I LOVE TLBT @michaelgorman4229 !! I just went to Mary's Cafe again in Flagstaff. And I'm working on a Two Lane Blacktop video of some of the locations so stay tuned.
Awesome video, Jeff..!!! So many lost stations and places on this Road 66, Wow what a nice Blue Swallow Motel with the beautiful neon lights..Great Place, love it..🥰👍🤠
Such a cool place staying at the Blue Swallow like going back in time. And the place you parked at from Two lane black top just awesome! Man! You get to go to some of the coolest places. You lucky man lol Be safe out there 🤙🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Thanks Ironhead!! I’ll definitely be going back to the Blue Swallow!! It’s so cool. And I’m proud of myself for finding the Two Lane Blacktop location!! Pretty cool right. I’m leaving for the Hot Rod Power Tour next week. Maybe I’ll see you out on the open road.
I just last week saw a kid from Canada making his way to Arizona, stopped at that same abandoned SHELL station and camp overnight there!!!! Great video, love the '55!!!!
On our family move West in '62, we spent the night at a "Motor Lodge" in Tucumcari. Imagine our surprise that the Easter Bunny found us there ! I was 4, my sister 6. That Bunny never let us down, neither did our '55 Desoto
Through many of our travels, we've had so many stops arranged that ended up closed. It's so important for new travelers to have multiple options to stop and explore. Luckily, we've never not found another cool place to stop.
Thank you so much @kingfunk9336 !! If you like what you saw would you do me a favor? Gimme a like & subscribe to my RUclips channel if you haven't already. I'd appreciate it.
Love the video. The Six Shooter in Tucumcari was Alex's Bar in the late 50's owned by my father-in-law Alec Taylor with his wife Lynn. Clint Eastwood was also a regular customer there drinking beer, and preferring it in a bottle. Alex also owned the Tasty Freeze on 66 in Tucumcari.
Late to the game on this video Jeff, but thanks for the ride. We have made some good friends in Tucumcari on our trips through. Like to the two guys that stopped to see your '55, everyone you meet there are nice down to earth folks. We're heading back that way in Sept., and can't wait. We've stayed at the the both the Blue Swallow, and the Safari several times. Think we're gonna stay in the Route 66 Motel this time.
Thank YOU for coming along for the ride with me @wanted-33 !! It's amazing to me how an old car & a road-trip can bring people together. Please keep me posted on how your stay at the Route 66 Motel is - I need to try out the Safari but I absolutely LOVE The Blue Swallow Motel... Thanks again!!
@@jeffthisted The Safari is just as nice as The Blue Swallow IMHO, and they have garages also. We've taken our C6 & C7 Corvettes on most of our Route 66 runs, but this time we'll be taking the wife's Mustang GT. I've had a lot of great conversations with folks about the Vette. It brings back a lot of memories for those that used to own one, and the ones that still own one always appreciate another Vette. I'm guessing the Vette's get much better mpgs than your '55 210 Wagon.😀
Gotta love a Corvette right@@wanted-33?!? I used to have a '69 'Vette - loved it. Yeah... the new vettes get great mileage for sure but they dont have 773hp.
It's pretty damn cool @@michaelgorman4229 It's like stepping back in time. I always try to stay there and support the local economy and to keep their neon lit up.
I’m glad you mentioned of the film 🎥 Two Lane Blacktop

Haven't been there since the early to mid 70's. It sure has changed a lot ! Good to see some of the Motels are still open for business.
I bet it’s changed a lot Charles!! But I bet a lot of it hasn’t changed a bit since then either. Gotta love Tucumcari right?!?

Great pictures.
Thanks so much Mike!! The Oatman highway is one of my all time favorites!!
I wonder if Winslow Dragstrip is still there. Last time I was there was in the early '80's
