I watched the doc. It may seem like they focused a lot on him from this clip but they didn’t. They actually did a decent job focusing on her style influence, her education, going to prom, doing movies, modeling and more. Aaliyah was more than than situation with Kelly and I wish people would focus on that too. Remember her how she wanted to be remembered.

Rather you people want to accept it or not without R. Kelly there would be no Aaliyah (R.I.P). Her uncle Barry Hankerson tried to get her a deal and no one in the industry would give her a chance. R. Kelly spotted her talent and gave her a chance. He wrote and produced her entire first album. As much you people want to rewrite history you can’t diminish his contributions to the early parts of her career.

@@willsalter8113 man hush. 😂She would have def still been in the business without R. Kelly. Those labels didn’t sign her because she was only 12 at the time. Which is understandable. Who’s about to bet money on a 12 year old. Which is why even after she met rkelly they didn’t drop her album until she was 15. It’s easier to market a 15yo than a 12yo.

Kelly and she was multi-talented, singing since she was a kid in that one show. Again, nothing new. So many other stars passed away that we rarely hear about. Lisa Left Eye passed around the same time, yet i think theres only one doc on her and it was the one she made herself before she died. There's always a doc on TLC but i wanna know more about Lisa from the beginning.

I love Aaliyah Haughton's debut LP. It's actually the only one that I have a connection to from her catalog. It was an R. Kelly produced project and I was obsessed w/ his sound when I was little. I know it like the back of my hand. _Young Nation_ is actually my favorite Aaliyah record. I only know a few cuts from her second and third LPs. Nah, am I a huge Aaliyah fan? I'm a huge fan of her debut LP. Nah see, in this video, they showed a clip of MTV's Kurt Loder reporting on the alleged "marriage." Sh¡t, it was even on the cover of Vibe magazine. WHY DIDN'T THEY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT IN 1994?! Oh, I just wanna scream because it frustrates the hell outta me. Why did the media wait 25 to 30 years later? I'm very disappointed at how things were (or weren't) handled. In 2023, folks are still making excuses about it. "We were intoxicated by black music finally getting the credit that it deserved." Danyel Smith, really? That's yo' excuse? WOW! So basically, never mind a young black girl's abuse. Black music's exposure means more. (shakes head in disappointment) The only reason why R. Kelly is in trouble (30 years later) is because the industry has no more use for him. That's what they do. They use you, milk you dry and move right on to the next one. Make no mistake about it. The industry ain't fighting for no victims or nothing like that. They needed an excuse to phase R. Kelly out. The same thing happened to Marilyn Manson two years ago. His impactful days are long gone. He's old and washed up. Let's destroy his legacy. And the list goes on and on and on.

It's difficult to watch old aaliyah stuff because it pisses me off and reminds me who she was, what she did and what she could/would have done if she was still alive.
Especially after i saw her in queen of the damned i realised she would become a universal artist. She was special.
So sad that she is gone.

It is so sad that people say a parent or someone hasn't gotten over the death of their child. Who ever stops grieving the loss of a child? unless they had something to do with it. I mean grief from the loss of a child is a everyday thing. I lost my daughter to violence, and what is up with the sunglasses? You know what that means, you are in the inside, no sun is inside DD. Smh! Again your Legacy will always be here. Rip Aaliyah I miss you so much!

WHERE WAS HER PARENTS , HER MOTHER CLAIMED THAT SHE WAS ALWAYS THERE BUT CLEARLY NOT CUZ SHE GOT MARRIED TO HIM AND MORE BUT HER STORY ISNT NO DIFFERENT FROM JZ AND BEYONCE BECAUSE JZ GROOMED BEYONCE AND FOXY BROWN AT A VERY YOUNG AGE AND HE WAS RKELLY AGE SO IF ANYTHING BRING ALL OG THEM TO THE FRONT, DAME DASH ISNT NO BETTER.

Aaliyah's legacy must continue to grow with her music, image and her message of making your dreams into a reality and still be a sweet person. Such a beautiful, talented lady who is so missed.

It could've been frustration from the culture in the belief that ppl that live the way they have to live b/c of the fame & fortune is predatory for protection
