- Leaders of the NATO military alliance have declared that Russia is a direct threat to their security.
They have said that Ukraine can count on NATO support for “as long as it takes”.
The statements came at a summit meeting of leaders of the alliance in Madrid.
It marks a toughening of NATO's stance following Russian’s invasion of Ukraine.
NATO has also agreed to accept Sweden and Finland’s application to join the alliance’s current 30 member nations.
The United States has committed to send more military forces to Europe. President Biden said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine had “shattered the peace” that previously existed in Europe.

Well, at the St. Petersburg ecomonic forum, Putin directly said that all of the former Soviet countries are "historic Russian. And it's clear he has been laying the groundwork in Romania and Kaliningrad to push further west once Ukraine fell. The nonsense about "don't make him mad or it'll be ww3" is stupid. We already tried appeasement, at least three times with three other invasions, and he still invaded. It doesn't work with him. The promise of obliteration does.

The map is incorrect, Iceland is also a member (Greenland is technically also a member, as it is an overseas territory of Denmark).
Those two territories have almost full autonomy (Iceland having most Autonomy) but they are defended by the Danish Military.

Army is shrinking because you don’t need personal in future warfare. If a drone or a remote controlled light armoured vehicle can do the same damage with 5x less personnel, then it’s better to go for automation
Drones can't hold the ground my dude. Military analysts have realized through the war in Ukraine that infantry as well as special operations are just as necessary as they always were.
Armies are shrinking but drones are only a small percent from the real reason. Economically you don’t need millions upon millions of men like you had in previous wars when you have better ways of killing in many ways. Guided munitions, cluster munitions, etc. Why waste money on too much personnel when you only have to spend on a smaller amount of personnel that are better trained?

When you lose a soldier, you’ve lost a family member, a tax payer, a labourer, a father, a brother etc. the economic loss associated with losing someone is far more than the loss of a drone being shot down.

Russia's using about 15-20% of their total active armed forces(depending on estimates), plus separatist forces, and is giving those separatist forces outdated equipment, and leaving their own dead to rot.
At this point NATO should go into UKRAINE and not let the situation worsen. Putin can't take on a force of such size. Set a date for all Russian troops to be out and if not by then, force them across back into their own country. Why wait and watch more innocent civilian Ukrainians die?

Errr.. Yeah... Didn't we used to have around 120,000 troops in BAOR for many years (from 1945)?... Errr didn't we take the time to think about the outcome of returning these troops to the UK (Mr Putin must have been rubbing his hands)?.. Err haven't we been just kicking through the leaves for the last 30 years living in a fools paradise thinking that we can all be friends?.. Wake up, smell the coffee..Things have escalated real quick. By the way, UK had better improve terms and conditions if they even think for one minute that they will be able to recruit and retain soldiers. The Armed Forces pension which is offered to our service people these days is a far cry from being what it used to be. We are all trained to help others and go do that for a year or two after we finish school.
But then have a % of those humanitarian force also trained in military branches, so you always have that deterrent but it's also not the main purpose of the service.
