    I have seen videos on this joining method before, but not as thorough. I am working on a granny project right now and am much more confident on this joining method. Thank you Jayda, you are the best!!

    Thank you for the tute ❤️
    Couple of q’s , at about 14:12 you say about like getting yarn attached else it will end as mattress stitch , but I always thought ladder and mattress stitch were the same ,so are they actually different ?
    Also you say about pulling tight , does this affect the stretch a great deal , like if you still need to have a bit of stretch , are you going to loose that ?
    Thank you my lovely x

      @JaydaInStitches  3 месяца назад

      Hi! I see the names Mattress and Ladder interchanged on occasion, but I understand the mattress stitch to be an overlocking stitch and this one is not. If you don't pull tightly you'll have loose "ladders" that will be visible between your squares 😊

      Yes, just like the Totally Tunisian Calendar Blanket or the 12 stripes in last year's blanket.

    Jayda, when stitching this join method, what can you do if on one of your squares you miscount and a stitch is missing? other then frogging.. they squares are all tied for a sweater i am making, but i have realized i have lost a stitch in 2 of my squares...?

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  3 месяца назад +2

      Hi Wende! If you have MORE stitches in a square you're trying to match, skip a stitch on that square as you sew. It won't show 😊

    The Good news - I can finally get in my craft room. I was able the other evening to move all the extra stuff around enough.
    The bad news - It really hasn't made a bit of difference... I don't have time, at the moment. Plus it has gotten way too hot to want to mess with yarn

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  3 месяца назад

      Certainly, but it's visible, so if all your squares finish the with same colour, it's fine to use.

  • @TheKellyHaggerty

    Is this also called double mattress stitch in knitting?

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  3 месяца назад

      I've heard people call it the mattress stitch, but I find that confusing since I understand the mattress stitch to be the over lock stitch!

    Joining squares makes me nervous because I've had stitches come undone. Major bummer.

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  3 месяца назад

      Tight knots, double knot if you're concerned about slippery yarn, and the REAL trick is making sure you leave enough yarn to weave in (back and forth, back and forth) so it gets locked in place under your stitches 😊
