Yeah, I think I fried my fan LEDs by plugging them into a MSI 12V header (poorly labeled). So pissed, but at least the fans spin up and work. I'll live with it for now.

Dude I just built a PC after 15 years of not doing so... back then everything was powered via Molex or SATA... I did connect a 3-pin into a 4-pin, but thank god nothing died... I guess maybe the RGB leds died a little? I will be more careful next time! This video is GOATED!

Funny this gets recommended to me the day after I fry my board in almost the same way. PSU that was released in 2023 for some unknown reason had a FDD connector (yes, floppy drive) coming off the molex cable and since the molex cables were connected to the fans, I assumed the FDD connector was a fan connector since they look similar enough. Plugged it into a fan header and now the board is dead.

If you haven’t done it yet, a simple way of knowing where to plug it in is looking at the wires on your fans. Is there 3 wires or 4 on the RGB cable? If there’s 3 wires, plug into the 3 pin.

@@ulysses4989 i just figured it out... the 4 pin RGB is not meant to go into one of those two RGB Headers. It's meant to go into the 3 way splitter Corsair gives you. There's 3 RGB headers on it, and a 3 pin on the other end. The 3 pin goes into your motherboards 3 pin RGB header (pin 3 is blank). The RGB header from the core has to go into one of the 3 splitters.
