I'm hoping that Death Note the Musical gets a full West End Run after the Concert, then if that goes well I'm hoping so badly that not only it goes on both a UK and US Tour but also give it finally a Broadway Run. I've been waiting since the English Demo came out for it.

We've come a long way since the 2014 concept recordings with Jeremy Jordan & Adrienne Warren. I really hope we get a new English cast recording with this concert happening because it's such a great score & the more we can get of it the better.

10 Months later IT'S COMING....eventually they are really dragging it out bad. Unfortually not a full recording but eh it's at least recording by a cast that actually performed the roles on stage

Really surprised to not see TikTok sensation Where is the Justice, but so glad that two amazing songs from the musical were featured. This is a criminally underrated musical and deserves recognition!

I’m shocked they didn’t use one of L’s songs, as he’s the fan favorite character, or They’re Only Human, the only other DN Musical song to really take off.

I have seen the show and it was an absolute masterpiece. They have to make this a full West End show after the concert in September. It was really amazing to see.

@@iRAWkTheWorldyes it’s an original musical with music by Frank Wildhorn (who also wrote songs for Bonnie and Clyde and Jekyll and Hyde, among others)
Hopefully the complete stage musical will make it's way to Broadway so Americans can see an adaptation much more worthy of Death Note than the shite that Netflix did (and is still trying to do)
So exciting to hear different interpretations of these songs. cannot wait for the cast recording (hopefully)
This is epic! I was obsessed with the musical a few months ago and watched the subtitled Japanese version on RUclips a ton, but I’m also really excited to see what the full show will be like in English. It seems like they’re not changing the lyrics from the English cast album, which I don’t mind as that’s what I’ve listened to the most, but a lot of the other translations’ lyrics have a lot more nuance and detail, so it might’ve been nice if they rewrote some of the original lyrics. Still, I am super pumped for this musical, and these two actors did great!
I think they did rewrite one lyric in I'm Ready. The original lyric was "Because the world doesn't know what I feel about you" and I think they changed it to "Baby when we're together you know that we're right". I usually think I'm hallucinating when it comes to small details like these but my ears are not failing me today. Other than that I don't think anything else has changed.
Imma need that cast recording, like ASAP, because I’m ready

Saw the musical today, absolutely wonderful.
I've been so so so excited about this since it was announced and seeing this just makes me so much more jealous that I can't watch the main show in August 😭😭😭 They absolutely delivered with these performances omg Hurricane is my favorite song from the musical and Joaquin's high note at the end sent actual shivers up my spine aaaaa so so good!!! ✨✨✨
If you like this number, I recommend you to listen to the Korean version of Death Note. The voices of really good actors are full.❤

The two evening performances sold out quickly but they added a Tueaday matinee and plenty of seats are left.

I randomly ran into this on TikTok and I am shocked and slightly amazed that it never occured that it could and does support a musical.
i used to really want to originate the role of rem in the uk. life has gotten in the way, but i'm still excited for this musical
i have my own personal issues, but that's just due to thinking that the english lyrics need an overhaul (seriously, compare any of rem's english songs to any other translation. the lyrics go from fairly bland to very specific to the situation and also very gay)

I love this musical and the songs. But the lyrics are way much better in the Korean and Japanese version. Also, this guy is not bad, but he's not Hong Kwang-ho.

I saw it today. It was full musical. I'm guessing maybe they had issues with license or they wanted more than one set. It was still a brilliant production

Can we get an actual english Broadway performance!!!! I would be there so fast. It would be like the 90's kid nerd version of the swiftys going crazy trying to get tickets to the eras tour trying to get tickets for this XD.
In a recent interview while promoting Your Lie In April Frank Wildhorn basically said they are doing London again then shooting for New York. It's a super busy season on Broadway so waiting until later next year after another London run is smart. We should have the new concept recording soon since they are teasing it again as of about 3 weeks ago.
I wish they gave them better equipment for these promotional things, she sounds garbled every time she sang the word “ready” in the chorus.

I think I still like the NY demo versions slightly better but they both absolutely killed the performance
To be fair the demo versions are proper recordings, that have gone through mixing and such, while this is live.

@lisas8614 once again, the demo's have been properly recorded in a booth, and then professionally edited and mixed, while this is a live performance. At least wait until there's a proper cast recording released to say they're so much worse

Love the musical, not sure how I feel about these performers. They seem like karaoke folk and don't look the part.
Honestly, I'm kinda disappointed they kept the original Hurricane lyrics. Compared to the rewrite of the Japanese and Korean versions, it just seems kinda lackluster, and doesn't truly capture Light's desire to create a utopia with himself as its ruler.
I agree. Personally I think Hurricane and I'm Ready could really benefit from a rewrite. The Korean and Russian scripts have both been tweaked for their second run, and the English would benefit from it as well, I think.
On the other hand, it's super exciting we're finally getting an English production!
To be honest, we can't have the apple and eat it. Maybe if we had a proper run of the show in the WE, yeah sure. But for a first time show of two days- I'm happy with the lyrics we're going to get 😂
