The Alliance Gator people specify compaction of the bedding sand (by hand tamping) but in professional installer videos they don't compact the sand. Can anyone explain?

Will grass grow over the 4" Gator Base at the paver edge?
I would imagine so, grass will grow in very little soil. I have a bunch growing in 4 in. of ashphalt millings out back right now
Can you use more than 3/4 of sand?
