good though, jus because the characters didn’t look like the ones in the series or the plot was completely different from the old anime doesn’t mean it’s a complete horrible movie, things just has to change. It’s something entertaining I have watched about 3 times already. There’s worse netflix originals than this one and deathnote is not on the list.

Kenichi matsuyama really nailed the L's character. Can't say the same thing for L's in 2015 drama version.
kento yamazaki didn't write L's character in the drama lol. Both are amazing. 2015 drama L is a great character, it's just not the normal L because they put a spin on his character, it was actually well done, unique and refreshing.
Try to watch the 2006 live action. This was probably the most beautiful ending. L's here is smarter than the original one and the actor did a great job portraying L he looks like L stepped out of the anime and became a real person.

The 2015 version didn't capture L's personality that well I'm saying this because I'm honest. I actually watched that drama and came there for Kento (the guy who plays L) and I knew some of the other actors as well such as the guy who plays Light. But it felt like L was emotionless but in my opinion still I prefer the 2015 version but still could be debated with the 2006

But I actually kinda like that about the series? Sure it’s not the L we’re used to, but it’s a really good reimagining of his character that’s new and interesting whilst still getting the point of his character across

The 2015 version is my favorite iteration of the story. Its the only one where I found myself sympathizing with both Light and L. In all other versions I can’t relate at all to Light and it makes it harder for me to care about everything that happens to either of them.

I think one thing nobody thinks about is just how young L actually is. When he dies, he's only 24-25 in the series, maybe not a kid but he's a young adult still

As someone who grew up with Death Note since 2006, I disagree. Besides the one in the manga and anime, I prefer Kenichi Matsuyama's L. The 2015 version of L didn't really portray his personality and mannerism, looked too different from the L I know.
Kenichi Matsuyama's portrayal of L was spot on in my opinion.

So, if by "hero", you mean someone who's given a power, then yes, I suppose so. But, we rarely use that definition. The title of "hero" is usually given to the person in a story that does a/many good deed(s). What is/isn't a good deed is up to you, but generally speaking, wanting to take over the world and killing innocent people to do so isn't generally considered good. Then there's committing mass genocide, using people selfishly, teaming up with a god of death (which isn't necessarily bad, but there was no hesitation), and contemplating killing his family if they got in the way... yeah.
So, no, I don't see light as any kind of "hero". He's the villain of the story. I'm willing to say he's a tragic villain. If he didn't find that book then none of this probably would have happened.

And, antiheros are still classified as heroes. They're heroes that do unheroic things for good reasons. Which isn't Light. He does bad things for selfish reasons.

He wants to rule over everyone through his sick interpretation of justice. He (Light Yagami) wants Kira (still Light Yagami) to be the entity above all others. He wants to be a god.
