that takes all thought and skill out of the game. Aion was amazing due to the differences in the classes, the strengths and weaknesses of them, and the overwhelmingly breathtaking environment and 3d combat with flying.
feels like they just copy more stuff from gw2 LOL
Aion 2 a long time ago is mobile, o hope ncsoft change mind.
Corepunk
Little to no pvp?.......total flop imo. I love the original game a ot and wish they kinda kept going that direction.
ashes of creation is a pvp game too ffs
Yes?
I still hate WoW for killing off so many far better games than itself for so many years. Its a meh average mmo at best and its just sad how devoted people are to it.
It's kind of like a snowball in some respects, getting so big its hard to stop but also absorbs smaller attempts. It's hard to compete and it just gets harder to compete each passing year.
@@Redbeardflynn and i'm like you, i'm so wanting an EQ3 but i'm not holding my breath lol
Aion whatever happened there
Never touch a ncsoft game. Never.
Except guild wars 2?
Anyone who thinks Aion 2 is going to be anything other than a p2w mess is crazyyyy.
hey dude, there's no reason to be dropping F bombs when your discussing a children's charity, come on now read the room, so tacky
No
corepunk was hot garbage lol
Second reason: those graphics are expensive, and with how much content gets devoured in an MMO that's a lot harder than say, Witcher 3, which has a single set cost (outside of DLCs)
Its dual-edged of smaller audience + higher cost.
The game looks like it was made by a two year old Minecraft looks bitter than wow thrown in liberty is the better game and the best recent MMO release of this decade
lol ok. I'm glad you're enjoying throne and liberty.
to me Ashes feels like Rift i thought it would be more like Archeage but its so far away from it.
nothing wrong with that. Before they ruined it with p2w stuff and other terrible additions early Rift was an excellent MMO
NCsoft? lame dev just like Bethesda and CD-project-dead never again.
your acting is borderline cringe, great information though
Oh it's more than borderline cringe. It is cringe.
dude...WoW and their "classic" fresh start bullshit lol just give up
❤
Aion is p2w.. no thx
Tone down the normie humorism mate... too much
No
AoC alpha II is pretty good.
F WoW it f me to many times. Trash. Make it make sense it took the 20years to make housing and more and they make millions per month off the game.
AoC kick starter and it’s shaping up very well and it’s fun and feels meaningful.
housing in MMOs is trash 99% of the time anyway, I don't know why people get hyped about it. "oh look I made a house and maybe a few people will come and see it 1 time to be nice and then that's it. soOo cool" It just never works out
Linkin Park sucks
😱
City of Heroes 2 when? 🥲
