Gun dragh gun d' chuir e an t-eagal oirnn
    Solas Cnoc na Fèille
Hogainn o ro ho ro illean ho ro eile.
Bha feadhainn ann a chunnaic e
'S càch ag innse nam breugan
Hogainn o ro ho ro illean ho ro eile.
    Ach muinntir an dà-shealladh
    Chitheadh iadsan co-dhiù e
Hogainn o ro ho ro illean ho ro eile.
Hogainn o, hogainn o, ho ro ho ro illean
Hogainn o, ho ro illean, hogainn o horainn o
Tha lach is gèadh is curracag
    Nan caraidean air a' mhachaire
Hogainn o ro ho ro illean ho ro eile.
Tha feannag air a crochadh suas
    Ceangailte le ròpa
Hogainn o ro ho ro illean ho ro eile.
    Tha coineanach sa ghainmheach
    Na sheasamh, abair urchaire
Hogainn o ro ho ro illean ho ro eile.
Hogainn o, hogainn o, ho ro ho ro illean
Hogainn o, ho ro illean, hogainn o horainn o.

I am going to offend lots of people with this, I know, but this is why Donnie was wrong for the band. Yes, great voice, but look at him! Doesnt fit does he? Bruce does. Donny used to make me squiem me with his fancy suits and posing. Bruce can carry a band and you feel he is " 0ne of "Us" I remember going to see Runrig for the first time during "The Big Wheel " tour with my partner, he said "That bloke is an utter prat, dont ask me to do it again! The Band is good, shame about the pillock!" So from then on I went on my own. All over England and Scotland. Then Bruce arrived and my partner got it! We went all over together after that! So sorry, I think Donnie actually stopped them becoming mega. I read a review of the "Loch Lomond vid that said "The lead singer struts like Jim Kerr with ricketts!|" OMG Jim Kerr? I would have hung up my tambourine then and there if I was being relegated to a bad Jim Kerr! I am sure Donnie is a lovely guy and I have heard his solo stuff, but he just has this on stage persona that rubs people up the wrong way, or did, The Mara tour was bloody awful, not only was it Runrigs worst álbum, but him posturing about like Leonardo Caprio on a mocked up ship was a Spinal Tap moment! Sorry, folks I had to say it!

DasArab I told you I would offend people. Sunbeam. I have travelled hundreds of miles to see Runrig with or without Donnie. For me Bruce is best, sorry! You are entitled to your opinion; I am entitled to mine, hopefully I express mine a little more eloquently, if not so succinctly.

+Aubbie Melancholy You are totally entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. As an English person I see Runrig differently to Scottish people, I know that and I understand what you see in Donnie, but it held them back. They were a teuchter band with little appeal south of the border, most English people have never heard of them even now, I may be idealistic, but to me, if you are in a band and you want that band to project a message it is necessary to get that message to as many people as possible. When you have a singer that only appeals to a small segment of nationalists (and I mean that in a good way, not a racist way) it isnt going to happen. Bruce has a far broader appeal. Ask yourself how well is Donnie doing on his own in terms of international success? Yes he ploughs the same well worn furrow around Germany and Scandinavia that the band has always done, but they and he never broke England let alone the States, Perhaps that was never their intention, but if it wasnt that seems pretty odd; kind of like preaching to the converted.

+Aubbie Melancholy With all due respect you no doubt see them far differently to a true Hebridean Gael too. I suggest you look at a few of the earlier vídeos and read "Going Home" to see what they appear to have thought they were doing. It seems to have been taking the Gaeldacht to a wider audience? You dont have to "sell out" to do that. but if you want to stay "true to your roots" you may as well stay in the Skye Gathering Hall. The whole point for any arist is to get your message across. That is hardly selling out. To the English or anyone else. I have to admit, I find it very amusing when people who are 2nd or 3rd generation exiles are more "Patriotic" than people born to the nation. I have a very good Scottish frIend who loathes Runrig! Quite af Few Scots do. They see them as perpetuating the "Tartan and Shortbread " image of their homeland that these 2nd and 3rd generation foreigners so love. Which other Scots make a very good living peddling. It makes you wonder who exactly is "selling out" and to whom.
