The pads at 28:01 are ZMF Ori in all aspects including foam density, so one could get them in any variation from ZMF assuming they're okay with overpaying. I have both and I'm nearly certain that they come from the same Chinese OEM too. Extremely versatile pads for modding purposes, unlike memory foam equivalents.

I recognize those Nectars - that's a JVC HA-Rx700 chassis, just with new earcups. Not detrimental at all, they really are a comfy headband, just a funny note to me. I recognize them because a pair of those JVC's is what got me started in actually appreciating audio, bought them from a CVS with chore money back as a kid, used them to play battlefront and listen to MCR mostly, but that was where I started actually paying attention to headphones and music listening.
FWIW, those headphones lasted me for years before the cable gave out, so I've no doubt on the durability of the headband and such.
I was about to reply the same thing. Both the JVC HA-RX700 and RX900 used that chassis.
I still have a pair of HA-RX700. Replaced the pads with some thiccbois and it's got a surprisingly good tuning and actually really nice soundstage and imaging for the $40 that I paid. Only issue is a channel imbalance but I just play with the level slider in windows.
27:30 is when the sheer power of having two electrostats on the desk started to corrupt the video.

But Stax L300s are only around $450!.....I'll take the Stax over either of these buts it's great to see some new electrostatics on the market and at reasonable prices.

So I own the hives as well as other staxs models such as the l300, sigma, 007mk1….. and honestly they are solid when it comes to soundstage however I feel like they can lack a bit in certain areas from my experience. I’ll always grab the 007mk1 over these they have a clarity to them that the hives just can’t match. I’d say the hives are an electrostatic planar if that makes sense. I still have mine for testing, but I do think after all the tests they are the least electrostatic sounding electrostat that I’ve heard. This could be good if you have an all electrostat set up like I do but one may question whether just getting a planar makes more sense in most cases
My ONLY issue with buying the stax as my first electrostats is the comfort. Are my ears going to press against the grill? I dont have dumbo ears but the pads on stax DO NOT look like they are comfortable.

Please please, look up the Jamo 507i's. they're Concert series speakers from the 90s-00s, they're 200w 4 Ohmm MTM + isobaric LF, small but deep towers, with a tiny facade and a gorgeous real veneer and glass finish. Please try to review these. I have them and I feel they tick so many boxes, they're insanely good, and exotic and beautiful. I'd propose to buy them back from you, but I live on the Reunion Island (France). If you decide to sell them after and manage to ship them here, I'd be happy to own a second pair. I bet you'll keep them though!

rebel amp really derailed my upgrade plan. Was planning a 3k headphone amp, and I cant convince myself to move on from Rebel amp. I think I will get an F-10 pro just to power my Arya, and stop there. for a long time. Dacs on the other hand... I still didn't manage to find a good one. Right now I have a Qtest, but it sound too thin. I guess I will get a soekris to see how that goes.

Fast is: Pouring grains of sands that tickle as they fall (dynamic) vs pouring a steady liquid of rhythm (planner/estat). The ladder would be fast. You remove that absolute subtle pause as the driver resets to drive the next beat forward. This is the best logical explanation I have.
Best for your punk rock lots of noise bands. It separates the wash of noise into audible separate instraments. Which can be eyepopping. A bunch of other music genes can benefit from them. I wouldn't say their the end all be all though. My ears prefer warm dynamics in most instances.

Was it the kph30i's or the STAX that needed a couple days to break in then sounded amazing, or was it both?
Even if I ever get the chance of listening to the Susvara, I'd still need to meet true detail in person with an electrostat (and of course a good energizer) smh. I feel like that's a rarer opportunity.

Zeos, perhaps consider building and reviewing the DIY Nectar Agave Electrostatic Amplifier. Should be quite cheap to build and supposedly by measurements better than Stax's amps and cheap to build!.
I would like to see a review of Asus theta electrek...they claim to be electrostatic headphones but I doubt it for the price
I bought the Stax L500 mk1 for 500 euro.
Mk1 was on sale, because the Mk2 was coming.
I am throwing out a guess but I think I have seen that headphone shape before but it was in a college class and I know some MF isnt bring electrostats to class. So im betting its a existing chasis from some OEM and he just put his own drivers and back on them. So that lip could be doing nothing that you want to cut, that being said dont be mad at me if you cut your headphones and they dont sound as good.

and I feel like it if he says it doesn't impact the openness it probably doesn't. Like the 58X rear cover did nothing to sound but you said it did. I think this is one of the few things that gets you on the placebo effect. but it's good that it's this and not cables or something like most other reviewers.
On that review machine yes.. On my main machine I actually use a vertical tab bar so I can have like 50 visible on my screen.
