I use Neats foot oil on my Redwing iron rangers, and it darkens at first but soon lightens! Then seal it with mink oil, or polish on one pair. And the polished ones look very smart. And it seals the oils in for ages! With mink oil, it just looks slightly polished, but natural! I even sanded some scratches out of my very old ones then oiled them, and they look new! Great boots!
I love my Iron Rangers, I have 4 pair, 4 colors, but the copper is my favorite. I notice it looks better somewhat dry, they've also darkened almost close to the amber harness. How can i keep that great copper color?
Just bought some coppers today. I’m here looking for info on how to keep that color. You have any advice? This is an old comment and I’m hoping you’ve learned the tricks by now.
You don't need to let them dry. Just wipe off the cleaner and apply conditioner before they dry. You can use any leather soap or saddle soap if it's smooth leather. There are other cleaners for suede, nubuck, or roughout.
My boots turned black in 1 month..I tried everything, ..you should tell buyers especially first time buyers they need to use a silicon spray to stop the leather from turning black.
@@InGrindWeCrust2010 it was the copper rough and tough..a veg tan I think..Since my last comment I realized what happens ..I started wearing selvedge denim and I think the dye from the raw denim turned the leather dark, it happens to my belts and wallet too..there doesn't seem to be any way to get the color out..not even acetone.
Naw.. I've got great patina over 7 years and I condition them once or twice a year. Especially in dry climates keeping the leather hydrated keeps away dry out cracking.
@@zfeedrvAgreed. I average twice a year also and brush the rest of the time. Just a light clean and light Saphir and they stay hydrated and patina just fine.

Great instructions for Heritage footwear!
Excellent video bought three pair of boots from your store.
What about Red Wing boot paste as a conditioner?
So that was for the Amber Harness leather. What’s the process for the Copper Rough and Tough?
Where did you get those flags for the laces? I’d love them for my Iron Rangers
When I went into a Red Wing store about a year ago they had a bucket on the counter and the guys said just to take a couple if you want.

I just bought a pair of 9016 classic boots what product would recommend to treat the leather?
Great job. The owner of the boots doesn’t seem to be using boot trees, which would keep them even in better shape imo.
Hi, but when you clean up with foam , how long they should be left to dry for the other treatment ?

Silicon ruins the leather fast need to condition it and spray it with leather protector
@@Kratos-bf2jg well they don't tell you that when u buy. Now I can't get any of the leather back to it's original colour. No-one ever though of this ?
What are you working with that makes the boot black in the first place?
Not being rude just curious.
@@NYCBigBullIs it smooth leather like the boots in this video or a suede or roughout leather?

Super lovly
I love American s
Those look way over-conditioned. I'd put those in the AZ sun and dry air for about 2 weeks 24/7 before they get moldy.
Also the amber harness on those boots looks way to dark… way over condition. Not a fan.
It's like they were slathering a turkey in butter and brine. 😅
This seems more like a treatment you would use for outdoor work boots.
If you want a great patina don’t condition your boots.

Absolutely condition your boots, just don't over condition them.
If you don't condition then they will be a dry cracked mess
Nice video. Seems like a nice guy.
