Plastics can become brittle with age and exposure to the environment. I have seen pallets of plastic sway bar links in a warehouse that were so brittle you could crush them in your hand. Ozone will deteriorate plastic. Companies get away with making sway bar links out of plastic simply because it,s not a safety critical component, if it fails on the vehicle, no one dies! your handling just feels wrong in a turn.
