Happy Weds guys! Welcome to part 1 of 2 videos we filmed today in Detroit while driving the 2025 Ford Explorer! We will be posting part 2 on 7/23 at 6am EST, so be sure to come back then to watch our full review on the Explorer ST with driving impressions!
Wife has had her explorer over 10 years 166k miles. Has never had an issue. She is due for a new one though hope this one last as long and as reliable.
I rent alot of Explorers for business travel and it is a good value for what you get. The main issues is the drivetrain, it was never smooth and kinda irky jerky in its handling. The Ecoboost versions had great power but is very rough reving and vibrates. The transmission is not smooth but does shift quickly. Infotainment has always worked flawlessly. I love the Intelligent Adaptive cruise control, because this system dectects speed limit signs and adjust accordingly with a threashold that you can set. Really nice feature and helps keep you away from getting speeding tickets in roads that has cops camping out exatcly where the speed limit changes to catch you of guard and earn them revenue.
@@Riseup425I have a blue ST with no roof rails. People think I am a police car a lot and pull over. I have had people off to the side of the road and let me by. On the highway I get some people pull over let me pass and get back on the passing lane again. It is funny.
@@ghostmofo5829 Yeah it's just strange that lower trim F-150 has shocks but not Explorer? I guess they figure the F-150 needs it as it is havier maybe?

@@thejake8099 I was a kid. My dad owned a run down motel and mom was teaching school, so their salary together back in the early 90s I guess was 80-100k
@@thejake8099 - my dad would always lease vehicles, occasionally buy. So every 2 years we had a new vehicle. One thing to note - you can't get 7-passenger seating with the V6. So all ST's are 6 passenger. You can get the Platinum with 3-across second row and the 4-cylinder turbo.
It's by far the best looking SUV on the new car market, bar none. Made in Chicago, Illinois at 12600 S Torrence Ave. It is a highly reliable vehicle and made in the USA! I bought new a 2010 Ford Escape in Aug. 2009 and it's still running fast with the original 3L V6 Ecoboost turbo that has been very dependable. This video's model Explorer with the same colors is a top pick for a new purchase. Yes, Explorer is the top cop car in and around Chicago.
It looks much better. It’s been 5 years they should’ve just redesigned it. That would’ve helped usher in a hybrid model. Instead of cancelling it. I hope they’re working on a brand new Hybrid 3 row suv because that’s a big market to just pull out of.
I guess Ford figures if Land Rover & BMW can charge the big bucks for a painted roof they can too. It shouldn't be more than $500, honestly. The hood closure attempt in the video shows Quality is (still) Job #1 at FoMoCo.
Yep, especially when you compare it to the competitors. He said the front looks very truck-like, but I think it actually looks closer to a CX90. I'm not a huge fan of the rear as it looks like they're trying to copy Kia in some ways. The interior looks a lot nicer, but considering Ford has so many recalls, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets released with a couple o for that new infotanment system or not. Hopefully they've worked out all the mechanical issues they had with the recent batch of Ford recalls.
@@midnitestateI like the cx90 very much, but it's too cramped. Palisade or telluride are watered down here in saudi arabia. vw is unreliable and underpowered with a low quality interior. grand highlander unavailable here, and not even the gx nor the tx.
@@midnitestate The Explorer looks better than the CX90. Explorer had 2 recalls. One that was a quick fix in case your reverse camera turns blue, the other about a screw. Was done same day for me.
I agree, all the Explorers need a heads up display. Other manufacturers have it. Make the dashboard absorb the display so it doesn't look like just a tablet attached to the dashboard.
I have a 2013 ford explorer, bought it back in 2016 and it been paid off since 2021. I was going to get a lexus RX, but this new Explorer truly caught my eye! I'm a lil torn!

At 6’4 I truly don’t mind the 3rd row. If the 2nd row is in middle position it’s perfectly fine. Takes us to WinStar casino about 4 hours away no problems. If anything I find the seat bottom to become uncomfortable just needs better padding.

Regarding the law enforcement version since I saw on the description on your instagram post that there no longer offering the hybrid so what engines are the Police Interceptor Utility gonna use the 3.0L TT V6 or the 2.3L Turbo I4
SUV's of this price range need to have 12v cigarette ports accessible in each of the 3 rows, on top of the USB charging outlets. I can't believe some manufacturers don't have ANY on their cars and have opted for only USB-C, which is ridiculous. I also think modern vehicles should come with a standard 120v outlet of ideally at least 180w, if not 250 to 400W that are often available in some trucks. Once you get used to having one of these in your vehicle, you won't be able to understand how you ever lived without one!
*** Bench Seat NOT AVAILABLE on the ST or Platinum version with the "21 Inch Wheels"... We have the pre-refresh version with added Bench Seat option and love it. Sadly our family will have to pass this time ***
I think that the Ford's longitudinal engine placement won't allow it to manipulate the 2nd/3rd row like you can with a Grand Highlander/Telluride+Palisade, which are transverse mounted engines, which can be 'pushed' a bit more forward. Something to think about.
