I wanted to be a priest as a young boy and turned down the chance to study in Rome in the 6th grade. It is my biggest personal regret. Even today my bedroom resembles a chapel. This video brings joy to my soul. Thank you for sharing.
I loved this tour! I visited the Dominican House of Studies last Halloween for the all souls service, which I loved. I’m starting to discern whether to become a Dominican sister so please pray for me :)
The Dominicans, particularly my homeroom teacher, Sister Dominica (irony ik) helped save me here on the Aquinas Campus in nashville ,TN. God Bless - i am truly astonished by the grace and patience they gave to such a lost soul. Thank you from my the bottom of my soul from a heart i once thought would be closed forever.
Wonderful! Thank you from an old Third Order Dominican; I am always supporting you with my prayers (St. Joseph Province). St. Rose of Lima , ora pro nobis.
Wow. Blood brothers who are Dominican brothers as well. How blessed is their mother. I am jealous. Haha. I wish my son would become a holy priest someday but His will be done. God bless all clerics!
Very powerful interaction indeed! God bless you young friars; you give our church a promise of a great future. I enjoyed watching your interview. Quite spiritually stimulating and informative.
I love how traditional everything looks. It's so beautiful. When I visited with the Dominicans 10 years ago, none of them ever wore habits and the place looked so lifeless and sterile.
Thank You. And yes I would mention among those great Dominican Saints a St. Hyacint of Poland for His apostolic work and miracle in Ukraine and Kiev now when the war rages there. Ave florum flos Hycinthe... I used to live and pray by His grave in Cracow.
I wish I knew that you have daily community meditation and that that chapel is open to public to join you in prayer at certain times. A couple of months ago, I was in that area for a vacation.
I love catholic chapels. I visit a Salesian one last weekend for a moment of prayer and it felted very special. I'm protestant but as an artist, I admire your art and liturgy.
The older brother looked proud of his younger brother. Btw, Theology and Sanity is a good rec. I'm re-reading Theology for Beginners by Frank Sheed again.

if our Lord is calling you to the priesthood, pursue it. St Faustina and many others had setbacks but still pursued :) so if it's to be, God will make the way.
I knew a Cistercian monk who joined the order after his wife died and had a family he was very happy in fact I was talking to him one day and he said to me look out at that view I have every day a millionaire couldn’t afford it It was into a part of the garden next to n apple orchard and it was spring time and the daffodils were in bloom. His monastery was in roscrea county Tipperary Ireland the monastery is county Offaly just on the Tipperary border. They have a guesthouse there where anyone can stay for week or so and can call into the church for the prayers Mount St. Joseph Monastery roscrea also you can watch glenstall abbey on church services they have a live camera in their church
@@mixielotthank you so much for your comment. I’m not really able to pursue religious life right now due to family and financial obligations but I’m considering joining the Third Order/Lay Dominican chapter in my area. God bless you.
I wanted to become a Saint Joseph Province Dominican… (My mentor and spiritual director was Father Val LaFrance, OP - AND - I had four (4) Aunts who were Adrian Dominican Sisters!.... When I attended a “come and see“ weekend at the House of Studies, DC (I had just finished my Masters Degree in Music / Liturgy) … I was absolutely shocked & heartbroken at how rude and belittling the brothers who were there at the time were... not just to me… But to several other wonderful young men who really were hoping to find peace & welcome! I am now a fully professed Franciscan Brother. I very much remember how hurt & abandoned I felt when I left DC!!!… Now whenever a young man approaches me with the same interests & questions I had… I go out of my way to let him know that everyone has gifts to bring to the church of God… Regardless of race, color, orientation, and education level.
A couple of observations...as a former benedictine monastic. The use of the term "lay people" came out of nowhere, and it seems odd considering how little the interviewer purports to know. The second thought was touching that ancient book without gloves. Whaaaaat was he thinking? The oil on one's hands interacts with the old paper or parchment, and not in great ways. Two sweet guys though.
Dominicans and Franciscans are my favourite monastic orders...i was baptized (as a baby), did my first communion and attended a Roman catholic junior high school in Ottawa...But have been consciously Roman catholic since age 18 when i had some wondrous faith experiences while living at the YMCA...My christian faith has evolved in time...i am now 64 years of age...And if someone asks me what my denomination is i answer: My head is protestant, my heart is Roman catholic and my soul is eastern orthodox...Why my head is protestant?...One example: I am certain that our Creator (He/She>see the original Aramaic words of the 'Lord's Prayer' as Jesus taught us>'Our Father/Mother who art in Heaven...') is offended by our depicting Jesus as a suffering man nailed to the cross...It would be like having the foto of a murdered child on the wall...the parents would find that horrifying and disgusting...Christians only started depicting Jesus suffering on the cross in the 6th century...and before that the christian cross symbol (many variants) did not have a suffering (white) Jesus on it...BECAUSE HE IS RISEN...also the distribution of holy body parts has nothing to do with true christianity but is folk devotion...John 4:24, Jesus states, "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." This teaching implies that worship is not limited to a specific location or ritual but is rather a matter of the heart and obedience to His commands. Greetings from the Netherlands🌞 p.s. i heard your wonderful Dominican House of Studies choir singing on Radio Maria here in the Netherlands...heavenly music!
Dominicans are not in fact a monastic order. They are initialy clergy gathered around bishop in a community that adopted some of monastic rules (premonstratens) in order to do a fruitful apostolic work of preaching. Undertaking challenging tasks in the Church they are in a way similar and competing, and complementary order to Jesuits appearing in hard times. Monastic orders can but not neccessary have to do an apostolic work depending on their rules and charisma.
Consecration to God is all about outreach to the poor, feeding the hungry, and rescuing people from personal problems! Living in a priesthood community removes oneself from interaction with those outside the community and is not what Jesus was all about! Jesus was all about contact, living with people, and even having a good Christian family. Living in a community, wearing a white "uniform", and priding oneself in an inherently isolated existence is not what Jesus was all about! Dominicans are a medieval religious order with little connection to the real world. At least the Franciscans are out there with the poor and reaching out to help them!
I really don't like that there can even be teasing within these religious sects. I believe that belongs in the outside world. Not in groups or organizations based on holiness.

Great to know 2 siblings are both ordained priests. Their parents bred them so properly

Bred them?
They are people, not horses.

Right?? I’d give anything to go to Mass in the big Chapel. That altar!!!!💕🙏📿

May God bless these Dominicans! I love Frank Sheed and am SO glad to hear his book recommended by one of the priests.
Well done!
Great video, thanks for sharing and God bless you all with more vocations.
I enjoyed this video very much.
Very compelling. I do like the thought of O.P. after my name.
Very good information
Over sixty-five thousand books is definitely a 'nice collection'!
Very well done.

I LOVE it, the St. Joseph Altar is set up to say the Latin Mass!
Yes, Dominicans seem not to quite get it, in the English speaking world.

Dominican priests are intellectuals and like kitchen equipment. They are deep friars.
😂😂😂
Good video but a point, you don't just say Mass, you Offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
I thought Dominicans wore black and white and Benedictines wore all white. No?
Jesus shut off the volume for me because you are deceived. Mary cannot protect anyone-Only God and Jesus can protect and they send their angels.
The blessed virgin Mary and Saint Joseph protected Jesus.
