I can’t thank you enough for this... Literally saved $1000s doing this and OFHG myself. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without such a comprehensive video like this one.
@@NewDesignVinylGraphics I wonder how buddy when the gaskets are 40$ and the oil + filter is another 130$ so your telling me he does the gasket for 130$ lmfaoo your chopped (cad dollars also…)
Thanks again for this video. I just finished the job and can’t thank you enough. It took me roughly 4 hours to do the job with some help. Well worth a diy as this would cost $600-1200 at the dealership. My engine had so much oil residue on my block. It seems that it should have been replaced 30k kms ago
you do not need to cut the hose in order to put on new flange. Use a pipe plier and a little pressure will crack the plastic one into big pieces. Note, tilt the pipe downward, so pieces fall into the hose.
Thank you for the short but very informative video. My car has been sitting in my driveway for two days now as I was able to change out the gaskets. But my plastic flange also broke like yours when I took it off to make it easier to unscrew that bottom bolt. Lol.
I enjoyed the video and you have an excellent, calming voice and explained the steps very well, but why didn't you replace the intake manifold gasket? Once it is disturbed it will surely leak to some extent.
Yeah I’ve heard that but honestly I don’t see how it would affect anything when you really look at how the gaskets are seated. Plus it’s been a year and the car has been running great with no issues relating to that.
It seems there's a small chance of engine failure after doing this replacement without priming but I never did priming and never had any issues since doing this. And from what I've seen many other haven't either after doing this. Only a small percentage of N55s have had issues from what I can tell.
Curious If that Rein radiator hose failed? I installed mine in Oct2022 and by Nov2023 it is leaking at the seam. Not sure it is user error during install as its straight forward.
@@InlineSixAuto terrible craftsmanship and or quality especially with a product with a backing like Rein. Waiting for my OEM to come in. Thanks for confirming.
I wanted to replace it cause there was oil over it where it connects to the oil filter housing but I couldn’t get it off and I ended up breaking it while I was struggling to get it off. But yes you could just leave it on if you want.
If you don't get it changed immediately could it cause damage to any other parts of the car? I need about a week before I can fix it am I okay to continue driving it?
@@InlineSixAuto its leaking quite a bit I'm actually adding some oil today because of how much I've lost over the last 5 days. Is there anything I can keep an eye out for?
I was aware that some people experienced this after doing this job. But from I read and saw, it was really only a handful of people that actually had this happened. Majority of people did not have anything happen, me included. I’ve driven about 1500 miles since I did this and not priming anything. Have had no issues.
@@InlineSixAuto So why it happens ? Iive in Germany and nobody gets this failure after doing this job. I try to find any correlation between guys who get this failure...
@@sechszylinder8055 Hi there, just want to inform you: Here in switzerland they told me at BMW Dealership that they also had a handful people which had an engine failure after replacing. He also mentioned this only happened to older generation (I guess the E model) - he told me for my F32 it should be fine.
I had some engine problems right after doing an oil housing gasket change. I pulled fuse 165 and let it die out so I knew there wasn't any fuel. very good job
Do we drain the oil?
After doing the alternator bracket gasket and oil cooler o-rings on my N62, this looks like a cakewalk lol
Weren’t you supposed to change the intake manifold gaskets after removing the intake manifold?
You can but not required. havent had any issues since which this was almost 2 years ago
Appreciate the video for sure! Thanks
Suggest you record the audio at a higher level. It was hard to hear with my phone cranked.
Can it cause damage to the engine if you directly start the car after the OFHG replacement without priming it first? Thanks!

Theres higher chances in e chassis so fill housing with oil and unplug lpfp fuse and crank it. Better safe then sorry
Going to dedicate a whole day for this sigh
That's a good idea lol

I think its very similar but not exactly the same

Should easily come off if all the bolts are off. Unless it was glued on or something.

Well I didn't intentionally drain any coolant. But when I had to replace the hose flange, quite of bit of coolant came out so I had to refill
