  • Currently the western half of the nation faces the full extent of winter with fairly mild conditions situated for the east. However, as we roll into next week the upper air pattern will reconfigure itself to favor far more cold, wet weather for the eastern US especially through the south and Mid-Atlantic regions with the next two major storm systems looming ahead

      Could just be the new mic arm! It’s much closer to me now so I can speak much clearer into the mic itself

    Great live last night!!
    So i have a question... Kind of a "theory" I've been considering... I live in right by the airport in Sarasota and lived here cpl years ago (before i lived onboard a sailboat for a 2 years, was epic) but we Used to get Major thunderstorms here but this past year+... Nada. I watch radar (like we all prolly do lol) and storms come Barrelling right at us, then Poof, they split n go north n south. I've watched it again and again...
    My question is: could the airport radar/frequency have changed and cause this clearly visible "split"?? Is that even a "thing"??
    Its the only thing that makes sense to me 🤷🏼‍♀️ so I figured I'd ask the expert. ✌️❤️🙏

      I see where you’re going with that! An interesting theory for sure, and I wish I could testify more. But I’m thinking our erroneous weather we experienced last year was due to very hot ocean waters and El Niño steering patterns

      No. The reason you had little rain is because of the effects of El Nino and strong southwest jet winds. In the summer, whenever we get prevailing winds where thunderstorms develop, the closer the storms are to the coast from the winds, the less rain. In other words, southeast winds from Bermuda High means more rain over west central Florida. Opposite is true when southwest winds blow and there is dry air. During La Nina, your area gets more rain and east coast gets less. If the El Niño is strong during summer like 1998, then the whole state is drier than normal. The enso will likely be cool neutral starting in June, which means a wet summer ahead.

    Dry weekend for Florida. Then the following week, be weather aware. Possible severe outbreak. This weekend for states: Texas to Ohio, small risk of severe storms and isolated tornadoes. Be weather aware. Be sure you have a weather radio that works and have a storm plan and be ready to implement it if needed. No fear. Just prepare.

      Florida won’t see much until Monday thru Tuesday. Lots of designations for severe weather to our north but peninsula looks to be out of the woods at least currently. Still watching that second feature, models are very skeptical being as far out as we are

      @@WxCenterNazario Yep, always a good idea to remind people to be weather aware when there is even a small possibility of bad weather. Missed the weather over Illinois and Wisconsin. Dropped the ball. Not doing that again. Florida definitely looks nice this weekend. Early spring like weekend. Week of 18 February is a doozy.

    With that second Strom that will be in the gulf could that become a tropical Strom?

    • @WxCenterNazario
      @WxCenterNazario  5 месяцев назад +2

      Great question, but no. This will be subtropical jet supported so weak fronts but supported by upper level winds versus entirely warm core and driven by ocean temps like a tropical system.

    • @pm5206
      @pm5206 5 месяцев назад

      No. But recurring patterns happen and if we average the repeat cycle, it’s about 48 days. Key dates for this upcoming pattern: 18 February, 7 April, 25 May, 12 June, 29 August, 16 October. 3, possibly 4 dates for potential tropical cyclone activity near the Louisiana to Florida. Those dates are approximate and that means we need to monitor the Gulf region around that time for potential tropical activity.
