Liam, you say you love how emotionless Terrence is but then comment on his "nonchalant facial expressions". This is acting brilliance....Just sayin',,,,,
He's only been in about a million movies. Some good, some bad. He was one of the top actors at the forefront of British cinema in the 60s that ushered in realism. He'll never live down things like playing Zod, but he's done better work before and since but you got to pay the bills too. A little rumor I heard about this flick was that he hated being dressed up as a woman and refused to have mirrors around except when he was in makeup. Don't know the veracity of it but heard it years ago.
When I came out in 1992 this movie came out the following year...I just remembered be inspired and so happy to be out...my inner woman in me was dying to grab a big o swan's head and run outside to pride....Ride on Priscilla you were trully one of my callings
Hello mike856ms, thank you for the information. I am glad to know the costumes got an Oscar for Best Costume Design. I looked it up at Wikipedia and I did read that it also got a BAFTA for best Design and Best Make up/hair. You can look it up, they were nominated for Best Actor, Screenplay, Cinematography and Production. How about that? There were a lot more nomination of all kind of awards and I am really happy with that, for it was one of sthe most impressive and touching movies I have ever seen....
my FAVORITE movie of all time, ever!! watched the movie for 3 times alone when I'm 16yo. and from that time until now, Slowly started my career as a Drag Queen... Hahahaha...
4 costume changes, each person lip syncing a section, glowing wigs, props, spot on lip syncing as well, and having to change makeup as well?! That crowd does not understand how much effort this performance was.
Harley_Lotus_Flower 23 But Hollywood did for the Oscars that year and won the Oscar for best costume design and putting Australia on the map with those costumes, best original costumes to represent the land "downunda" :)
A partir desse filme aprendi a respeitar a escolha e a diferença de cada um, desde 96 qdo o vi pela primeira vez e acho q ninguém deve ter medo do desconhecido. Viva a vida é seja feliz com sua escolha!
i wish we talked more about how AMAZING Guy Pearce looks, not only in the emu outfit, but also in the last outfit of the song... i've watched this video and the whole movie more times than I can count, so incredible and uplifting and always puts a smile on my face!!!
22 years, still a great film, and this scene is still a show-stopper.
Cannot agree more - have watched this film dozens of time and I still laugh and cry and cannot get enough of it.
I've seen it many times too. One of my favorites.
He Absolutely did this film for kicks and giggles. I would imagine they had a hoot making this film.
I always preferred the end scene with Mama Mia; "See ya Ralph"!
My uncle was the age my younger brother is now
Why is Guy Pierce a gorgeous as man and woman? Life is unfair,. Thanks Australia.
I've always hated how scattered the applause was.
That performance deserved a standing ovation.
Thomas Fyrehart lol Yeah, true that.
HBB
That was intentional so his son could get his voice across, and then comes the comedy bit.
Legion Ivory yes it did nothing short of a standing ovation
Y
I love how emotionless Terence stamp is in this movie xD The nonchalant facial expressions are just perfect.
Liam, you say you love how emotionless Terrence is but then comment on his "nonchalant facial expressions". This is acting brilliance....Just sayin',,,,,
I think the word your looking for is stoic or stern
so hilarious XD
That's General Zod, to you!
He deserved an Oscar Nomination.
Guy Pearce with metallic blue lipstick... so hot.
KBMusic he'd certainly can rock that shade!
KBMusic ichiban lipstick for men
KBMusic I'm so confused 🤕😍
Penny Battle hahahahahaha
You can tell he was having a ball
Guy Pearce- shantay you stay.
Yasss
This!
Guy Pearce is the most excellent lip-syncing drag queen!
Guy Pearce lip syncing for the gods
He is giving EVERYTHING he's got!
It’s the best I’ve ever seen
That's what I call actors commitment ... am not sure if it was intentional but through out the story line he look more authentic .
Guy Pearce KILLED that lip sync.
This is such a classic! I remember feeling fascinated as a kid when I watched it! Still love it!
kismetbnd me too!
3:16 THIS is Camp. The MET gala could never
Whenever I feel down I come back to this scene (and this movie too tbh) SUCH a classic! 💗💗💗🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Guy Pearce hot in every level!
Guy Pearce is the best. His performance in this movie is unreal, way better than the two others
Well deserved Oscar for Best Costume Design
MrPedante ye-zzzzzzz
Definitely another whole character.
How they got Terence Stamp, one of the most masculine actors to take the part of Bernadette was a miracle and revelation!
Embrace the challenge :-)
(Moving out from comfort-zone)
He said he was so sick of hard-man/villain roles that he was considering quitting acting.
And to think the part was offered to Sam Neill first!
@@jimsmith1856 Terence Stamp was 56 years old when the movie was released
@@Ihatedayslikethis1 Id love to have seen sam neills Bernadette
They FINALLY (lol) lipsynched this song on RPDR!
Chucho E. Quintero this is much better than RPDR XD no T.
it's a fucking classic.
Chucho E. Quintero but it was a remix! I was so sad!
Chucho E. Quintero I do think the best lipsynch was performed by Hugo Weaving, he might not be feeling the dance but what about the 'vocals'?
F. A. A. Espejel Hugo was all the way out of his comfort zone. Mass quantities of beer consumed.
I really want to see a drag queen doing Jessica Rabbit.
man, that audience reminds me of my youtube views...
With the combined might of Agent Smith, Aldrich Killian, and General Zod, no heroes could possibly stop them!
+Ian G rotfl
Ian G I've never seen this film is it good c.c penerstone bought me here
More like the combined power of Alexander Hartigan, Red Skull, and manservant Ramsley.
Steven Currier yes, Priscilla is a wonderful film. As are To Wong Fu, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Across the Universe, and so many others...
Mr. Anderson....
I had no idea that the same actor who played General Zod in Superman is the same one who played Bernadette! That's fantastic!!!
He's only been in about a million movies. Some good, some bad. He was one of the top actors at the forefront of British cinema in the 60s that ushered in realism. Its like he's an actor or something
I'm still getting over Hugo Weaving aka. Agent Smith/V/Elrond/Megatron/Red Skull, in drag.
That ostritch realness gives me life every single time
Emu actually
I'm no a antipodean but I felt slightly offended. Ostriches? OSTRICHES?! EMU, darling! EMU!
When I came out in 1992 this movie came out the following year...I just remembered be inspired and so happy to be out...my inner woman in me was dying to grab a big o swan's head and run outside to pride....Ride on Priscilla you were trully one of my callings
I discovered this movie and Lady Gaga in the same night on the Logo Channel, the morning after Christmas 2008 at like 1am. Both are treasures!
Just a moment ago, I watched this movie for the first time. One word: BEAUTIFUL. A piece of art !!. I like it !! =)
Beautiful movie, sometimes touching, sometimes hilarious and really great characters. I just loved it.
Btw, I love the costumes, they are really fantastic......
DirkjeA FYI I'm case you didn't know, this film won the Oscar award for costuming.
Hello mike856ms, thank you for the information. I am glad to know the costumes got an Oscar for Best Costume Design. With such a human message. I love this film.
It will never get old.
This movie was so way ahead of its time. I wish they'd make another one with a similar concept.
LOVE GUY PIERCE IN THIS... HE REALLY GOT INTO THE ROLE!!!
This movie still gives me life.
One of the best Australian movies ever
Huge Weaving is better than half of the girls on Drag Race.
Huge Weaving sounds like the name of a drag queen wig business
Who would say that agent smith got it in him?
@@jaidern the Oracle would. The Architect is above reacting to anything Agent Smith does. Even if it's fabulous.
Wow, it’s almost like this was made with a movie budget and most of the girls on drag race buy their stuff with their own money
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage... Huge Weaving!
Guy is so hot, I want him to be my girlfriend lol
Classic. Thank You.
Hugo Weaving is so awesome in this movie. I can't believe he is the same guy that is in The Matrix.
Duh
Not to mention as lord elrond
AND V FOR VENDETTA
wish the drag shows at my local gay bars where anywhere near this standard
Unfortunately that would require them to magically change costumes on the middle of the stage in an instant.
drewabel looking cute
what agent smith does part time in the matrix...
Hahaha I’m here because of the matrix but yeh love this movie
This is the best lip-sync ever! Rupauls Drag Race pales in comparison
HBB san Diego... if memory serves
Yea and these guys arnt even true drag queens, love it!!
experimentalactor their all brilliant Aussie actors
experimentalactor you should watch the movie 🍿 on DVD
my FAVORITE movie of all time, ever!! watched the movie for 3 times alone when I'm 16yo. and from that time until now, Slowly started my career as a Drag Queen... Hahahaha...

I live for those emu headpieces and the frilled neck lizard costumes
Legendary bitches, Fucking legendary.
Always loved this song,CeCe is from Arizona...ok let's it get it together ladies... ;)
I've just noticed for the first time that "girls" recreate the silhouette of the iconic Sydney opera house with their dresses at 3:51. So cool!
The costumes are just as elaborate and amazing in the musical
Thank you for that. I've loved this 86 times, and never noticed that.
I screamed when I realized it was the Opera House. That alone sold the performance for me!
I caught that the 1st time I saw the movie. Everything about it was so clever and fresh.
@@oltedders me too
1:26 I love Nicole Paige Brooks

It takes time, yet this movie is way too brilliant!
One of my favorite movies!
Nina B'onina brought me here
oands lima that's just sad henny........
I mean, how is it? Nina had a great Lip Sync featuring this version of the song and might bring this person further into Drag Culture.
Omg the gatekeeping. Everyone starts somewhere!
PURE MAGIC....
One of my favorite movies of all times
And there comes a time when Lord Elrond faints from a faint applause...
4 costume changes, each person lip syncing a section, glowing wigs, props, spot on lip syncing as well, and having to change makeup as well?! That crowd does not understand how much effort this performance was.

Damn the audience dry as hell!
The movie.... so far ahead of its time........
They play this song at my work (it comes up every 7hrs or so) and this scene is the only thing I think of. I love it. ^_^
Damn, Guy Pearce. The best of being a man and a drag queen.
Guy Pearce for the win...
this is SO MUCH BETTER THan the original version.... I LOVE THE DRAGS INTO!
Timeless !!!!
Go -Terrence Stamp - (who I hated as supermans nemisis) but is fabulous in this.
Ray Lehto absolutely agree
The lizard costume is a good costume for miss universe Australia 🇦🇺 2019!!!!
I ain’t gay but Guy Pearce...wow, he’s gorgeous in this!
I have always loved his strong facial features. Grrrr....
Indeed. Sexy guy
Esta película es una de mis favoritas en el mundo
This movie blew me away 25 years ago and still does. And Guy Pearce almost made me gay........
One of my favorite movies -- and my favorite production number.
They were serving LOOKS!! Ugh this movie is so nostalgic for me! The production was amazing!
Guy Pearce is a beautiful woman. He should've been in drag in the Alien movies.
This scene is everything!
I never get tired of this movie! I've see it so many times. I always danced to this song as a kid!
Hugo as the lizard😁😁😁
Shantay y'all stay!!
Utterly stunning in every possible way.
Hugo Weaving really reminds me of Tim Curry in this scene.
I love you Guy Pearce
