I thought so too... against the mountain peaks backdrop up there was just perfect. Great, natural shots. Thanks for making sure we could see that. Along with the silly marmots!
I was pretty happy to see the title of this video as I'd planned to hike Ute this past Oct only they had closed Trail Ridge Rd just 2 days prior. I knew being mid-Oct it'd be cutting it very close weather wise and sure enough I missed the window. Your venture out there was amazing, and so beautiful, and I look forward to trying again when things are open and calmed down after the initial rush of ppl needing to get away. I imagine they'll crush RMNP for awhile before things are normal (?) again. Beautiful video, especially the lone elk with Longs in the background!
Enjoying rewatching a few of your videos today. You ought to do one from Upper Beaver Meadows to the Ute Crossing and back down. If you haven't done it before, I'll warn you that the three-mile section from Ute Meadows to Trail Ridge is pretty tough both ways because of all the steps. It's like doing deep-knee bends on the way up for an hour and a half. Coming downhill is pretty rough on the knees, too. There's a creek off the trail at Ute Meadows where you can get water.
We did a two car shuttle from the top of Trail Ridge Road down Timberline Pass to the Deer Mtn Trailhead. We couldn't park the car at upper Beaver because it was closed in the morning. But yeah, that DESTROYED my knees and all we did was come down it. That wiped me out for a while afterwards. I think I would have actually prefered going up it instead.
Holy cow! The elk in front of Longs Peak is just breathtaking!!! I almost cried! Can't wait to get up there! Any idea when they might open RMNP? Thanks for awesome vid!
Thanks! I have an acquaintance that is a park ranger and he was guessing maybe June 1.. but that was like a week ago and he was just throwing a number out. They just made it a requirement as of tomorrow that we HAVE to wear masks in all buildings in Fort Collins. Not to mention they have some pretty permanent signs up around RMNP saying its closed. I got one in my next vid. So I dont think its gonna open for a long time.
@@nicksangetta8874 That is heart breaking! The mountains are calling and I must go!! Mb we sneak!:) This is so awful what is happening! I can't breathe in a mask! Well at least we can still go to Horsetooth and the State Parks for now! Thanks for info.
@@Thenarrowpath833 Its heartbreaking and honestly starting to make me angry. I will neither confirm nor deny we snuck into the park in my next video. This whole thing is so ridiculous. And now they have made it so we are required to wear masks in the city of Fort Collins starting today. I refuse to comply. Im claiming masks pose a health risk to me. If anyone asks why, Im reminding them of the HIPAA privacy laws. I have even printed off some information to carry with me. Check it out Facemask exemption stoplookthink.com/face-mask-exemption/
@@nicksangetta8874 Thank you, I have not been complying as well! Plus we inherited the land from our creator! What authority do they think they have!!! Where is the dang militia!! :) TheBigSib channel has some good stuff you should check out sometime. Thanks for info!:)
That's a good one! I've been hunting for a good trail to use to introduce my son to the Rocky Mountains National Park and I think this may be the one. Easy and straightforward with a chance to see some wildlife and get some great views.
Stumbled across your channel planning our summer hiking trips 😁, always wanted to hike the Ute! Hopefully we can still get out to RMNP this summer 🤞🏼. Absolutely beautiful shots on the trail sir👍🏼! Nice channel as well, great vid! Hiked Deer Mountain last June😁
Thanks! I hope you are able to get into the park, but its looking pretty grim. They are reopening on May 27 however you have to schedule a time and buy a permit to enter the park. We will see what happens but I dont like the looks of things. Here is the RMNP info about it 970-586-1206
The trail? Human visitors to RMNP negatively impact the alpine tundra. Vegetation trampling and social trailing can hinder vegetation growth and lead to soil erosion, as can driving and parking vehicles on unpaved roadsides. Non-native plant species can then take advantage of denuded areas and may outcompete native plants that wildlife depends on. It can take hundreds of years for the alpine tundra to recover from seemingly minor impacts. USE THE TRAIL!!
The shot of that elk stag with Longs and Glacier Basin in the background has to be a Colorado Classic! Great stuff.
Thanks man! That is probably the best shot Ive ever taken. I was just in the right spot at the right time.

Amazing shot there. Definitely poster worthy
It's at 20:37, fantastic shot, you have a great eye Nick!

It was actually the first real hike I ever did too. Its a good one, just a little rough going over the rocky trail.

Nick Sangetta thanks for the inside info!
Very cool hike! Fantastic views. Animals so terrific. Hey, what’s with the pine tree die-off (@14:46)? Looks pretty widespread. Any ideas?
Its probably due to "Beetle Kill" but Im not too sure. Supposedly these beetles bore their way in and kill the tree.
Does the Park care you walk across the tundra because it is so protected along other paths.
Amazing!!!
6:05 Estes come?
Yes indeed! Its out there. The pointy dark one in upper right of the screen.
Nick Sangetta thanks Nick
I may've said this before, but: I'll never understand why they didn't call marmots "mountain dogs" like how they named prairie dogs.

Its actually pronounced U Tee named after the Ute native american tribe.
I did not know that! Im sure this isnt the only name I have butchered over the years.
