The first step to success is figuring out your goals and risk tolerance - either on your own or with the help of a financial advisor. If you can get the facts about savings and investing with a well detailed plan, you should be able to gain financial security over the years and enjoy the benefits of managing your income.

Bro, U have no idea how much clarity this video has just given me as an all over the place content creator. First in foremost, I'm a hiphop artist at heart, but also a published fiction author and I love personal development. My purpose is to inspire young men who come from poverty to become the best version of themselves.
However the niche down method insist that I can only realize my purpose through one path; which kind of distorts the creativity. So I've been really struggling with choosing a specific path, today because of you, I'll just do what feels right to me in any given moment.

I'm in the self-improvement 'niche' and I live that life. That means I'm regularly doing and trying new things and approaches. I want to be multi skilled and competent in many areas. The problems with documenting this approach is the algorithm and audience can't grasp what I'm fully about...yet! I believe this approach is difficult getting off the ground but will pay off in the long run. Hopefully I'm right!

In the youtube space we’d call these “variety channels”. They always grow slower than niche specific ones.

This approach is like throwing spaghetti on the wall and see what sticks. If you have the wall (audience) large enough or plentiful of spaghetti (content), then it might work out someday.
A more strategic approach is to imitate and sprinkle in some of your own style. RUclips algorithm tends to favour videos that are watched for the longest time, so by copying the style of these videos (thumbnails, keywords, topic, trend, etc.), RUclips is more likely going to show your video in front page.
In the beginning, you might create videos that is subpar to your vision or ideal. But that's the only way to gain more audience if you're building on RUclips alone.
Unless you found an existing community with a problem to your solution on other platform and there's no other competition, which is essentially a niche.

Always a pleasure. I like the new evolution of your set up, the lighting is better and looks like you have more natural light coming in. Which in turn, takes away the impression of hiding away . ( which had its place as well with your brand)

Great rundown and recap. The new video setup is fine, feels a little more run-n-gun than your previous setups, but I’m way more focused on what you’re saying than the camera angles you choose.

This is a pretty solid advice! As a beginner I often question the idea of what Gary Vee said about "you being the niche" I've come to realise this video gave a deep dive into it that idea.
Powerful stuff I am more excited to build my personal brand with the thoughts and advice given in this entire video.
    Cheers pal!

There might not be a right or wrong, yes or no, absolute answer. "It depends." On your situation, your business. For us, niching down was the best decision we made. In our case we niched down to an industry, instead of targeting all industries. You can always expand again after gaining traction and enough revenue. Perhaps, one question to ask is, what do I look at to determine if niching down is right for my business or not?

I am the intermediate person who messed everything up. Described it to a tee. However, other people post my content and get more engagement than I do. I don't understand. Things like that frustrate me and I get lost in that frustration. But I'm going to put the past aside and try again.

To me it really hit with the example of the room in an apartment, in a complex, …
All the time I was building the room first 🤯
    Feedback on the Setup:
I don’t like it. The direction of your body does not match the direction of your mind which triggers a sense of distraction.

I'm torn about this advice. I do agree that you can become a niche in yourself, but oftentimes the audience still knows what to expect.
From Dan Koe, I do expect this kind of how to best think about the creator economy-content.
And I'd be very confused if the next video would be about his passion for Tennis.
And the RUclips algoritm would be confused too. Should it be recommending Dan to online business enthusiasts or hobby tennis players?
Same goes for his examples like Hamza (men's excellence) and Ali Abdal (productivity-related).
While they do speak kind of broadly, they also tend to mostly speak of things related to their major focus.

This is a good observation. I get it because I suck at both niche and variety content...but I think Dan is suggesting that content creators will never lose by making more content. Content about anything, is better than no content. The process of making content will reveal the path forward. Essentially he's asking us to leap and the net will appear. But most people want creative certainties before they start creating.

I agree with you. Unless you are a celebrity or famous or like this guy and your brand is being all these things it is probably best in the context of RUclips to create separate channels for different topics. I also question personal brand unless you just desire to be personally famous is that how does Dan Koe Inc cash out? I would rather create separate channels and brands around my interests that I can sell at some point and the brand not be tied to me personally.

I’ve been watching your videos a lot and… I don’t know because as a CS major I’m genuinely struggling to see how i can “build a personal brand” with my cs skills. But I do want to try, even just to see if it works for me or not. I know I’ve been wallowing in self-pity these last few years, feeling like every other person is doing better than me and my dad shifting from job to job (sometimes having none) and that putting financial stress on my family. Obviously it’s not really my dads fault, I just don’t want to end up like that either.

    • @Kyier035
      @Kyier035 Год назад

I’ve been thinking about how I could build a brand around my cs skills as well and something I though of was to build a media presence around an app I’ll build(been digging real deep in Android development) and I think this is not only a way to asses interest in the idea but also show what I’ve learned. If interest picks up that’s a plus because then I’ll be able to address continue develop and have a group to test before an official release is set
I don’t know if this was helpful but there’s atleast that or maybe creating content around your experience as a cs student idk
