Dan you are brilliant. My no 1 reason why I am trapped in beginner’s hell is that I am not structured. I have so many ideas but I am not structured. And your video let me know that I’m not hopeless . There is a way to make it in this creator economy.

The thing that is keeping me in beginner's hell is not applying a structure to my content.
I didn't have the distinctions to even understand what to look for. I have just started and I'm just know feeling confident in looking at my content with an analytical view. Last four months I have been doubling down in making content, not caring much for form and style.
Also not having a clear mind on who I am doing this for, I keep switching.
I have decided to tackle this as a profession to do what I love to do and open new horizons for me. This decision is what I needed to get more serious and gain clarity of mind.
Thank you for the amazing class on escaping beginner's hell.

Hi Dan! I believe what makes me stay in beginner hell is constantly trying to emulate what bigger players are doing, instead of doing what is on my level... and my biggest takeaway is not trusting that just the quality content will increase the audience, but I also have to network and get other key folks to share what I produced. Thanks for the masterclass! I'm also a fan of your book... cheers

This is absolutely amazing. It’s so easy to devalue practical knowledge because we are unconsciously and secretly seeking a magical strategy.
But, these strats stacked gives me a very structured window (that I’ve been lacking) to create from.
My struggle has been on structure. I’m an off-the-curd passionate and engaging speaker, but I lack a structural support both in my tweets and my RUclips videos.
I’ll be watching this again tomorrow and the next day fully. I’ve learned it takes my brain 3 times of viewing and dissecting something to pickup on the biggest value given in other’s information. It’s like I go from beginner, then intermediate, then to advanced (metaphorically speaking) and absorb new levels of content acquirement that I would have never gotten by watching once. Thanks, Dan! A masterclass!

Love it, Dan! ❤ I was stuck in beginner hell a long time, because I was overthinking too much: Personal brand vs. sellable business, niche down vs. just get started, building content vs. building products, etc. As a senior full stack web developer, I started a niche brand, but I also want to build SaaS products. I'll now start building in public and prioritize my personal brand. I also have the feeling of more authenticity this way.

Ok, so this may be one of the most helpful videos to date for ME. First, 10 big accounts and the reply steps. Duh. I feel like a total dipsh*t because I have been doing it wrong for months now. First thank you.
Second thank you- as much as I think that my content is good, apparently if i have 25 followers, it can't be as good as i think it is. This is not tough for me to take because I am used to rejection. And not in a "feel sorry for me" way, just as a person who has auditioned for almost 40 years and rejection is usually not personal in that life. Does it feel like it? Absolutely. But, obviously I need to change something. Maybe everything.
Third and final thank you. Thank you for your brutal honesty. It keeps me going and I appreciate it more than you know. Looking forward to more!

I'm slowly learning that i can monetize these hobbies more and more. From writing a sports newsletter or setting up a business where i photograph hotels and hostels as a service. Your content is slowly giving me the belief that i could make a one person business out of my passions. Excited to see the next video on building a product and how it can expand my beliefs further.

Great video, thanks Dan. To answer your question, a sticky point for me is overthinking video ideas/ scripts and pushing past a few videos that dont perform as well. I noticed the videos on which I spend more time are ones that tend to perform poorer. I adopted your writing framework last year, in fact, I have it at the start of every script, I'm working to reduce the stress around overthinking and its helping me alot in my production and narrowing down my nice which is personal finance + life in early retirement. Thanks a lot 💗

The content always gets me back in focus. The big lesson I’m getting here is to experiment and explore. In this experience, be analytical and see what works. Following the guidance given will serve as a path in the void. I struggle with consistency personally. I find that I create in bursts 1 day on, 3 days off. It sucks because I know it takes consistency. The bright side to this is that there’s a pain there and a problem to solve. Gotta figure this shit out😅.

10:24 This conversation about repetition being necessary is a good one. You need repetition to succeed and then even more repetition to sustain this success in the long term. Telling one story in 100 different ways is more valuable than telling 100 new stories.

My sticking point is I have never tried to structure how I speak, ever! I would just speak freely. Now I am overly focused on trying to be structured and I have lost my voice because it doesn't feel natural. My only solice and hope has come this week after watching your podcast with the Stan guys and one of them mentioned this Emma Chamberlain girl (I had
never heard of her.) I checked her out and was bowled over by the sheer numbers of followers she has. She's given me a feeling of freedom that there is space for people on you tube who are less naturally structured and that I am not utterly failing by doing something more casual until I can get over the stress of trying to be more articulate with my thoughts when the flow of my thoughts are being fully blocked by these bullshit notions of failure because doing what everyone else is doing is not working for me at the moment because I have never had to discipline myself to speak in real time. I appreciate this Emma Chamberlain girl because there's freedom in her videos which I think I need to have for a long period before I can progress to feeling comfortable with structure because it does not come naturally for me. FAILURE! 😆

I’m at 330 subscribers. Part of me feels like that’s so low. But a quick reframe and I realize that this is AMAZING.
Imagine someone you know watching one of your videos, all the way through. Imagine how proud you’d feel. Then, imagine 330 people doing the same thing.

I think I understand what you feel. I'm not really pursuing a music career, but I tried playing bass guitar once and quit. I SUCKED more than words could describe, that's how I felt before I dropped it.
I am currently learning copywriting with a bit of design but
      Here's what I would do:
→ Try sharing your story, when I think about storytelling sometimes I overcomplicate things. Just be simple with it. You can write something like ''3 Things I Did To Write My First Song". Share the problems you faced, and how you tackled them, get people interested, and build an audience.
→ Teach a simple process of how you write music to the audience you've built, you can sell this as a service or course and maybe even share a few of your songs too.
→ You don't just do music you do everything. Basically, you shouldn't only focus on your music, several other things are required if you want to make a living doing what you love 30:14. Dan Koe explains this better than I can in The One-Person Business Playlist.
This is what I do if I were in your shoes. Hopefully, it gave you some clarity on what to do next.
By the way, I still love bass guitar, I just don't play; I enjoy listening to people play good music.

I’ve ran a town Facebook page for over a decade. It was pretty much a monthly cycle where posts would just get average attention and then it would spike and drop off again. Was interesting to observe. I’ve only more recently stopped paying attention to it. So it’s good to get the reminder that that is what happens. 13:22

I guess the one thing keeping me in the beginner hell is not knowing what value I'm meant to create.
I've tried some stuff but it doesn't seem to work.
I also have a lot of emotional blockages... they keep me from opening up beyond a certain point.
There may be more things, but this is what comes to mind for now.
Thanks for the value though... this video was really helpful.

Yes, can relate. Super refreshing, I love that he doesn't waste time, just starts. I always need to pause his videos to make notes.😊

As someone on the border between beginner hell and intermediate heaven, this video could not come at a better time. Trust me, everything Dan is saying here is true. I am living through it right now.

What has kept me in beginner hell is not knowing any better, trapped within the thought that my creativity is jus around my specialty, that is music, but now I've been seing results of learning that I can be a creative business entrepeneur, teacher, and even product designer!
