I met Terence Stamp him in Paris(Eurostar, arrival from London) end of 2008,he's an adorable man, very accessible, not bigheaded at all.He was very friendly and wrote me a very nice note as an autograph(even played on words by signing as Bernadette lol).I'm keeping a lovely memory of Mr Stamp:-)
this movie did win for best costume design, they bought alot of the props at Kmart (b/c someone had a relative who worked there so they got a discount) the people that won ( a man & woman) she went to the awards show in a dress she made out of American Express gold cards, and he wore a skirt!! Great movie, great dialogue,Hugo Weaving was amazing!
There are three similar-ish films I can recommend: 1. To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar; 2. The Birdcage (original version in French but remake is also good); 3. Some Like It Hot
So Agree! He was transformative and honest of his character. Classy and heartfelt. Oscar always gets it wrong. He was at least acknowledged by the Golden Globes that year :)!
My only regret in life is not watching this movie when it first came out in movie theaters. I just love everything about this picture; acting, theme, costumes, music, score, directing, casting, everything!!!!!!!
Awesome movie which deserves an Oscar indeed. So beautifully performed, so very classy. Shows us how sometimes life can be sad and sometimes it can be joyful. A movie really "ahead of its time" considering most gay actors, musicians etc have to stay in the closet specially in the US. Thank God it is a little different in Europe and Australia, but not nearly liberated enough,
The way I interpret this scene is this. The audience represents the small minded oppressed, scared, and traditional looking for the "safe" entertainment We, the audience looking at the film, are cheering for these characters. They are Australia. They are gay. They are represent Australia (and perhaps all nations) by showing us the history.... the glamour, the desert, the opera house. Sadly, the powerful small minded people in control dont want comfort
I love this film, ever since it got out, and enjoy so many things represented in it, but I'm guessing you're just one step above many like me, 'cause you're probably dreaming of finding a true male love one day, right? :) :))
truly remarkable performance by Stamp - acting of the highest order. of course he wouldn't be nominated for an Oscar...all those Hollywood queens quaking in the closet.
One of the all time greatest movies that everyone can enjoy. Most definately the best Australian movie. I love 3:37. Makes me laugh really hard. And also when Ralphs emu head is bobbing backwards and forwards as she moves to the beat.
conatcha sometimes it sounds like "my two lips can't describe it.... or nothingness can't describe it... or moistured lips can't describe it... or my thin lips can't describe it... I know there is something in there lolol. thanks anyway
Terence Stamp is always my favorite cockney actor besides Michael Caine. I heard Alfie was his role but it was played by Mr.Caine finally. anyway those two are really brilliant actors.
I have no clue why they cast Terrence Stamp??? The entire movie Terrence always seemed like he was mad after losing a bet and now he needs to act like a Drag Queen. And in the "Finally" performance he is the ugliest Drag Queen I have ever seen and the entire performance he making a sour pus angry face. This was the first and last time I saw a Queen upset because all eyes were on her. But I still love this movie. 🌈 👸❤💚💙
I've been a huge Guy Pearce fan for many years, and this is one of my favourite films.
Guy looks gorgeous in drag lol
I went for terence Stamp myself...x
Pearce's lip syncing was flawless.
He was a muscle queen long before Kameron Michaels.
HANDS OFF! MINE!! x
If I can beat Plain Jane SuperBrain....!

This movie brings out plenty of the golden days way back from the 90’s before millennium. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I love Hugo Weaving in anything he does.
Guy Pearce is incredible
The creativity here was SPECTACULAR. The outfits are perfect.
"Oh, shut your face, Felicia. At least I don't look like someone's tried to open a can of beans with my face!"

"Oh get back in your kennels, both of you"
hahaaaa
Oh yes you do honey.

Wau thank you for so informing subtitles. Did not know before that all these different show scenes were Australian references. I am a Finn myself.
I would kill to see a drag show like this. Like, murder.
I know I'm 8yrs late on this comment, but go to any midnight showing of this movie in a major city. It's a god-damned wild experience

Most folks aren't aware that Mr. Smith and General Zod were in such a movie.
Three fucking Oscars. Fuck it: all of the Oscars.

The costume designer must have been told "Do whatever you want!!" and her or she did!
iii love iiit! XD
So, General Zod, The Mandarin and Red Skull are transvestites. Great.
I know, right!? :D
Stamp is robbed of Oscar.
ПичвајзПикчерс Drag queens*
@@picvajzpikcers because the Oscars had transphobia
@@michaelharris7820 nowadays they kinda pulled too hard to the opposite side.

Maria Henriquez he's old and tired of the trans routine. Have you actually seen the movie? Bernadette is easily the best part
Somebody should've slipped something into Terrence Stamp's tea. He looks like he's in pain.
😂🤣
0:15 haha
