It isn't our elections responsible for the division. Political correctness is responsible for the because PC dictates you cannot discuss religion or politics and when those subjects are off the table, THAT'S what causes the divisiveness.
Blue regions of the US (cities) have the greatest wealth disparities with large numbers of both very rich and very poor people. The subsets of these populations that overwhelmingly vote Democrat tend to be of two types: 1) the privileged that can afford to vote for feel-good Democratic social welfare policies with minimal personal impact or consequence and 2) less privileged people that directly benefit either financially or socially from Democratic policies. Red voters in these regions tend to be struggling middle class that disproportionally suffer from Democratic policies - too poor to distance themselves from negative fallout of Democratic policy but too rich to benefit from them.
I am not sure about the nuance question, in some ways it makes sense, but in this past election there were some very stark differences between the two candidates making nuance pretty pointless. voting red does not mean Republican voter. The kids should know that. It means that the voting was in favor of a Republican candidate, whether the voter was a Democrat, Republican, or some other party.
Ok so about the county thing. Those from the former British empire are used to counties being larger regions. In Jamaica, each county takes up roughly a third of the island.

There is no collective America without the utter necessity of essential leadership.
another great video all around. I was honestly hoping to see some actual Harris/Trump dialog within the classroom. As many of your classes tend to show that students and most likely majority of American's have thoughts and decisions heavily weighed by media influence. Bringing up candidate vs candidate policy agenda I thought would be a great dialog and to then show how radically some of the media coverage screws the facts to either side.
I love this class and how it opens the dialogue into different perspectives. The one big thing missing is Life experience in this country. I've had several point of views from my late teens until now in my 60's. Peoples wants, needs and values change with time. The most important constant should be balance. Once the pendulum shifts too much in either direction it causes unrest. Try this exercise in you current life " Take what you know and what you are familiar with and totally do the polar opposite" It is very uncomfortable and a bit scary. In my opinion small changes works best for most people. I also agree with Adam Garcia that Laurie should not be involved with this class. Not even sure why she is involved.

Bringing up candidate vs candidate policy agenda I thought would be a great dialog and to then show how radically some of the media coverage screws the facts to either side.
Hispanic in US does not necessarily mean immigrant. Starr county Texas 97% Hispanic voted 75% for Trump.
Couldn't watch. Would have liked to hear him get a thought out without being interrupted for something totally unrelated.
She most always voices her opinions and frames questions in order to push her narratives. You can see how Sam squirms and interrupts her to put the class back on track. Not even sure why she is involved.
I really feel this was a great topic for your class, however I feel that the opinion of the students did not really shine through. Could you possibly redo this class, Also a question I would like to have asked or possibly know the answer to is how do political donations align with the Maps.
It appears more dense in the more recent maps. Perhaps more voters? Certainly larger cities vote more liberal, esp the Calif coast, NYC, etc
Typically, there are more people wanting to move from the city to the country than the opposite. The values between these two areas are vastly different.
She's pushing her own agenda.
Her voice is so sharp and intrusive. Dam is soft and soothing which coerce you yo think
Yea laury has to understand that she is in his class and he is the proffessor and she is a guest speaker and if sam was to do that in her class you better believe she would not tolerate it and make a big issue out of it. Laury, sam didnt ask you in his class to teach it, he requested you to assist him as a guest speaker not a head or lead speaker and thus far i have only seen disrespect for sam in every way
People in cities have more exposure to different ideas and people. It is not really education.
You are looking only at the top of the ticket. Remember the people are voting down ballot for senators congressmen, judges, school boards. All of them running by party.
It is not the Democratic party it is Democrat party. Seems trivial, but it is a big difference in terms
Sam. I love your classes, but I’m ten minutes in and this lady can’t stop talking and is very abrasive. Horriable. I wanted to keep listening and hear what you were saying but couldn’t handle her (and I’m a female)
The voting trends in correlation to the map, I believe are largely influenced by financial opportunity.
I said typically but i meant primarily stay the same in consistancy
