Fairly sure I just won a pair of these from a giveaway. I honestly can't wait to get them now, first Planar and first audio product over $200. Most expensive before was Starfield and HD58X. These are going to be a leap into something i've never heard before.
My favorite Headphones are / were the Audeze LCD 4 and being $4000 was not in my budget I had to find something sub $1000 which meant I bought multiple Hifiman offerings and nothing really came close until I bought Monolith m1570s Wich were reviewed negatively by Zeos because they were as heavy as the LCD 4s as well as complaining that the metal was too easily beant . I just had the Moondrop Venus's for several days and although I do like the build they really just reminded me of the Sundara's and did not even come close to my m1570s that I got two year's ago for $420 and are as close to the LCD 4s as you can get for a fraction of the cost . Now Zeos did not like the LCD 4s so I was not surprised that he was not a fan of the m1570s . So if you are going to buy something that a reviewer recommends make sure your taste and preferred sound signature is somewhat close to the reviewer . As far as amplifier or DACs go Z reviews is fine but when it comes to headphones not so much.... because what he enjoys I find boring AF lol
I love and have the monolith m1050 and 1570. The 1060 is my daily driver that I prefer over the utopia. For value, I love the hifi man hr6se v2 on Adaorama when on sale.
I have the HarmonicDyne G200s and since you were mentioning the lack of clam in the button of the cup, when I got them a few months ago I managed to increase it by nudging a small piece of soft plastic on the space between the cup and the metal piece that connects to the headband, effectively locking the cups in a steady and tighter position. While that was great to accomplish the end result wasn't as awesome, it was crazy how much heavier they felt with just some extra clamp. Couldn't wear them for more than 15 mins before getting tired. So pretty much I feel the lack of clamp in the lower part of the cup is a conscious design decision so you don't feel the actual weight of the headphones and they feel lighter and more comfortable. (Still might be worth the try if it works for anyone, though) Also noticed after using them with both sets of pads for a while that with the Lambskin pads, since they are slightly thicker than the flannel ones, the lack of clamp is a none issue and they fit tighter that way.
I just watched DMS headphones show he was saying the venus is a bit more natural than the final audio d8000 which cost 4000$ its incredibly insane that the venus can challenge ate this price point
Law of Diminishing returns , paying for build quality , paying for marketing , paying for advertising , paying for packaging , pay for extra accessories. These are what you’re paying for not so much of top tier resolution. Headphones are scams. Get you an electrostat with bass $1,000 or less
My Fiio BTR7 does this thing sometimes when it's plugged in, where it will derp out and just pitch-shift youtube videos down and it takes a while before I notice. The first half of the video you sounded super sexy, Zeos.
Make sure to update the firmware if you haven't already! I just did it using the FIIO Control app and I had to just change the language back to english, now it is doing quite well and really is just a portable version of my Monolith THX AAAs.
How are the sheepskins on the Venus? Are they better than stock? I know Zeos was recommending the vegan leather pads but I'm not a fan of PU leather at all.
@peterklick2385 modhouse pads are all good. The differences are neglible enough to just try a pair. I have the suedes and they are insanely comfortable and sound awesome. Yeah, the lambs sound a tiny bit different, but am I noticing while I'm blissed out enjoying my music? Nope. Audiophiles are never happy, seems like a miserable way to enjoy music. I put about $500ish in headphone based audio gear and I'm done. There's no way a $1k headphone sounds literally twice as good as my $500 and I'm not gonna hear it if I'm actually enjoying my music and not just sitting there overanalyzing it like a dork.
In 2019, he did a review on the Sendy Aiva and I loved those. Still love them and if you can get them you’ll enjoy them as well. Planar. $600. They are sheer beauty to look at as well. Great cable as well. I wish I could try these as well and compare them. But I’m happy with what I have. Under $1000 I’m looking to get something that’s dynamic and closed back.

It was painful. I mean physically and emotionally freakin painful… when I had to take these off to get my son out of bed this morning. My heart hurt. Call me a newbie, or a normie, or an idiot, I don’t care. These are simply the best headphones I’ve ever listened to. Try Ana Netrebko singing “Dido’s Lanment”. I literally almost started crying. Stock pads (I have the Mod House Xenons waiting), no EQ, just a HibyR6 iii and QoBuz Studio. That’s it. “These are a fn no joke.”
Looks like any “sticky” with the headband resets as soon as you stretch them to put on your noggin. And I like the way the headband looks. I just have other things I yearn for to give up my Sundaras for another planar.
Ive heard that but they aren't THAT heavy. I didn't even mention it in the video because they weigh what you think they should based on size and materials. When it weighs more or less then you expect I mention it.
I love the Art Deco earcups, but what's up with that huge aureole type headband. Yes I know other headphones do headbands like this, I just think it's over the top.
Notice that you switch between the Zahl HM1 and the Xduoo TA-22 a lot. The Zahl is a rare $8,000 amp, the Xduoo an affordable hybrid. How do you compare the two?
I like watching Zeos videos to support and for entertainment value, but I have ZMF Atrrium headphones, which kind of negates the need for cheaper stuff like this for me personally.
Man I hate living in Europe. Even getting these to my country would cost me like 500€ more minimum. Fuck customs and every moron that decided for these ridiculous percentage prices, taxes and whatnot. No matter which pair of ZMF, you overpay for all of them here, no matter if you import or if you get them from a reseller.
I can't find actual measurements of the xenon pads online. The only pads that don't touch my pinna are hd800/s and eggfimans. The SHP9500 fits nice height wise but is too narrow and shallow. Will these modhouse pads fit me or should I just stick to the stock Venus pads?
A question, what pair of Mod House pads should I get for these? I have Ether sheepskin leather angled pads from DCA on my Para, should I go with Z's recommendation and get vegan leather or sheepskin instead?
Update: I tried the DCA Sheepskin Angled pads on my Venus and it made them much too bright and fatiguing despite making the soundstage absolutely massive. I had another pair of protein leather pads which I tried next and they sounded much more balanced. Rounded off the treble, made mids more forward, and increased the bass just enough to where it had more impact. I went ahead and got the protein leather pads from Mod House like Zeos suggested.

The headband looks terrible. Makes the whole headphone look DIY. The only way I'm buying a DIY-looking headphone from a large Chinese retail company like Moondrop is if theyre on par with multi-thousand dollar headphones in sound quality & bass, for a fraction the cost. I'm talking Susvara for $600, not 6 grand! Also, not angling the cable connectors forward on ALL full size headphones by now is unacceptable. My old M1060 had this problem too. Heard these were really heavy to wear. What do you think?
Not compared to like LCD.. These are nothing in that comparison.
Zeos how would you say these handle low end compared to something like the edition XS or the other egg shaped Hifimans?
It isn't their focus. BUT they have enough low end to satisfy. These are more for detail retrieval and clarity.
I like watching Zeos videos to support and for entertainment value, but I have ZMF Atrrium headphones, which kind of negates the need for cheaper stuff like this for me personally.
