LOL, your mention of Firiona Vie at 2:48 brought back some memories! I was a guide in *EverQuest* back in the early days when community members could volunteer as guides. We had special powers on a designated character to help players, like getting them unstuck, dragging them across the world if they died in water, and other similar tasks. There was one guide, Llara-a guy from Texas-who I became friends with. Tragically, he passed away in real life, and the devs honored him by placing a statue of "her" in the Guide Castle in the Sky. We even held an in-game funeral for her. One Halloween, they had us roleplay with scripts, and I got to play Firiona Vie. It was wild-I was 200 feet tall, and players could approach me to receive a week-long buff and special items. It was one of the most memorable experiences. Here’s another story: one guide got bored and completely lost it. He summoned hundreds of players onto the top of a dragon, creating absolute chaos. It took weeks for the devs to clean up that mess. The guide program eventually ended because Sony got sued for exploiting us as unpaid labor. We worked at least 20 hours a week in exchange for a free subscription. A court ruled that the "pay" was effectively pennies per hour and shut the program down. Looking back, it was fun, but being a guide kind of ruined the game for me. I had the power to go anywhere, clip through walls, and fly across the map. I saw behind the curtain, and the magic just wasn’t the same after that.
This is what MMOs are missing these days! Large scale in game, story/lore building events and GMs/guides!! And roleplaying that doesn't revolve around someone's centric erotic/trauma story 😆 I'll never forget a late night in High Pass on my haughty high elf enchantress, being tempted to friendship by a half elf GM with cookies 💜 But I do totally see how the game could lose a bunch of its adventure zest with those kind of powers :( thank you for participating anyway, and for making the game part of what it was!
Man, I pumped so many hours into galaxies prior to combat upgrade. THOSE years leading up to 2005/2006 were the most exciting times for gaming. But that’s a rather complex topic itself :)
I'd like to be optimistic but after pouring so many hours of my life into following/writing on forums about Everquest Next, it's hard to get my hopes up.
Can you imagine from a lore perspective a new EQ in which the events of EQ2 was a nightmare premonition experienced by Firiona, pivotal to changes and happenings in the current game of EQ3? It would also be a hilarious analogy as someone who’s played and enjoyed EQ2 in multiple bouts since it’s release.
Nothing could ever recapture the magic and timing of Everquest. But an updated Everquest would definitely draw many of those who played the original back. Keep the classic music though!
I legit want the next EverQuest to be Elden Ring-esque with actual classes with class specific spells/skills. Imagine going down into Nagafens Liar and having to defeat Lord Djarn, King Tranix, and Warlord Skarlon, finally reaching down to Lord Nagafen for insane loot? Or Going into Unrest and mowing threw undead. Keep the exact map, sounds and music.
I would be super psyched for a reboot of the original EQ! I would even be happy if it took place of EQ3, and the new game followed the same EQ lore but from a different timeline with new consequences and events. That way it's a new EQ game but with the same blood a modern EQ reboot would have.
I always thought it was a good idea to keep the game play that works from EQ1, keep the locations, characters, music, themes, etc. and use all that to update the graphics to current technological capabilities. Where possible take away the zone walls and that sort of thing. Prevent trains to the zone line, like it other games where the stuff will chase you for awhile, but eventually lose interest and return to their designated area(s). I'd also revamp the crafting system, make it less tedious and crafted items more meaningful and useful, so that you don't have to be an ubber player to get and use excellent gear. Also, the EQ2 model for building properties up basically from scratch using items you collect in the world and bought stuff from Player Studio artists, (even though they ended that a long time ago, us artists appreciate that people are still buying and using the housing items we created for them.)
Im so excited for the EQ REMAKE!! ! omg. slightly excited for a 3rd installment. was kinda burnt after Landmark. Still holding out for Pantheon though, this Early access should be fun!
I've been wanting a new everquest for many many years but I've also wanted a visual makeover of original everquest to modern graphics and style but still keeping the original EQ style. Modern graphics, no addons, no macro's, 1st person perspective, tab target, and focused on group content to the point most classes can't solo effectively at all. Further release it as original EQ was without all the expacs. Only thing thing would be a few changes to very rare spawns and raids to be able to accomodate a much larger population. Can't have 100 people camping for a Robe of the Oracle on an 8 hour spawn timer and only 1 drop and twinking your level 1 monk with an FBSS is a bit crazy as well.
Definitely hyped! But also cautious-EQN left a mark. Unrelated, I was quite happily surprised to see you in Dawnshroud Peaks the other day! I’ve seen your corpses numerous times, but that was my first time seeing you upright. 😉
I wonder how many of the old game designs/systems would still exist in a modern EQ? Things were slow, cumbersome, inconvenient, and so on... but they were made that way for many reasons. One reason is that those things made it seem more believable, like a world instead of a game. New games can look absolutely stunning visually, but at the same time feel so fake functionally so it makes it harder to become immersed. If it's not designed right then you are constantly reminded that you are just playing a game, not exploring a world. Combat was mostly a simple and boring auto-attack so you would end up chatting with others while fighting instead of spamming 12345 skills over and over for the whole fight. Recovery was slow so you would be more likely to interact and connect with others while waiting. The world was dangerous to traverse so you needed to become stronger/faster, become knowledgeable about enemies and locations, or find someone who was. Death had a real impact on your character so you had to be really careful; even becoming too injured would increase your risk of dying because your speed and agility would drop. Player interaction tended to be mostly positive in nature because there were far more ways that they could help you instead of inconveniencing you such as speeding up hp/mp recovery, buffing you, finding your dead body, resurrecting your dead body, summoning you food/water/bags/weapons/light sources/et cetera, grouping with you so you don't have to recover after every fight, and so on. I could go on and on about all this. 😛 If Darkpaw wants to modernize everything then hopefully they find modern solutions on how to reproduce what players were able to experience decades ago. They need to think long and hard about what they can do to make an immersive world that's chocked full of systems/designs that constantly cause players to interact and rely on each other in a positive manner.
OMG if they actually pull off an updated eq1 I will be so happy. Verant made such an indepth world. Their lore was so well done. You got to learn so much about the world just by the basics of the game and game play. EQ2 lore was just all over the place and often contradicted itself or changed it xpack to xpack.
I love the idea of a revamped EQ being branded as EQ3. Going back through everything, fixing what didn't work, improving and expanding upon already existing lore/content (bring back the sense of wonder that EQ once had and make it even bigger!), and bring EQ into the modern day and age of graphics. As I type this out, I wonder, does the EQ team have the resources and crew to make this a possibility? Especially if they're going to continue to support EQ1 and EQ2, I think they'll either have to buy another game developer to start from scratch, outsource it(?) or build the bones behind the scenes for a few years while hiring and continuing to build it. I'd like to see a company like Larian get involved, with the level of detail they put into BG3, the world of norrath could shine. A lackluster revamp will feel like a cash grab with an even further irritated fan base, but given the time/effort it deserves it could be great.
You're right, they would have to hire to ramp up the development team. Daybreak management mentioned as such in their September 2023 Capital Markets day. My dream? Would love for them to partner with FromSoftware or Larian.
It needs ocean content like archeage, ships, treasure hunting, dungeons and events. It needs to have the level down and individual loot system like GW2. The whole roll and one persin in raid gets something is a dead and horrid concept. It will also need to be open world with seamless zoning with transversing exploration. It needs to have a system like gw2 where no zones or content are obsolete. So players at all levels will always have fun together.
Nostalgia really drives people to come back to EQ and make it feel fun. That same nostalgia will really drive players to a EQ1 remake vs an EQ3. I love EQ but Josh Strife Hayes's review is pretty spot on...
A reboot is a very intelligent idea. As an investor in EG7, that is the kind of thinking / news I like to hear. It would be cost effective and would capitalize on the elements that worked the best for Everquest. (I.E. Going that route would have the most chance at bringing back the EQ magic.) It will be interesting how they would revamp the combat system or update it ... not to mention, in a day of instant information how they can maintain that feeling of magic / mystery in exploring the world. Exploration, and vast expanse of world, was a big part of that magic.
EQ was my first MMOPG and love it. Along with anything like it, EQ2, EQ Next, Wow, New World ect. If they just made EQ with modern or next level graphics they would rule the game world.
Hype. All that's needed is the existing world updated and with a more streamlined combat system. EQ1 had some of the most immersive world exploration and dungeon delving i've ever experienced in an online game.
This sounds like great news. Now they only need a pretty large team to do what needs to be done. At this point Darkpaw is probably too small for it. But besides this...let them cook. I really like what they do with Everquest 2 and want to see their reboot.
I've been saying it a different people's ears and I recommend everybody do the same. There is more than one way you can teleport between two different games. Therefore Everquest 3 can be located by a portal in EverQuest. Any glitches or anything would be completely separate allowing two games to develop but you can keep your original character and cross a zone line onto another server. Some of that technology is already under development with the name saving feature. As well as personas. why? You can have achievements recognized from EQ 1 translate into effects if you gain an eq3 It allows for a parallel reality that doesn't really step on the toes between the two development teams what does make them conscientious of the layout and lore by giving players access to a back and forth. It forces nothing other than a character's name to be recognized and allows for Creative opportunities with anything else that would transfer back and forth. Encouraging new players to check out eq1 while making efforts feel like it's all Unified
Lol.. rather than me sitting here in my room.. you have also cultivated your community and been loyal to what you love by following and reporting on it.
EQ remade with Breath of the Wild or Palia style graphics, World of Warcraft's Classic/Vanilla leveling and gameplay, and a UI like WoW Retail and it sells like hotcakes. Literal hotcakes.
I love it when my favorite Everquest player channel bringing me news that he is clearly very excited about. You got me so hyped now too, Red Thank you for the content you make for us!
This has always been tricky because EQ2 totally cannibalized the audience and then most just went to WOW. I was a hardcore player in EQ1 on Veeshan and was in one of the first guilds that hit Plane of Time. Thinking back to how insane those years were - I basically lost 2 years of my life from raiding full time. After GoD came out I was just burned out and played EQ2 off and on until a few years ago. I would hire some of the best talent you could. Some of the original devs of WoW and EQ haven't been active for a long time and maybe they can come up with some cool ways to reboot EQ. Maybe even get some input from Larian. A lot of these devs have fond memories of EQ because it was their first MMO also. It could be an amazing come back if done right.
I think a console version makes sense if you can build it to work kind of like how FFXIV. I'd be shocked if WoW isn't on console soon too just because it expands your audience so much. The downside tends to be of course social communication but many if not most people use voice communication now as is.
My bet is on people trying it out and going back to EQ. It's going to have to be chart topping, off the scales, a phenomenal masterpiece to pull away the EQ faithful.
A reboot of the original is more than I could have hoped for! I don't play much EQ1 at this point in time (currently playing EQ2), but I think a reboot would be fantastic. I do greatly enjoy a lot of the lore and story that EQ2 has, so I hope they incorporate EQ2 lore somehow in the EQ reboot. Excited regardless!
EQ was absolutely the best MMORPG experience I have had. My guild, Des Cendres on Mith Marr, knew each other through the game. We talked on the phone, we interacted outside the game. We were friends. I even had a theme song I could blast in global chat, and people would request it. OK, a few blocked me too....their loss. I have never found the sense of community I had in EQ and I really miss it as I am now older and like to reminisce. I hope this happens, EQ reboot or EQ 3. Signed, Yowen No Pants.
Making a game nowadays I feel you better damn well have good-to-great gameplay/combat as your foundation. Of course these things are way easier said than done, but this is why you hire the right people (and consultants, if you must). Personally, I can't stand auto-attacking anymore, I've done it for long enough, so hopefully that's not returning. I also can't stand the "everything falls over dead" animations. These two things really hurt my brain in 2024, but at least the graphics should see a ridiculous improvement in Unreal Engine. I also had the idea that maybe players can unlock their previous EQ1 characters by reaching that same level as the same class, maybe you're freeing "yourself" from being imprisoned, or quite dead. Idk, I'm rambling and excited.
Actually... might not take very long to make that game. But, first, LOVE the shirt!! They already have all of the IP itself fully defined, no need to really do anything else with it. They already have the basic graphical designs, just need to redo them with current tech. If they are going with the FromSoftware approach... then even the mechanics aren't going to take much work, as they already have the framework. It's the difference of buying an engineering program, and fully designing a brand new automobile from scratch, then sourcing the materials, hiring new talent to head it up, and so much more... versus taking a classic you already have, and rebuilding it to have modern radio, ABS, power steering, etc. It takes a LOT less time. Normal MMOs today take 5+ years to make. This could actually be handled in 2-4. They already have everything. So, this could be a really brilliant idea on their part!
Man, I freaking love EQ. Played on Live until GoD/OoW, helped beta for P99 and played there for years, as well as multiple other private servers. Had a blast on TAKP, love Shards of Dalaya. Plan on giving Heroes Journey a go soon but I just went back to Live on my old server Cazic Thule. Playing on Test now with a friend of mine who was born the Year EQ came out and he's loving it. Oh, and for the record I'm wearing a shirt right now that says "Straight Outta Cabilis"
Stand-out things about EQ1 is the loot system, crafting quests where you just have to find the bits and combine them, quests starting when you find clues out in the world, having to find your corpse when you die to get your items back. Also public dungeons and a world where you can just run off somewhere and farm mobs, meet & group with nice helpful people. The other thing I loved was you were most certainly NOT the 'chosen one', destined to save the world, which is so overdone and lame. Most of all the art had a great fantasy feel and you could get completely lost in the world. EQ2 was great as well, and the music was very memorable.
I played EQ1 and 2 and have played many other MMORPGs over the last 20 years. In my opinion, the EQ1 enchanter class is the most interesting and exciting class in MMORPG history. The only thing that comes close is an Arcane Dragon Priest in Elden Ring.
Update graphics and combat animations while keeping the "danger" feel in community dungeons plus the freedom of back in the day EQ would be one of the right steps.
@@Redbeardflynn Heroes Journey server. multiclass, single box. Very high population, like it feels like a full live server from back in the day. Lots of fun so far :)
What the combat needs to be is a mixture of classic everquest and Everquest 2 style of Target/auto attack/ cast active spells. What I mean by this is, more like classic everquest in nature with actively used skills like everquest 2 has but just not so much of them so that you can use the AA system again and there not be 16+ skills to press. 2-4 active skills per class while auto attacking is like the golden ratio. As long as you have filler spells for utility and other situation stuff that gamifies the combat that's all you really need. APM doesn't even need to be all that high to make a great game like OG Everquest.
Reboot would be wholey awesome and welcome. For the financial sense reasons you mentioned, but also because original EQ Lore was really, really good. EQNext lore, on the other hand... 😅
I wouldn't mind it, but I would want the cities bigger, especially Felwithe and some of the dungeons could be bigger, like crushbone and maybe unrest. and I wouldn't mind if they added more quests and crafting expansion.
An EQ reboot with games like ECO and M&M coming... maybe a day late and a dollar short? They have the advantage of funding and scaled up dev studio, though. Given how they've handled EQ and EQ2 over the years, I'm excited, but that excitement is tempered more than a little.
If this happens, I'm sure I will be probably into my late 40s when it releases, and by then it might just be too late, but I'm certainly interested in how it develops.
I would love a reboot of the original game, plus maybe Velious and Kunark to start. As with features, add the features that really work. Keep the lore, classes and races.
I just picked up everquest again. Left the game during PoP. 77 monk and missed the game so much. And it was a pleasant surprise that there a few old schoolers still playing from way back Tholuxe days. Eq 3? I'll be the first to sign up.
Love the remake idea. I do think they need to integrate boxing and/or add AI players to the game though. Chasing the dream of 24/7 EQ in college with a guild isn't possible for many and as much as I love EQ I don't my kids skipping class to play!
When playing on a fresh server last year for EQ1, there are so many minor things that a remake could to do improve the game. Having actual instances for groups/not having to constantly sit down to farm xp.. or better actually doing the dungeons rather than sitting in parts of them.. And the biggest one is probably the world spawn enemies that drop the best gear, sitting around for a whole day hoping for a spawn is just dumb. I loved the community and the scope of the world, and I accepted the jank.. But an updated versio of the game I'd 100% play.
I agree. Just remake EQ. No need to rewrite any lore. Use old maps, update the art, save a lot of work. It's still a massive operation to make a new game, but it will be the game the EQ fans want.
Have stated for years, take the game mechanics with the TLP quality of life improvements, update the engine, redo the zones and graphics. Release it one expansion at a time, they would make a fortune
The brain trust and talent just simply aren't there to make an Everquest 3... a reboot *could be possible because it's basically just tweaking what is already there. Exactly what Darkpaw has done well with EQ and EQ2.
I would love if the game would actually be as hard as it was back in the day. it really encouraged people to go and find other people to play with. I made a lot of friends back then. (And maybe leave the stuff on the corpse so you have to ran back to get it. HAHA)
That would be super disappointing for me tbh. I've been waiting 15 years for a "next" EverQuest lol. All that work everybody put into landmark as well would be wasted, as you can't add it into a game that already has a pre-established world. Not that I'm against a remake... If they wanted to do that though, why not just do a remaster later on? I'm all for making a brand new game based off of EQ1 mechanic wise though.. as much as I enjoyed EQ2, there were things missing from EQ1 that would add to the experience.
So they made a comment a while back specifically about LOTRO because it was going to be remastered but they found that it was going to cost them something like 30 million to remaster it so the quote was essentially "Why not just make a new game?" Remasters would have less return because there's a lot of archaic issues, notably the UI which they've been trying to revamp in EQ for years now.
THIS would be the best idea possible. The main reason why I never moved past EQ1 was that I (and a lot of others) were emotionally attached to the characters we spent YEARS investing our blood, sweat, and tears into. And we couldn't take them into EQ2. If they remake EQ1 and allow us to migrate existing characters (or just do graphic and UI updates), they've got a winner on their hands. All the attention the TLPs are getting proves that. But I'd like to see an option to drop down to old school graphics (like the option to use pre-Luclin armor graphics and character models) so those of us who run multiple accounts on a glorified toaster will still be able to do so.
I would be beyond shocked if they allowed characters to migrate to a new game. Apart from the difficulty involved in something like that, this is a different game. The question actually came up *a lot* for EQ2 and it was a hard no for many reasons, some technical, some based on just wanting a fresh game, not a continuation. We did want to move our characters over in 2004 though, I remember that argument keenly back then.
I really like the idea of seeing a new or rebooted EQ down the road and that the team has confirmed the possibility of such. However, with that said, as a big-time EQ player from 99 until EQ2/WoW came out, I refuse to get myself in such a hype as we were back during the EQ Next time period. I invested such energy into what ultimately turned out to be a huge letdown. It will be what it is, I just can't spend my time on the hype until there's a playable beta. Good coverage and it is interesting though. Thanks.
I feel like if they remake EQ they should give some of the non caster classes a few more abilities and probably release it with Kunark so there is more raid content. i also think they should give some of the bosses actual mechanics instead of throw 72 people at them.
A reboot of EQ1 with updated graphics is what I've been needing in my life for so long...wait, then i wouldn't have a life again, just like the old school MMO days. I'm stronger this time around, I will control the Evercrack instead of the Evercrack controlling me. yeah, that's it. I'm stronger this time...I'll just keep repeating this to myself.
It's a perfect time for this. Many people, like myself, played EverQuest from it's very beginning, and then left when EQII came out, and then shortly thereafter went on to play WoW. Now WoW is becoming such crap, and we're all looking to relive that experience that WoW Classic "promised." So why not a reboot of EverQuest? I tried EverQuest again a couple of years ago, but like WoW, it just wasn't familiar enough to what I remembered from all those years ago. I'm stoked for this.

And roleplaying that doesn't revolve around someone's centric erotic/trauma story 😆 I'll never forget a late night in High Pass on my haughty high elf enchantress, being tempted to friendship by a half elf GM with cookies 💜
But I do totally see how the game could lose a bunch of its adventure zest with those kind of powers :( thank you for participating anyway, and for making the game part of what it was!
That star wars galaxies box hit me hard...
did someone throw it at you?
Man, I pumped so many hours into galaxies prior to combat upgrade. THOSE years leading up to 2005/2006 were the most exciting times for gaming. But that’s a rather complex topic itself :)
I'd like to be optimistic but after pouring so many hours of my life into following/writing on forums about Everquest Next, it's hard to get my hopes up.
Caution is always warranted. Especially this early. It's not even in pre-production yet so even EQnext was further along than this.
Going to have to agree on this one.
What they really need to keep is to keep the original EQ skeleton audio.
I would love this! An Elden Ring type of MMO would be awesome. I really hope they bring us something special. (without a shitty cash shop)
I would be super psyched for a reboot of the original EQ! I would even be happy if it took place of EQ3, and the new game followed the same EQ lore but from a different timeline with new consequences and events. That way it's a new EQ game but with the same blood a modern EQ reboot would have.
I would love this. You could kind of keep the same history before EQ1 then branch out from there. EQ1's lore is crazy rich, especially early on.
RNGesus has been listening to my prayers.
As huge eq2 lover who didnt play eq1, i hope my needs will also be fulfilled :)
Definitely hyped! But also cautious-EQN left a mark. Unrelated, I was quite happily surprised to see you in Dawnshroud Peaks the other day! I’ve seen your corpses numerous times, but that was my first time seeing you upright. 😉
I mean, sure its promising news....IF its done right. they need to walk back the Raiding as the primary gameplay mechanism.
If Darkpaw wants to modernize everything then hopefully they find modern solutions on how to reproduce what players were able to experience decades ago.
Remake EQ1 in Unreal Engine 5 or something? I would play it so much!
There's no way to invent a better EQ, might as well reskin the old one
Thanks for the video! The MinnMax video is awesome. Shout out to Dragon Lair! What a memory jolt it was to hear that game referenced.
Thank you for this hopeful news! EQ and EQ2 were my teenage years. The music brings nostalgia. I’d love an EQ3.
As well as personas.
why?
You can have achievements recognized from EQ 1 translate into effects if you gain an eq3
It allows for a parallel reality that doesn't really step on the toes between the two development teams what does make them conscientious of the layout and lore by giving players access to a back and forth.
It forces nothing other than a character's name to be recognized and allows for Creative opportunities with anything else that would transfer back and forth.
Encouraging new players to check out eq1 while making efforts feel like it's all Unified
I'm excited about an EQ remake also though i cant wait!
I'm excited too just keep in mind this is very very early. We should know more in 2025 i imagine just from financial documents alone.
I started EQ when i was 14 when it had just launched, until about 2005. Played P99 for like a year and Quarm for about 3 months.
Excited but cautious
Lol.. rather than me sitting here in my room.. you have also cultivated your community and been loyal to what you love by following and reporting on it.
EQ remade with Breath of the Wild or Palia style graphics, World of Warcraft's Classic/Vanilla leveling and gameplay, and a UI like WoW Retail and it sells like hotcakes.
Literal hotcakes.
I need a passionate fan to create a render of what a modern EQ might look like. Go!
I love it when my favorite Everquest player channel bringing me news that he is clearly very excited about. You got me so hyped now too, Red
Thank you for the content you make for us!
3:55 , maybe a slight hint at Consoles version as well ?
Signed, Yowen No Pants.
dervish cutthroats and running for your life and the ancient cyclops coming out of no where and finding him was a joy
I was super excited for EverQuest Next, I hope someone makes a game that looks and plays like it at some point.
Actually... might not take very long to make that game.
Old republic must be afraid of Star Wars Eclips 😂 I hope EQ3 does what they said, more like EQ1. Need some Champions of Norrath reboot too!
Even just a pc port of champions kf norrath 1 and 2
Is not tab target that makes eq1 it's the memorisation of spells, the camping and the dayz like fear of the world
I would definitely play an updated EverQuest.
I would love an updated EQ! Tried to revisit EQ a couple of years ago but I just couldn't deal with the dated interface.
Playing an on an EQ Emu server while watching this video.
Which one?
Do we get non-instanced camping with epic trains in Cazic Thule or Lower Guk?
Reboot would be wholey awesome and welcome. For the financial sense reasons you mentioned, but also because original EQ Lore was really, really good. EQNext lore, on the other hand... 😅
4:28, there it is redboy, now let's talk Swtor!
Haha soon. Video is recorded, just needs to be edited down.
I was a hardcore EQ2 player. PVPer on Venekor, I’m ready for 3
I would love a reboot of the original game, plus maybe Velious and Kunark to start. As with features, add the features that really work. Keep the lore, classes and races.
This could be insane!
I hope that I'm still around for this, I'm so excited and the possibility already haha
Thank you for the update, RedBeard, fingers crossed we get something shiny and new for EverQuest! .. eventually! ... maybe? 🤣
An EQ1 faithful remake would be amazing. EQ2 was nothing like 1, that's why people didn't migrate.
This has me so hopeful and excited. The future of mmo's seems good, and not dead
The brain trust and talent just simply aren't there to make an Everquest 3... a reboot *could be possible because it's basically just tweaking what is already there. Exactly what Darkpaw has done well with EQ and EQ2.
Did EQ1 have the EQ2 crafting housing trophy systems?
I saw this video and about pooped my britches
I didn't even fix my damn hair for the video I was so excited.
Had the same reaction (celestial music and everything) to the remake idea :P
I would love if the game would actually be as hard as it was back in the day. it really encouraged people to go and find other people to play with. I made a lot of friends back then. (And maybe leave the stuff on the corpse so you have to ran back to get it. HAHA)
I could die happy if this reboot gave us Ratongas in the EQ1 world.
Sounds like great news
That would be super disappointing for me tbh. I've been waiting 15 years for a "next" EverQuest lol. All that work everybody put into landmark as well would be wasted, as you can't add it into a game that already has a pre-established world. Not that I'm against a remake... If they wanted to do that though, why not just do a remaster later on? I'm all for making a brand new game based off of EQ1 mechanic wise though.. as much as I enjoyed EQ2, there were things missing from EQ1 that would add to the experience.
So they made a comment a while back specifically about LOTRO because it was going to be remastered but they found that it was going to cost them something like 30 million to remaster it so the quote was essentially "Why not just make a new game?"
Remasters would have less return because there's a lot of archaic issues, notably the UI which they've been trying to revamp in EQ for years now.
I would definitely be interested in a reboot of EverQuest. 😎👍
I will be there if they do a reboot great video man.
THIS would be a dream come true! After all this time...but I'm in!!!
I always meant to try Everquest. I might actually try this.
So, it's a loaf...news loaf...um, fan loaf?
It's a perfect time for this. Many people, like myself, played EverQuest from it's very beginning, and then left when EQII came out, and then shortly thereafter went on to play WoW. Now WoW is becoming such crap, and we're all looking to relive that experience that WoW Classic "promised." So why not a reboot of EverQuest? I tried EverQuest again a couple of years ago, but like WoW, it just wasn't familiar enough to what I remembered from all those years ago. I'm stoked for this.
Please god yes!!!!!!!! Revamped EQ1.....ive been asking for it for literal decades 🤣
