My recipe for Pomp Nostalgia: take a song I grew up with, write a super messed up bass line and then ask a much better bassist to play it (thank you, Nick).
Ok so I need to explain WHY I said, "Don't hate yourself." When we're recording we do about 3-4 takes of a song. And we record to click, so that if we need to grab something from another take we can. During the take where I said, "Don't hate yourself," Jack was supposed to double my "ooooo" part just before, but forgot, and made a face like, "DAMMIT I MISSED MY PART." So my response to his frustration was "don't hate yourself." Anyhoo, we grabbed his synth double from another take. It was musically the right call...but now you know what REALLY happened.
I've always wanted to know how you guys do it. Would love a full breakdown of your mixing & mastering process too, all these live recordings sound immaculate and you've got it down to such a fast science. Obviously being such talented musicians helps too!
@@schtuff.8207 It´s not a deep dive on the mixing and mastering but you might enjoy to look at a video on "JackConteExtras" channel on how they record a bunch of songs in one day ;)
Was listening to this on my laptop , my daughter walked into the kitchen and said " l had no idea Babish played keyboard" ... We all have a twin, great music thank you.
Nataly - Your voice is as amazing as ever and you pay homage to Dido while making the song yours with your distinctive style, ethereal presence, and upbeat spin. Jack - You have *THE BEST* stank face in the business. Stay funky brother. Thank you for bringing this all together, and for creating the bedrock of a new economy. Ben - Ever since the cover of Je M' Fait Tout Petit I've been wondering if you're of French extraction and in the opening of this song you have the most French smile I've seen. Thanks for laying down consistent grooves. Nick - You are the Imp of Bass, a lesser deity with a playful grin and surgically grafted tightness to the groove you set up with Ben. You two have more fun together than any other two musicians bar Nataly and Jack. Sarah - If you're not a gamer this compliment may hit weird, but you match Nataly as well as the chorus matches Sylvanas in the Lament Of The Highborne.
I’m here because Frank Darabont, director of THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, said in a recent Post Mortem podcast, that this band is amazing. And he’s right.
I just heard them one time and it was a mashup of stayin alive with other songs and that was freaking genius. Their mashups are amazing, try them it'll grow on you.
I mean... yeah, hearing you guys make wonderful music is always a pleasure, but watching you have so much fun is an added treat And that bass line... chills. ❤
Toujours agréable Pomplamoose , super musiciens , extrême qualité d'enregistrement et bien sûr , le charmant minois de mon Américaine préférée . Bonjour de France
You know how some songs will immediately transport you to another time and place in your life? Dido will ALWAYS take me to that time just after I graduated from university, living and surviving in Phoenix, just after having my heart shattered to smithereens for the first time.
You guys are amazing! And I was thinking: "ah, those smiles! so sincere! especially the ones from the bass player". All transpire that are very attuned! It's delightful to watch. Congrats!
ABSAUlTY LOVE that rythem and sound. Had this freshness like putting on a new fresh pair of socks wright out of the package are purchasing a new pair of athletic shoes that are so comfortable that is feel like you're floating when you walk. Amazing guys keep it up ❤️❤️❤️
I dunno know. How does one do, "My family's relationships have died for generations but just not enough to make me not be here, can u feel that?" song (so, ironically "Thank-you" too) when one's so magnificently about an accelerating-to-infinity relationship to which I most assuredly aspire? Am so unendingly relieved I don't believe any of this.
WHAT. A. COVER! Y’all incorporated so many different aspects of your sound, some of which I’ve never heard in the same song, and really pulled it off so well. SO. GOOD.
I just love the feel good take going into recording. It always looks like so much fun to play with all of those awesome people. As always, you nailed it!
Thank you! for covering this song I cant tell you how much of a fan I am of Dido and you did wonderfully! For a moment I thought it was actually Dido singing at one point
It's so nice to see you smile at each other while making these songs. I don't know, it might be manufactured, but I like to believe you're just a bunch of nerds who love making music together.

Such a Pomplamoosey bass line! I love it.
That was fun ☺️ merci à vous tous !
It's very Pomplamooae! I enjoyed that. I think I'll enjoy it a few more times.
Jack said it truly, "That was sick!"
Amazing 🤩

Neat to hear how the butter is churned. Thanks for sharing! And I love the use of the TV set for the backup vocals. Clever!

That's good advice for anyone at all times and while you're at it, add everyone in the mix...Love everyone. We get there with forgiveness.
These folks are great because they infuse so much JOY into their music. It's infectious.
Agree!!!
I love these collaborations. Such a mix of brilliance, joy for the musical moment, and your work. Thank y’all for spreading good things.
💯
This is not a joyful song and the joy and fast tempo kinda ruin it tbh.
Was going to make the same comment, thanks for saving me the trouble!
I would love to see a Pomplamoose cover of Bjork - Oh So Quiet, and also Alanis Morisette Ironic
Dude, genius. Nataly could totally put a quirky spin on Oh So Quiet.
@@thetalantonx It could be a collaboration to get the contrast between quiet and loud ?
Great bass lines, awesome Sarah Dugas backing vocals, beautiful leading vocals.
Sarah Dugas is such a wonderful woman ❤️.
I'm so used to hearing this in Stan, I don't think I've ever listened to just this song, great job!
same lol

Her voice and the enthusiasm of everyone is so addictive.. I watch this song 10 times a day with a big smile on my face.
Was listening to this on my laptop , my daughter walked into the kitchen and said " l had no idea Babish played keyboard" ... We all have a twin, great music thank you.

" Sylvanas in the Lament Of The Highborne" bruh :O
I love watching you guys perform! Just makes me smile...
This song has one of the most captivatingly strange cadences. I love it.
I love you zagged where all would zig. Love this move to the faster pace. And LOVE LOVE LOVE those chord shifts out of predictably-major.
I’m here because Frank Darabont, director of THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, said in a recent Post Mortem podcast, that this band is amazing. And he’s right.

Same reasons 🙋🏼
I love everything you do...its wonderful. Nataly could sing ANYTHING and make it beautiful
I mean... yeah, hearing you guys make wonderful music is always a pleasure, but watching you have so much fun is an added treat

I am loving this. And I want to thank you.
I was just re-visiting and loving (again) this album a couple of weeks ago! "I just want to thank you" for this fantastic cover.🥰
The sheer enjoyment you all take in making these songs just adds to the joy I feel listening to them and watching.
You guys are amazing! And I was thinking: "ah, those smiles! so sincere! especially the ones from the bass player". All transpire that are very attuned! It's delightful to watch. Congrats!
Ooh, she's in the beautiful dress of many colors! Makes her even more stunning. And the music's good too.
I love the vocals on this. Nataly really nails it, she seems to do it effortlessly.
AWSOME!!! ❤️❤️❤️... Remember good souvenir.
Love it ! Kiss from Tahiti.🇵🇫🇵🇫🇵🇫
Just love the vibe especially Jack and Nataly, thank you for making cover of this song ♥️
I love watching musicians who truly enjoy making music.
I like the idea of having the backup singer in the TV. Cute!
Always a joy and a delight to see and hear Sarah Dugas

I love this song and I love when you sing this song!
Love it! ♥️
I've been listening Stan from Eminem and Dido the last few days and now you came up with this.
You are amazing.
I'm surprised that I listen to you for 5 years and still my favorite song is "bust your kneecaps"
Pomplamusica its Magnifica!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love this! One of my favorites😍❤️
Can't believe I missed this one. So good. Love the twist - esp that minor you don't expect in the chorus. Woof!
multiple hanging light globes. not actually putting lights in them. love it !
Yes! Nice bass part! Also, it's kneecap-shaking and kind of acoustic/woody at the same time. Nataly/vocals are smooth as a cool breeze in July.
Thank you! for covering this song I cant tell you how much of a fan I am of Dido and you did wonderfully! For a moment I thought it was actually Dido singing at one point
Beautiful family of musicians 🌹😉😘✌🏻
Bloody awesome! C'est magnifique!
