That wasn't just Stan Lee...he was holding his real life wife Joan Lee in her first and only cameo. 😮
Apocalypses first appearance was in X-Factor vol. 1 #5 as a shadowy cameo and full appearance in X-Factor vol. 1 #6. Writer Louise Simonson (Wife of writer/artis Walt Simonson) and artist Jackson "Butch" Guice.
X-Factor was a mutant team book which reunited the five founding members of the X-Men: Jean Grey, Scott Summers, Hank McCoy, Warren Worthington III and Bobby Drake. It also saw the transformation of Angel to Archangel as one of Apocalypses four Horsemen. In this case the Horseman of Death. 😮
Psylocke a.k.a. "Betsy" Elizabeth Braddock is the sister of Brian Braddock a.k.a. Captain Britain. Psylocke is a telepath similar to Jean and Charles and is extensively trained in hand to hand combat. She can use her powers to create a psychic dagger or katana. 😮
Essex Corp. Is the company owned by Nathan Essex a.k.a. Mr. Sinister. A geneticist who can shape shift and teleport via shadows. He is known for cloning mutants. 😮
That is amazing that Stan Lee got to do a cameo with his wife!! ❤
I always wondered if it was cause they just looked like a couple..

“Wolverine called him bub”
She needs to watch the animated series
Agreed💯
Angel has now become Archangel. It happens differently in the comics, but still does happen because of Apocalypse.
His metal wings can regenerate. Meaning, limitless amount of deadly poisonous metal blades.
In regards to the end credit scene, ESSEX CORP. Is the company of one Nathaniel Essex. In the comics, he was a human that experimented on mutants in the early to mid 1800s. All of this is explained in the X-Men 90s cartoon and X-Men97. Essex adopts the codename of Mr. Sinister!
Yup. Jax, X-Men 90's and X-Men'97 (it's continuation of X-Men 90).
he nerfed gambit 😤
Ah, the first time Oscar Isaac played an Egypt related Marvel character.
the second time being ... Moon Knight?
😂😂he was great in both
Apocalypse was born around 5,000 years ago in Egypt. Apocalypse with millions of years of experience would be absolutely horrifying.
Not the least of reasons being that him being millions of years old rather than thousands of years old would mean that Apocalypse pre-dates Homo sapiens as a species by at least 600,000 years, making him a mutant of a earlier species of human.
He was a really great villain!
Facts
Doesn't matter when you have Phoenix on the team. In the movies, she's one of Marvel's most powerful characters - but in the comics, she's on the same level as Celestial beings such as Death, Infinity, Eternity, etc. In this movie, she barely understood what was happening with her powers or how they worked - and still completely obliterated Apocalypse with little effort.
For context, having Phoenix-Force Jean on the team is like having Michael Jordan in his prime on your pee-wee basketball team and playing against a bunch of 7-year olds. That was the fun situation that Claremont/Byrne created in the comics after Jean transformed into Phoenix in issue 100 of the original series. The team spent 36 issues running around fighting the same old chumps like the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, the Shadow King, and Juggernaut - then Jean would just casually flick a finger and the fight was over. And then, issue 137 happened...
Phoenix’s power level was too high in the books.
Being mentioned in conversations with the higher order beings is undeserved in my opinion.
Claremont excess that was rightfully crushed by Shooter.
Killing her off made one the best comics stories ever though.
I like that Apocalypse sees Angel and goes upgrade your wings to metal, see Storm and says okay Mohawk and cape, see Magnetio and goes you're good maybe bigger cape and sees Psylocke and thinks skintight one piece and boots lol
Apparently Olivia Munn asked for the costume to be comic book accurate. Total respect.
@Andy_val respect but still lol
Best cameos of Stan Lee & Wolverine in my opinion. Also that Stan Lee's wife Joan.
"At least we can all agree the third one's the worst"
... line targeted at The Last Stand... unintentionally strikes its bullseye when aimed at Apocalypse, the 3rd of the reboot films...
Erik has another daughter in the comics and she dates Alex Summer (and briefly Bobby). Lorna Dayne. She has her father's power and she has green hair.
and her name is Polaris
And is called Polaris
*cough* Wanda Maximoff *cough, cough* a.k.a. Scarlett Witch
And was a main character on The Gifted, a very underrated X-Men TV show.
@3Kings_Industries Wanda's origins were retconned. Neither she nor Peter are currently Erik's kids. They aren't even mutants. They got their powers from the High Evolutionary...
Might want to get that cough checked...
5:03 To be fair, Wolverine calls everyone "Bub" 😅

@@nooneofconsequence1251 The worst X-Men movies were all dealing with the Phoenix storyline and Jean Grey, so nah.

I always liked this movie. Maybe because i never have actually read X-Men comics in my youth but only Spidey, FF, Avengers,, Iron Man, Hulk. So maybe there are the same reasons for X-Men readers compareable to that i still don't like how they treated Hank Pym in the MCU, especially of course in Age of Utron, since he created Ultron in the comics, and he also was in the comics the "First Avenger".
Whatever, for me its a great movie.

Okay, the Essex Corp is owned by a mutant named Mr. Sinister. He acquires mutant abilities and tries to manipulate them.
Mister Sinister was a scientist in the late 1800s who was experimenting with gene therapy to save the life of his children. This is when he discovered and became obsessed with mutants. His real name is Nathaniel Essex.
And he's a threat to the X-Men on the same level as apocalypse.
And that literally went nowhere😂
@@hecrosegreat3943 actually it did. The blood sample they took went into creating wolverine's daughter and clone in the movie Logan.
That facility that they broke out of in the beginning of Logan was owned by the Essex corporation.

Yes. In the comics, Mystique is Nightcrawler's mother and Azazel is his father. Mystique is also Rogue's foster mother in the comics.

Fun facts volume 8-The character Cable from Deadpool 2. Was infected with a techno organic virus by Apocalypse. Which is why Cable is half machine. He’s also the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey. In a future where Apoc rules the planet. Which is why Cable time travels. To try and stop Apoc from being awoken.
Jean's clone is his mother in the new animated series. Isn't that canon from the comic books?
@@kanemarko2503 yes it is, a clone created by Mr sinister.
It's madylon Pryor in the comics main continuity, but in some other parallel universes it is jean. But main 616 universe the real jean never had nathan because she's usually dead or scott is with her clone or Emma frost
I think there's what the MCU X-Men 97 is going into for the next season.
Regarding the post credit scene and the next few movies, and without getting into spoilerly details... The Essex Corp tease ties into 2017's Logan, but also heavily ties into 2020's The New Mutants. I know you have been going in release order, but chronologically, New Mutants takes place before Logan. Also to consider, New Mutants was pushed back several times. Originally supposed tp be released on April 13, 2018, it eventually released on August 28, 2020, now after Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix. Having it release last, three movies after its relevant post-credit scene, and especially so long after Logan, sorta leaves the finale of the series in an awkward state. Having it be a non-starter for a new generation that got cut off thanks to the Disney merger.
My personal order would be as follows:
- Apocalypse
- The New Mutants
- Logan
- Deadpool 2
- Dark Phoenix
This only moves The New Mutants, but if you wanted a more timeline accurate order, you would instead put Logan last on the list, but then people would argue about Deadpool 2, and that in and of itself is another can of worms. So don't even try to worry about those sorta things yet.
Thank you again for your wonderful and engaging reactions!
Just like to remind you of something Jax...
...in the last movie, Azazel has a prehensile tail, can teleport and has red skin. Mystique has blue skin.
Ponder that....for about 9 months. Wink Wink.
Also, using Metallica's 'Four Horseman' what the only choice for this movie.
And Damn doesn't Archangel look so effing cool. :)

In the comics, Angel's wings were cut off by the Marauders, were led by Mr. Sinister. Apocalypse then found him, warped his mind and gave him the metal wings; making Angel the 4th horseman of Apocalypse named Death.
If possible, you should try to get a hold of the comic series call The Age of Apocalypse. It is truly a horrifying account on what could happen if Apocalypse ruled the Earth.
The scene where they rebuild the house with just 2 people should answer why apocalypse doesnt care about modern society. He can literally build whatever he wants however he wants. With billions of slaves on top of it all.
Just like religion, only the god doesn´t exist to do anything.
@@PROVOCATEURSK i cant say i fully understand this response with respect to what i commented on. If you can clarify that would be appreciated.
3:05 "Oh my God! You are folded like origami." 😲...🤣🤣🤣 I did not expect that turn of phrase!
50:53 Nathaniel Essex is Mr. sinister in the comics. Essex Corp also runs the "Mutant Factory" and the sample they take is used to make Deadpool.
The thing I hate about this story is Magneto would ALWAYS have plenty of metal on him at all times. He’s a survivor. Guess you got to make them vulnerable to have a movie, though. It’s like Deadpool said, “That’s just lazy writing!”
"Then we will fight in the shade." Magneto, Thermopylae, 480 BCE.
Fun fact: Weapon X was part of the Weapon Plus Program. In comic canon, Weapon I was Captain America.
The Essex Corp thing doesn't really go anywhere, but technically it does in the New Mutant's movie. I like to think that the bit of Quicksilver saying "I'm your... I'm here for my family, too." was enough for Magneto to understand that He's Quicksilver's dad. Also, there are a few "connections" between this movie and two MCU projects that comes later.
If Disney didn't buy Fox, they would have definitely gone in that route.
Logan had the genetically engineered clones such as X-23 and the Alkali-Transigen was owned by Essex.
The New Mutants had the asylum that was owned by Essex, his logo was shown here and there, there were footages in the movie that was the same or similar to the one shown in Logan. Essex was also the one to message the Doctor to kill Dani Moonstar (the main character) in the movie.
Basically every mutant has been a good guy at one point, and a bad guy at another point. As crazy as that sounds.

@@JRSiebz Out of order?!? D'oh! My bad on the "spoiler" comment, though, then. I'll delete it.
The actor that p[lays Apocalypse is Oscar Issac, who played Moon Knight in MCU.
And in the comics, Apocalypse is absolutely massive, a lot closer to the size when he grew to massive size on the movie (45:16).Also his look in the comics is a LOT different to the movie and when we first gpt a look at Apocalypse, there was a massive backlash on the internet and people were making their own concept art, showing a much much more accurate Apocalypse than the movie.
Apocalypse changing Angel's wings is totally comic-accurate. Apocalypse also renamed him Archangel, like from the Bible. The X-men actually free Archangel from Apocalypse and he rejoins the X-men with those huge metal wings.
And Psylocke is also a member of the X-men team in the comics and never joins Apocalypse's band of Horsemen.
And yeh when this first came out, I remember thinking this was an excellent X-Men movie as well. Not sure how other people felt.
4:38 I like how Jax is always asking the REAL questions in all of her reactions😌
Favourite scene in the film, Quicksilver speeding through the school 😊
And the dog!
Mine too.
They could've used a better song tho like using Metallica's 4 Horsemen when Tacolips recruited Archangel was spot on
using the rules established in the previous film, he just killed every single one of those people.
i love your sociopathic giggles when people are butchered on screen ahah
but seriously, i'm worried about you..
Scott is supposed to be the older one of the Summers brother in all other X-men comics , and animated series
He is older than Alex but he is actually the middle son. He has an older brother.
34:49 I love this moment right here because he looks at his hand realizing he can’t count to more then 3
50:50 Nathaniel Essex... also known as Mr Sinister. A scientist born in the Victorian era of London, and uses mutant DNA to constantly improve and better his own power set. He's one of the prime villains of the X-Men comic books.
5:22 "Oh. It's electrocuted. They're _stuck_ in there."
Yeah. Which kind of surprises me. I mean, this makes it look like _my_ previous understanding of Nightcrawler's powers is, somehow, incomplete.
Remember, in _X2: X-Men United,_ they _introduced_ this character, and they explained that his powers gave him the ability to transport to any location he could _see._ That was the only requirement.
He can _see_ locations outside that _cage._ How have they managed to contain him?
This Wolverine is the closest to his origin story I remember seeing first in the 90s animated X-men series.
11:04 Jax: "No need to make a big deal about it"
Narrator: "They made a big deal about it"
Jax: "I'm so worried that people are going to come after him now"
Narrator: "People did, in fact, come after him now..."
In the comics, Apocalypse actually rips off Angel's wings, he doesn't transmute them.
Sorta, but no. Warren lost his wing in the Mutant Massacre when Harpoon stabbed through them. They were later amputated in X-Factor, without his consent, and he grew despondent. Apocalypse then altered his genetic material and gave him the metal wings. But, he eventually re-grew the feathered ones as a secondary mutation of being able to heal himself and others with his blood.
Essex Corp is the people that created X23, Logan's daughter. Also Essex is actually Mr. Sinister, big X-Men villain.
Nathaniel Essex is a villain named Mr. Sinister, he's basicly Mutant Mad Scientist who experiments with DNA. He's most known for cloning Jean Grey as another woman, Madeline Pryor, because he's obsessed with making sure there's an offspring between the Summers and Grey's as he calculated it would be incredibly powerful.
Logan's cameo here is a more comic accurate portrayal of his escape after having received the Adamantium surgery (minus encountering the young xmen during his escape) - those prongs he removed from his body were bonding injector pins for the Adamantium to flow through
Logan: *slaughters everyone*
Jax: *laughs maniacally*
I've been waiting for this one. People crap on X:Apoc, but it's my favorite of the ones, with Magneto carrying a lot of that. Quicksilver in the exploding mansion set to Sweet Dreams is just such an amazing setpiece too.
27:38 A Klick is a term used by the military to denote one kilometer. Using this shorthand word of one syllable, instead of the longer four-syllable word, allows for briefer and more efficient communication.
The reason Scott can't control his power is because of head trauma from an accident. There's no reason they couldn't have given a similar backstory here.

Thanks for your reactions! I love that Quicksilver scene with the mansion exploding- can't go wrong with Sweet Dreams playing in the background! Glad you enjoyed the film! I liked specific moments in this film- the mansion explosion, Wolverine's escape from Weapon X, etc.
The Essex corporation Easter egg may or may not have already paid off in the movies- depending on how you interpret it. In the comics, it is a reference to Nathaniel Essex, AKA Mr Sinister, an associate of Apocalypse from the 19th century. He's a villain who performs genetic experiments on the X-men and has links to the Summer/Grey family through experiments and cloning. Sinister never shows up in the recent films (but is a recurring character on the X-cellent Disney+ show, "X-men 97") OR it could be a reference to taking Wolverine's blood to create his clone- Laura or X-23 from the film, Logan.
Looking forward to your reaction for Deadpool 2 and the introduction to Cable! Many thanks as always!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this!! Quicksilver is such a phenomenal character. His scenes are always great!
I am still disappointed that we never had the classic Claremont story with the Danger Room and all the original members (Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Storm and Colossus).

Popular or unpopular opinion doesn't really matter. If this movie made you more of an xmen fan than you were previously then it's definitely a good thing.
I know ppl who have never read a single xmen comic and they became fans through the 90s animated series.
Others who just became fans through the movie franchise alone.
"Is this what you want from me?! Is this what I am?"
Genuinely some of the most tragic words of any comic character. No matter what he does, he's doomed to a life of pain and death.
Hey, Jacqueline! The biggest detriment to this film is that Apocalypse doesn't come across as terrifyingly formidable despite his insidious plan to enslave humanity telepathically by co-opting Charles' mind. Apocalypse always seems invincible in the comics and cartoon. His Darwinian philosophy isn't made explicit to those who know nothing about the character; he just seems like your typical megalomaniac.
The highlights are:
-- the Egyptian opening
-- the Magneto family tragedy
-- the introduction of Psylocke
-- the Quicksilver sequence
-- the Weapon X cameo
-- the battle in Cairo using powers in concert (a staple that's always handled well)
-- the psychic avatar duel
-- the new line-up with a bald Charles at the end
I loved how they made Logan look just like the Barry Windsor-Smith illustrations from the "Weapon X" comic. I also really liked the portrayals of Storm by Alexandra Shipp and Nightcrawler by Kodi Smit-McPhee. The guy who played Caliban was also great! I thought it was clever how the Archangel storyline was shoehorned into this movie with a different Angel character than the one from "X3". The duality of Charles and Erik continues to remain the affecting core of the franchise.
I hated that they started to go down the same Phoenix path they trod before in "X3" but, fortunately, they attempted to course-correct in the next movie by making the Phoenix Force something external to Jean.
Halle Berry was cast for her status as a high profile actress but was never thought appropriate for the role of Storm by fandom. Whether they even bothered with the accent to be comic accurate or she had difficulty affecting one is unknown. Alexandra Shipp has a British accent normally but affected a generic African accent for the role. The upbringing as a Cairo street urchin is true. She picks Xavier's pocket when he discovers her. She was never a villain in the comics.
Psylocke has a complex back story. Fangirl Olivia Munn insisted on the strappy Kwannon look when she inhabits a Japanese body but, initially, she is Betsy Braddock, the sister of Captain Britain aka Brian Braddock.
Wolverine's electronic attachments were probably sensors but were included on film to be comic accurate to Barry Windsor-Smith's illustrations for the "Weapon X" storyline.
This franchise wasn't made with a cohesive plan which is why there are so many continuity errors explained as variances in multiple timelines. No one knew the first film would be successful or as impactful on superhero cinema as it was. Once the train left the station, the filmmakers just kept laying down track and the audience went along with it.
Characters meet for the first time at different points in the two timelines.
Essex Corp. refers to Nathaniel Essex aka Mr. Sinister, an end-credit scene that pays off somewhat in "New Mutants" in the original timeline.
I have a soft spot for the X franchise and am willing to overlook its flaws.

18:52 just for random info, the bald guy depicted here is Caliban, who has the mutant power to sense and track other mutants, quite like cerebro. He is the same character which was portrayed in Logan too, who lived alongside Xavier and Wolverine.
20:20 "I liked the fluffy, feathery wings, better."
It's so odd the preferences people tend to have. I mean, it's a ubiquitous trait of Wolverine that he has adamantium claws that he usually keeps concealed in his forearms, that he can _extend_ when he wants to. They're not _naturally_ adamantium. They were originally _bone._ Adamantium was grafted _onto_ his skeleton by a program overseen by a man named Stryker.
In the movie _Logan,_ we discover that, with Logan's increasing age, his regenerative abilities are fading, and for that reason, his body is losing its ability to counteract the toxic effects of the adamantium and it's poisoning him.
But in _Days of Future Past,_ we see the life Logan had _before_ that graft, when his skeleton is entirely bone, including his claws. He extends the claws, sees they're bone, and is surprised.
When _adamantium_ claws extend from Wolverine's knuckles, it makes him badass. When _bone_ claws extend from Wolverine's knuckles, it makes him _cringe-inducing,_ even though this is his natural state and the addition of the adamantium ultimately ends up being a _death_ sentence.
Yes nightcrawler is her son in the movies. Yes quicksilver is magnetos kid in the movies. They keep the same stories
I don't know if you know this but the lasers that come out of Scott's eyes is energy that comes from a different dimension. Pretty cool 👍. I love the Quicksilver house scene and I love the scene where Eric is destroying Auschwitz With apocalypses monologue in the background. So epic!
My favorite parts of this movie are the Weapon X sequence which is right out of a fan favorite comic book mini-series of the same name and Olivia Munn in that comics accurate Psylock costume. She actually insisted that it be exactly like the one in the comics.

I wonder why she released the Logan video before this one if she watched Logan after X-men Apocalypse? To bad Disney didn't buy out Fox years earlier so we didn't get another crappy Dark Phoenix movie.

He is SO Much better and deserved a Thanos level introduction and story arc.
Love your marvel reaction, really hope you consider watching X-men '97
This was my second favorite X-men movie, after Days of Future Past. Logan is also one of my favorites, but since it's a solo film, I don't consider it one of the X-men movies, even though it's in that universe, otherwise it would be number one. Can't wait to see your reaction to that one!
20:27 In the comics, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (Wanda) are Magneto's kids.
Absolutely loving your reactions to these movies , thank you so much for being amazing.
Thank you so much!!! ❤️ I'm so glad you like my reactions!
50:48 That's then taking Logan's blood to create mutants which then leads to Laura from Logan.
I love this movie too!!! It connects so many things, weaves the timelines together, and delivers a coherent X-Men story. Some comic fans rage because it's not exactly what they read in the past, but even comics aren't like the comics; characters and stories are redone all the time there.
If you're pure of heart (like this lovely reactor) and can watch this story for what it is, it's great. I have too many favorite moments to list, so I'll just stick with "great swell of pity".
As probably the biggest X-Men fan on the planet i went through a lot of highs & lows in this film. Biggest high, yes Apocalypse is that powerful & more. Biggest low, movie relationship between most of these characters was not entirely accurately portrait from the comics. But that's Hollywood.
Kurt is so awesome he is absolutely one of my favorite characters but of course Wolverine is my favorite loved watching this with you!!!!
In the comics, they do do Days of Future Past more than once. Days of Future Present and Days of Future Yet to Come.
I think that when Jean lets loose is one of the most epic power flexes in cinema history. Still give me chills to watch.
That was a really cool scene!
one of the features with this movie i love is Storm, Archangel, Cylock and Magneto are the 4 horsemen of Appocolypse in reference to the Bible and the end of days another nod to Appocolypse thinking he is a god. its a little different in the original comics, but im glad they still had it here
Ruby contacts would make things incredibly difficult
great to see this movie again and have great reactions to go with it
Essex is a pseudonym for the villain Mr. Sinister, who enjoys experimenting on mutants to extract their mutation and add it to his own body. Or just for fun. Reportedly he was going to be the villain for the next movie, but my understanding is that was scrapped.
"Whatever your parents taught you. None of that matters!"
"I always knew it"
Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse) is THAT "Disney Dude" who's been in damn near EVERYTHING !!!
* STAR WARS (as Poe)
* MOON KNIGHT
* SPIDER-MAN (Animated Version- as Spider-Man 2099).
* DUNE (remake)
The guy is an OUTSTANDING actor... But, he stole my heart in
Moon Knight; especially as Steven Grant. 💖💖💖💖
This is UNIRONICALLY my favorite X-Men movie and Im psyched to see your reaction
18:51 In case you didn't notice, that mutant is the same one that appeared in Logan movie, taking care of Professor
I didn't recognize him since he was played by a different actor!
@@reactswithjax different actor, same character. "Caliban" 🙂
Another great reaction :D Im amazed how fast this channel have grown
