They have been this price with the original ones. You must of not bought cans in awhile. That's the going price for upper tier headphones for the last 10 years.
I’m curious about a warmer profile (and warmth is code for less accurate and more distortion). I’m pretty firmly in the ultra-clean, ultra-flat, ultra-detailed camp, even when it shows the warts on bad mixes and masters. However, I’d be curious to see what I am missing by coloring the sound with some warmth.

Agreed.. meze and ZMF make many of my most favorite headphones. Not the most technical and detailed but they are highly enjoyable.
