About to watch this just wanted to say I love this movie.
The way that we find Wolverine in this movie, being used as a weapon at a military compound, is the more comic book accurate version of Wolverine's origin. He was brainwashed and used as a weapon for a long period of time. It's one of the many reasons that the "Wolverine: Origins" movie was such a huge disappointment for comic book fans, because of how casually they skipped over this part of Wolverine's backstory.

The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years

I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology whereas I accept micro Evolution like speciation and adaptation but not macro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. Apocalypse was born around 5,000 years ago in Egypt. Apocalypse with millions of years of experience would be absolutely horrifying.
Not the least of reasons being that him being millions of years old rather than thousands of years old would mean that Apocalypse pre-dates Homo sapiens as a species by at least 600,000 years, making him a mutant of a earlier species of human.
He was a really great villain!

Doesn't matter when you have Phoenix on the team. In the movies, she's one of Marvel's most powerful characters - but in the comics, she's on the same level as Celestial beings such as Death, Infinity, Eternity, etc. In this movie, she barely understood what was happening with her powers or how they worked - and still completely obliterated Apocalypse with little effort.
For context, having Phoenix-Force Jean on the team is like having Michael Jordan in his prime on your pee-wee basketball team and playing against a bunch of 7-year olds. That was the fun situation that Claremont/Byrne created in the comics after Jean transformed into Phoenix in issue 100 of the original series. The team spent 36 issues running around fighting the same old chumps like the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, the Shadow King, and Juggernaut - then Jean would just casually flick a finger and the fight was over. And then, issue 137 happened...
Phoenix’s power level was too high in the books.
Being mentioned in conversations with the higher order beings is undeserved in my opinion.
Claremont excess that was rightfully crushed by Shooter.
Killing her off made one the best comics stories ever though.
In regards to the end credit scene, ESSEX CORP. Is the company of one Nathaniel Essex. In the comics, he was a human that experimented on mutants in the early to mid 1800s. All of this is explained in the X-Men 90s cartoon and X-Men97. Essex adopts the codename of Mr. Sinister!

Okay, the Essex Corp is owned by a mutant named Mr. Sinister. He acquires mutant abilities and tries to manipulate them.
Mister Sinister was a scientist in the late 1800s who was experimenting with gene therapy to save the life of his children. This is when he discovered and became obsessed with mutants. His real name is Nathaniel Essex.
And he's a threat to the X-Men on the same level as apocalypse.
And that literally went nowhere😂

Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology whereas I accept micro Evolution like speciation and adaptation but not macro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. A criminally underrated Xmen movie in my opinion. Apocalypse was a fantastic villan and Fassbender gave one of his best performances as Magneto in this one

I always liked this movie. Maybe because i never have actually read X-Men comics in my youth but only Spidey, FF, Avengers,, Iron Man, Hulk. So maybe there are the same reasons for X-Men readers compareable to that i still don't like how they treated Hank Pym in the MCU, especially of course in Age of Utron, since he created Ultron in the comics, and he also was in the comics the "First Avenger".
Whatever, for me its a great movie.

The thing I hate about this story is Magneto would ALWAYS have plenty of metal on him at all times. He’s a survivor. Guess you got to make them vulnerable to have a movie, though. It’s like Deadpool said, “That’s just lazy writing!”
Regarding the post credit scene and the next few movies, and without getting into spoilerly details... The Essex Corp tease ties into 2017's Logan, but also heavily ties into 2020's The New Mutants. I know you have been going in release order, but chronologically, New Mutants takes place before Logan. Also to consider, New Mutants was pushed back several times. Originally supposed tp be released on April 13, 2018, it eventually released on August 28, 2020, now after Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix. Having it release last, three movies after its relevant post-credit scene, and especially so long after Logan, sorta leaves the finale of the series in an awkward state. Having it be a non-starter for a new generation that got cut off thanks to the Disney merger.
My personal order would be as follows:
- Apocalypse
- The New Mutants
- Logan
- Deadpool 2
- Dark Phoenix
This only moves The New Mutants, but if you wanted a more timeline accurate order, you would instead put Logan last on the list, but then people would argue about Deadpool 2, and that in and of itself is another can of worms. So don't even try to worry about those sorta things yet.

Yes. In the comics, Mystique is Nightcrawler's mother and Azazel is his father. Mystique is also Rogue's foster mother in the comics.

In the comics, Angel's wings were cut off by the Marauders, were led by Mr. Sinister. Apocalypse then found him, warped his mind and gave him the metal wings; making Angel the 4th horseman of Apocalypse named Death.
If possible, you should try to get a hold of the comic series call The Age of Apocalypse. It is truly a horrifying account on what could happen if Apocalypse ruled the Earth.

Woah this was a bad movie. I don't think I've ever seen a movie that had more cataclysmic and world-ending stakes that I cared so little about! Well, that's not fair, Suicide Squad exists after all. Noisy, bloated, CGI nonsense.

The actor that p[lays Apocalypse is Oscar Issac, who played Moon Knight in MCU.
And in the comics, Apocalypse is absolutely massive, a lot closer to the size when he grew to massive size on the movie (45:16).Also his look in the comics is a LOT different to the movie and when we first gpt a look at Apocalypse, there was a massive backlash on the internet and people were making their own concept art, showing a much much more accurate Apocalypse than the movie.
Apocalypse changing Angel's wings is totally comic-accurate. Apocalypse also renamed him Archangel, like from the Bible. The X-men actually free Archangel from Apocalypse and he rejoins the X-men with those huge metal wings.
And Psylocke is also a member of the X-men team in the comics and never joins Apocalypse's band of Horsemen.
And yeh when this first came out, I remember thinking this was an excellent X-Men movie as well. Not sure how other people felt.
The Essex Corp thing doesn't really go anywhere, but technically it does in the New Mutant's movie. I like to think that the bit of Quicksilver saying "I'm your... I'm here for my family, too." was enough for Magneto to understand that He's Quicksilver's dad. Also, there are a few "connections" between this movie and two MCU projects that comes later.
If Disney didn't buy Fox, they would have definitely gone in that route.
Logan had the genetically engineered clones such as X-23 and the Alkali-Transigen was owned by Essex.
The New Mutants had the asylum that was owned by Essex, his logo was shown here and there, there were footages in the movie that was the same or similar to the one shown in Logan. Essex was also the one to message the Doctor to kill Dani Moonstar (the main character) in the movie.
I wonder why she released the Logan video before this one if she watched Logan after X-men Apocalypse? This movie to me was the beginning of the end for the X-men movies for me it just felt like a franchise that was it's last legs and needed to end and be rebooted later. To bad Disney didn't buy out Fox years earlier so we didn't get another crappy Dark Phoenix movie.
I think she mistakenly released Logan in RUclips first, instead of this Apocalypse installment, even though she had watched them in the order of publication date.

I've been waiting for this one. People crap on X:Apoc, but it's my favorite of the ones, with Magneto carrying a lot of that. Quicksilver in the exploding mansion set to Sweet Dreams is just such an amazing setpiece too.

The Essex corporation Easter egg may or may not have already paid off in the movies- depending on how you interpret it. In the comics, it is a reference to Nathaniel Essex, AKA Mr Sinister, an associate of Apocalypse from the 19th century. He's a villain who performs genetic experiments on the X-men and has links to the Summer/Grey family through experiments and cloning. Sinister never shows up in the recent films (but is a recurring character on the X-cellent Disney+ show, "X-men 97") OR it could be a reference to taking Wolverine's blood to create his clone- Laura or X-23 from the film, Logan.

Nathaniel Essex is a villain named Mr. Sinister, he's basicly Mutant Mad Scientist who experiments with DNA. He's most known for cloning Jean Grey as another woman, Madeline Pryor, because he's obsessed with making sure there's an offspring between the Summers and Grey's as he calculated it would be incredibly powerful.
Apocalypse isn’t evil at all in this. He truly believes he’s a God. Seriously, if You/Yourself managed to live for 5,500 years, plus the 100 lifetimes he refers to, before that betrayal in the opening scene, wouldn’t you believe you were, in fact, an immortal God too?

But it’s vomit inducing on its own.

In the comics, Apocalypse actually rips off Angel's wings, he doesn't transmute them.
Sorta, but no. Warren lost his wing in the Mutant Massacre when Harpoon stabbed through them. They were later amputated in X-Factor, without his consent, and he grew despondent. Apocalypse then altered his genetic material and gave him the metal wings. But, he eventually re-grew the feathered ones as a secondary mutation of being able to heal himself and others with his blood.

quicksilver is rated at 175mph by the creator of quicksilver, here he is moving faster than an explosion....so 15 000 meter per seconds and he makes it look like the 15km PER second is standing still.......I am no DC fan, but the flash is much faster and he would have needed to be the flash to do all that
The post credit scenes from this film has connection to LOGAN film the character who created X24 wolverine clone aka DR. PRICE is the same person who collected Logan blood sample in this film
I am still disappointed that we never had the classic Claremont story with the Danger Room and all the original members (Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Storm and Colossus).
If you live long enough, all of the comic-book movies will be rebooted, retooled, and reimagined in every way possible...so there's still hope!

Jean and wonda are the tow most powerful beings in marvel mcu
Its interesting that they have similarities. The movies don't go into this but in the source material (the comics), Jean Grey becomes possessed by the cosmic entity the Phoenix. Jean Grey, herself was a powerful mutant, but the Phoenix entity amplified her power. Wanda was a powerful mutant (or altered human) but the Darkhold gave her powers from an ancient, malevolent entity known as Chthon. Chthon was considered an elder god and he created the Darkhold.
This Wolverine is the closest to his origin story I remember seeing first in the 90s animated X-men series.
Continuity little skewed (Caliban, Scott, Logan, Storm, Maximofs, etc.) but make for a good story/movie (but not without flaws, as occurs for every adaptation) and different timeline happenings can be so creative, anything can happen! Callbacks are fun! ( Logan, Jedi,). This series of movies (not a spoiler now but would have been before) take place in the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

Though the latter crossed over to both X-Men and Avengers! Jax, if you enjoy this movie and the idea of a mutant acquiring and growing their mutant abilities, you should take a look at the 2007 -2010 tv show "Heroes". Won't spoil it but a great concept, good show for 4 years. There was a 1 year continuation called "Heroes-Reborn" which was a good follow-up, but a bit MEH.
I didn't like Jean Grey in this movie. Idk if it was the way Sophie was playing her or the script for her character was the problem, but I was underwhelmed and annoyed with her.
Days of Future's Past did a lot of fixing the bad continuity of the previous movies, only for the last two with young Jean to mess it up again.
In this movie, we see that Jean already had the Phoenix in her all along, which is also how Charles explained her duality in Xmen 3.
The next movie Dark Phoenix ruins that continuity.
I didn't know until the Disney + series, Moon Knight, came out that the lead actor Arthur Isaac, already played a prominent Egyptian Marvel character of Apocalypse in this movie.
The only thing I recalled seeing him in prior to Moon Knight was in the Star Wars Sequels as the great pilot.
I didn't care for Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique at all.
Once again they did the character Storm wrong in the franchise. She was never this weak of power as they made her seem. She was always an Omega level mutant. She didn't need an upgrade from Apocalypse.
I know in the comics she was brainwashed to be one of his 4 horsemen, but her power was her own.
She has been referred to as both a Goddess from her home village, and a Weather Witch. She comes from a royal line of powerful witches.
If she wanted to, she could destroy other planets, while not even being on them. That's how far her omega level powers reach.
Fun fact about Stan Lee's cameo. The woman he's holding was his real wife.
After she passed, she was memorialized and immortalized forever when they added her name on the blipped wall of people, right under Scott Lang's in Avengers Endgame.
Evan Peters was the best part of this movie, for me. He naturally steals each scene he's in. Even the "We don't know, bro!" line. Hilarious.
Poor Erik lost so much within his life time, that you can understand his anger at the world.
Both he and Wanda have the some of the biggest tragic back stories. And like her father, her powers match the gravity of her trauma.
Although I love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, I feel the writers that chose to focus on mostly his journey and not equally on others did a disservice to the other characters.
His presence in the franchise after Days of Future's Past was pretty much just keeping an old familiar face around for people to go "Hey...it's him" type cameo. We already got Stan had Stan for that.
But that's why I loved the animated series they just came out with...X-Men '97. They focused on other characters too.

I don't recall exactly how much people liked it except that it most certainly wasn't among the favorite x-men. For me, it was my favorite because Apocalypse has always been my favorite x-men villain.
As for profitability...
It had a production budget of 178 million dollars and brought in 542.5 million worldwide. So it likely made a profit of at least 100 million. FYI.. the rule of thumb is that you take the production budget and multiply that by 2.25 or up to 2.5, and that's they need to break even (because the theatres get their cut...which averages out to near half...and other costs not factored in)

Essex Corp is a...fairly weak connection to Deadpool 2 and The New Mutants. In both the name is briefly used (but you could miss the references very easily if you aren't looking for them). Essex SHOULD be the lead in to the next wave of Mutant movies where Mr. Sinister is supposed to be the key bad guy...Mr. Sinister's real name is Dr. Nathaniel Essex.
I want a Psylocke centered trilogy. With all the Mary Sue crap movies she’d be great.

Нет после конца Фильма его где денка нашли продолжение в Фильме Логан там с этого Дэенка создали Клона Логана полного психа и Логан помер бред бреда Тёмный Феникс эта сюжет идёт после Апокалипсиса спустя 10 Лет где то и Тёмный Феникс эта самая глупая часть их всех просто на ровне с 3 Фильмом просто и всё Жаль что не Браен сингер делал последний Фильм про Людей Икс он хотел по другому закончить всё эта но не дали видать.

Or Magneto holding the infinty gauntlet beeing made of metal? i would laugh so hard. there is a clip magneto vs everyone - captain america check. Iron Man Check. Thor Check :) it's impossible. After The Wolverine, First Class, and Days of Future Past which were all excellent... I thought it was safe to bring a date to this movie who wasn't a fan of comic book movies. I convinced her that it would probably be good and that she ought to give it a chance. I spent the entire rest of the night apologizing... I'll never understand how they managed to make literally *everything* about this movie *SO* much worse than the few that preceded it, in spite of having many of the same people working on the film. The script, the dialogue, the acting, the makeup, the costumes, the visual FX, the pacing, the editing... even the f'ing color saturation... wtf is UP with that? It looks like a cartoon everything is so bright and oversaturated. How and why would they do that?? How did they take one of the most powerful and imposing villains from all of X-Men lore and turn him into cheap knockoff Ivan Ooze? If Ivan Ooze wants to get rid of humanity and has control over all the world's nuclear arsenals, wtf would he not use them to do just that? How does Hugh Jackman's Wolverine go so fully from badass to cringe-laugh-inducing joke (and did we forget that he was taken not by Stryker but by Mystique at the end of DoFP)? The ages of everyone are all wrong. Multiple new giant continuity and timeline errors. What a complete trainwreck of a movie...
and just to nitpick for a second...oh, and, of course, they had to try (and fail) to one-up themselves by redoing Quicksilver's show-stealing scene from DoFP, but, of course, they have to ignore all the rules they established in the previous film while doing it... if he can give someone whiplash by moving them in a straight line down a hall really fast, then, I'm sorry, if he's going to launch people out of windows much much faster than the speed of an ongoing explosion... he just killed every single one of those people... it's not like getting touched by fire is what kills you when you're next to a grenade... it's the rapid acceleration from getting hit by the blast and what it does to your internal organs. So, accelerating someone even FASTER than that? Yeah... you just turned their insides into paste, broke every bone in their body, and they're dead now. Thanks a lot Quicksilver.
This movie did not do Apocalypse justice AT ALL. In the comics, he is magnitudes levels more powerful. He's immortal, enhanced by Celestial technology that is beyond magic levels. He has all the standard super strength, speed, can change his body into any shape he wants, enlarge or shrink himself. He has telepathic abilities that are second only to Jean Grey at her absolute peak. He can enhance the powers of ANY mutant to god-tier levels. He can literally give himself just about ANY power he can imagine. He's effectively unbeatable in any conventional way. In any of the comics, if the same combination of mutants tried that fight with Apocalypse, they'd all get crushed. He's about on par with Thanos, maybe a bit below (comics Thanos is NOT the same as MCU Thanos). What we got in this movie was really disappointing.
This movie is actually quite good as a standalone X-Men movie. But I don’t know 🤷🏻 why it was not popular amongst the X-Men franchise. Not many people liked it, talked about it or mentioned it. You don’t heard anything about Apocalypse movie all these years. I wonder 💭 why🤔

You are not afraid of being treated as a pariah, shunned by society as a whole, and looked upon with scorn as you slink from dark corner to dark corner praying not to make eye contact with anyone in your path as even Lamby gazes at you with confusion and bewilderment. Jax at 35 53, in the comic books , there is a comic book called Legion, they made a tv show about it on FX tv channel, he goes crazy in that comic book and uses his powers to go back in time , and he kills his father, so his father can never form the Xmen, and an alternate dimension arises, where the Xmen were never around to stop En Sabah Nur, and they shut down all comics that year from marvel comics and only made a couple set in this new dimension, where he ruled supreme over all mutants, that comic book run for a whole year at marvel comics was called, THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE
