@yejoonyang9552 In America, rear signals can be red or amber, which makes the usage of Red signals on international models that are sold in areas where the signals must be amber even more confusing. Somone along the line had to make the decision to give America red signals, even though it wouls probably be simpler and cheaper just to use amber.
Ford Explorer is one of the nicest cars in its category. It's a huge advantage to know all about recalls, necessary fixes and give it all the maintenance it deserves.
Toyota lost their sizzle, with too many engine issues. GM has too many transmission issues. I purchased the 2025 Explorer, because my 2016 Explorer has NO ISSUES in the 9 years and 112,000 miles we put on it. We did standard service and nothing else. I have had two 4Runners and both had problems. Toyota needs to look at the quality issues they are having. GM seems old fashioned and needs to step up their game. I had a 2000 Suburban, but it had so many issues I stopped buying GM products. At 4000 miles GM rebuilt the motor and transmission amid numerous electrical issues. Nice review.
You’re so nice explaining why the Ford Explorer model is dirty. BTW guys, you’re doing a great job giving us very complete and constructive reviews of every car you have in your hands. Appreciate it!
Dang what an improvement. The MY20-MY24 Explorers were just so half baked ESPECIALLY the platinum with the 10" display. Glad to see Ford actually decided to get work done on this
Good review. It's dissapointing that Ford dropped the Hybrid version, instead of improving the hybrid powertrain. As competitors are moving forward, Ford is actually taking a step back.
The aim is really emissions, not mpg, so if they can meet requirements without hybrid I suspect that’s what they are doing. I agree it’s lack of foresight and felt the same way when shopping for a 3-row. There are a few vehicles in this segment that don’t have the hybrid option. E.g Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder (dropped their hybrid), VW Atlas etc.
This is one case where I'm glad to see them taking a step backward. I have no plans to ever buy a hybrid. I was looking at the 24 Nautilus and really liked it, but in the end, I felt the base engine was too under powered and didn;t like the thought of a hybrid. I bought a 23 with the 2.7 V6 and glad I did.
Glad Ford updated that very cheap and gaudy looking vertical center screen and dash materials. This looks more thought of rather then just a quick tacked on design. My gripes remain however with the size and annoying welcoming chime. Non the less its nice to know Ford is listening to the structural criticisms. We'll see what a redesign eventually brings.
Im surprised more people arent gawking at the $5,000 for a black roof... if Nissan can give you one on the Pathfinder and Rogue for like $500, or several other manufacturers for that matter, I dont see what makes it so special on the Explorer.
This is IMO the nicest looking spec Ive seen of the 2025 explorers. I really hate the new large grille, but the platinum grille style with this grey exterior paint actually looks pretty decent. The Explorer ST grille just doesn't work for me in any color, just looks too weird -- unfortunate because the 2020-2024 Explorer ST was probably the best looking midsize 3 row. Have to go Platinum now...
If you noticed, the contour (shape) of the central console (where the wireless charger is located) is similar to any individual figure detailed of the frontal grill. This car looks amazing!
It seems like it took years for this refresh to come out. Imo though its nice I like that they got rid of the old ipad display which looked so out of place and gave it this normal look. However the infotainment area and gauge cluster area as a whole reminds me of the ford escape which give or take can be a good thing or bad thing. Now… as far as the outside is concerned I feel like the grill could be smaller. Its like the entire front end is just grill with a lot of plastic. I feel like the pre refreshed was just enough to where it didnt spoil the design.
What car grill or entire front end is not made mostly or entirely of plastic. Pretty sure the palisade I’m sure you love is a sea of plastic. So I call BS.
@@302Mustang13 While I agree, they aren't wrong. Just checked the Ford site and man, for $40k starting, you don't get a lot of features standard, esp with the tech, you gotta go in the $44k to get all the saftey tech at least. Other brands give you that as standard at least with their base models in the high 30k and 40k. Of course you do get a lot of HP which is nice, but man the pricing is really high to get the nice tech features over the base model, its pretty high
Yeah, who doesn't want a "family car" that can only carry 4 adults comfortably? The third row is, virtually, useless as it is in most three row crossovers. It also occupies too much space when folded. Mazda's new CX70 has TONS of cargo space and can carry 5 adults comfortably in the first two rows.
Pass. Im not a turbo guy. USB only on one side of third row, & can't make a dual phone charging pad in that space? Info screen looks like an afterthought and not integrated in the dash, only 6 seats. I do like the bigger grill. Happy with my 23 Traverse NA V6, more storage, more seats.
I got this same quality and size vehicle in the much more affordable Mazda CX-70. Can the Explorer tow more? Sure. Is the Mazda vastly superior in all other aspects? Absolutely.
Pretty decent refresh for the Explorer. Kind of disappointing that the rear turn signal lights are red now instead of amber on the pre-refresh model. Even the refreshed Escape and F150 have ditched the amber turn signals on all trim levels.
Nice job. However, you need to correct the square feet number behind the 3rd row. You did not include the space in the storage tray, which counts as part of the storage number.
Well Done Ford. But it's very different from the Chinese market one, especially in the interior. Personally, I will take the Grand Highlander over the Traverse over the Chinese's Explorer and then the American's Explorer.

Agreed, I saw the base model on their site, at $40k...and man does it suck, the engine HP is nice, but you don't get all the tech features you can easily get for less on any other brand of car.
I had a 21 Aviator and used to have a 16 Explorer Platinum. It would take about $15k more to get the Aviator similarly equipped. I had planned to buy one last fall but the one I wanted was in transit and taking too long to ship. I ended up buying a Nautilus Black Label and love it.

Oh you can easily tell the difference, one will work past 50k miles, costs less, and actually has most of all the high end features in the base model at well under $40k. If anything this Ford is a poor man's Subaru, which is pretty sad.

It's fascinating to me how Ford marketing misses HUD and digital rear view mirrors on these SUVs, especially given all their competitors offer them. But they offer massage seats. Unbelievable.
I am so happy Ford kept the v6 for the Explorer it makes that $66k worth it unlike the new Acadia Denali and Traverse which are better looking, Everyone else is moving on to 4cyl turbos. Only The CX-90, Explorer, Grand Cherokee L, Telluride, Palisade, Pilot, and Pathfinder are left with a 6cyl. But since Infiniti just announced the 2025 QX60 will opt-out of the v6 or a VC-turbo 4 I'm assuming the Pathfinder too. I would but it is pass Hyhundi and Kia to do the same. Toyota started this turbo 4cyl shit storm with the 2023 Highlander emissions/better fuel economy my ass. These manufacturers know a turbo 4cyl in an average-weight midsize to large SUV that is 4,400LBS and up won't last long. And to make it worse many claim 5,000LBS towing capabilities it's a joke to the point they keep removing cylinders but keep upping the prices. The only brands with 6cyl engine options in most of their lineup are BMW, Audi, and Porches even Benz ditched the 6cyl and 8cyl for the new C-Class and GLC this trend isn't just insane. There are many cars out there with old V6, V8, or Inline-6 that are running like new the turbo 4cyl is going to blow before 60,000K miles in this large heavy car.
Decades ago Ford made economical small cars like the Fiesta, Escort, Focus, and now they make expensive garbage that gets less than 20 mpg and cost what a house use to. This is ludicrous. They also tried the electric pipe dream that has been a disaster.
Yeah this is a bad car overall, starting @ $40k for the base model alone, you get hardly anything something like Honda, Toyota, and Subaru give you, this isn't including taxes and destination fees and whatever markups dealers will do. Then it is a Ford...which of course means bizarre issues and transmission and electronic issues (I know a few who have had weird computer issues messing up transmission shifts). This is worse than the Chevy Traverse and that thing gives you more stuff as standard, but includes a nice swinging exhaust pipe under it lol
@@vjmtz Bad luck may come in threes, but quality control issues can account for a lot more headaches, as exemplified by Toyota's recent spate of recalls. Following the announcement that over 100,000 Tundra and LX engines may need replacing, it now seems Toyota could potentially be on the hook for a batch of faulty automatic and manual transmissions in 2024 model year Tacoma pickups. Specifically, dozens of complaints about premature transmission failure have been filed on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. Reading through the descriptions of the alleged transmission failures, it doesn't sound like these transmissions are simply worn out - particularly when some of the reported failures have happened with less than 1,000 miles on the odometer. "I was leaving a parking lot and pulled out on the road and the vehicle shifted into neutral after a minute or so the vehicle then slammed back into gear. It did this 2 or 3 times," a complaint from May 10 reads. Additional official complaints have corroborated this initial complaint, with dozens of 2024 Toyota Tacoma owners in particular reporting a sudden shift into neutral, stalling, or being stuck in high gears with little ability to move. Forum posts, official NHTSA complaints, and a recent report from The Drive also indicate that wait times for a new transmission can be as long as four months, leaving some afflicted new Tacoma owners without their trucks for an extended period of time.
@@FunAtDisneyUnacceptable but your Pilot only has 280 horsepower. 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque in the Explorer Platinum here erases those criticisms.
@@302Mustang13 Not true!! Did you watch the video to the end? - He had the Platinum model, not the ST. The $57.875 was the price as shown that had the added “Ultimate (not!) Package + destination (ok, I should not count that, so let’s say $56K as shown). Admittedly Honda Pilots still do not have 2nd row cooled seats either, but for that price a Hyundai Palisade does as well on one trim lower, + 3rd row heated seats. Also other makes do as well. And the Explorer has always had the worst 3rd row as he showed. In this mid-level SUV class when comparing these high trim levels at $50K ++ those features count, especially for a family. Somehow over the years the Explorer manages on the outside to be a large as other makes, but the inside has always been cramped.
@@FunAtDisney Again, this Platinum has 400 horsepower and lots of torque. This particular model has the optional V6 twin turbo. It makes the same output as the version in the ST. The 3.0 V6 TT is not specific to the ST, it's in the Platinum trim too. The Palisade only has 291 horsepower. A real enthusiast would care more about that and not worry about second row cooled seats or anything else that doesn't relate to performance. Third row is notable but keep in mind that was meant for children in this class. Nobody really needs heated seats in the third row. Just something to fix after your kid leaves it running on long drives and burns it out.

Those panel gaps 😂
Probably a preproduction.
@WarrenG302V8 You would think they'd ensure that their pre-production press car is in better shape than the ones on their lots.
@@kjcl90 You would think but press vehicles hardly get anything.
Pre production usually end up in the crusher afterward.
25 platinum model and no digital review mirror?!?! Pass
Decades ago Ford made economical small cars like the Fiesta, Escort, Focus, and now they make expensive garbage that gets less than 20 mpg and cost what a house use to. This is ludicrous. They also tried the electric pipe dream that has been a disaster.
Buying a more expensive trim level doesn't guarantee you a more reliable vehicle.
Me gusta, lástima que se volvió suv de 6 personas... en la 3a fila con el "corte" de 2 asientos, una 3a persona va incómoda.
This was the best video amongst the new 2025 Ford.
Break the embargo and release the test drive early! 😂
Thanks! While tempting, we're gonna stick to the rules 😂
Are these real Americans commenting? Hmmm. Other Channels love this design. What is up with your fanbase
The grills on the new explorers are hideous ! Not aggressive at all. What was so wrong with the previous model ?
Not a fan of this design! Ford dropped the ball!! They should of built off the 2017 design!! That was a handsome suv
The interior reminds me of the cheap base model Chevy Cruze vibe.. 😂
UMMM, isn't the new Tacoma having transmission issues?
@@66skate As far as I know, no. I know the new re-design 6 cylinder engine I think in their other cars is having issues though.
The Ford Etzel was reborn. Their designer made a major flaw, ugly as can be.
Definitely beats those two.
That cubby hole beneath the infotainment screen looks horrible.
Is Lexus designing everything now? Enough with the gawdy grills
This Ford Explorer is freaking awesome and when your doing something right hateful comments will appear!
It’s much improved but that 3rd row is cramped compared to my Pilot. And for $57k as shown not having 2nd row ventilated seats is unacceptable.
@@302Mustang13 A real “enthusiast” would probably not get a 3-row family purpose SUV! And if they did, it would be an Acura or BMW or Mercedes. What “enthusiast” would get a Ford Explorer??
Waiting for the ST review
