What puzzle me is that after speaking with my favorite shop owner he was adamant that 99% of customers who had bikes even with only one flip chip won't ever dare or care to try switching it 😅
He’s probably right! Maybe we could compare it to how 99% of people you buy a new pickup truck will never use its off road features, but it’s still there for the enthusiasts who want to maximize their experience! Check out 16:10 for my thoughts on geo adjustment
My old Intense M9 DH bike has a ton of adjustable parts, it was designed as a 26er, but was so adjustable that I refreshed it to 27.5 and now could go to a mullet. Bikes that are designed like this are amazingly versatile. Mix in suspension parts with platform valves and forks that can do multi-travel lengths on the fly are great for areas with long climbs and descents.
great video josh, very interesting hearing all of the details from your time with the bike. Really like what Marin is doing lately and what they're all about. keep 'em coming!
Although it is not crazy high, I think they are asking too much price wise. Marin was always a cheap(er) brand and it seems they are climbing the price slowly. This was one of their unique selling points: much (good) stuff for relatively low prices. It feels it has changed now... Imo for 5400 USD there are other brands that deliver similar or better specs even and are more known brands, thus, keeping their value more when trying to sell it again.
Loving the 2023 this season 😍😍😍 funnn bike… ive got a set of wheels /tires for long mellower trail days and a bombproof set of enduro wheels for race days and park / hardcore days. Love to see how that new one rides, even beefier! Dammmm…. Ive got this and the middlechild , zOoOOOoMm greatbikes.
@@99spokes I did two 25+ mile days back to back with 34mm enduro wheels and dual double down/ maxx grip tires... I ordered trail wheels the next day 😂 because it really is a pig on gravel- but it is very comfortable honestly, just wish i could fit a 210 and have it slammed... my biggest issue is the bend in the seat tube
Can't go wrong with the Middlechild. We have them as our hardtails and just met a trials rider who has one. Stoked to get them out for shredding this fall and winter when most of the bike parks are closed.
It’s definitely not a light bike! But like we talk about in the video, I think in the area where the new Alpine Trail is designed to excel, weight shouldn’t be a super high priority

I use the flip chip in my top fuel. I still can't tell if I'm actually noticing a difference or if it's the placebo effect.

Looks like a Transition, an adjustable one.

Nice! Two wheelsets is a great way to diversify a bike! Also stoked to hear from a fellow Middlechild fan, love that bike!

used to have the last gen Marin Alpine Trail XR but felt it was just too heavy. Only rode it a few months then switched back to Marin Rift Zone 2
