    Thanks for this very informative video. I'm still stuck at the step before printing, which is finding a good and affordable scanner. Maybe you did a video about that as well, since this video is from 2016. Going to have a look in your list 💖 I love it when artists share what they know with other artists. It's so much to figure out, so any help is welcome. Anyway, big thanks! Totally love your art. I think I pinned that hedgehog when I was looking for ideas and inspiration some months ago. I'm sure I've seen it before. Totally in love 💖

    Thank you for this video! I've been working towards having prints for my shop and this helped me a lot.
    I have millions of questions about the legal side of art business stuff, like taxes, filing as a personal business, etc. ( at least for the U.S) I'm not sure that would be a super interesting video but I'm constantly held back in progress by worrying and not knowing enough information about that kind of stuff.

      Legal advice I can't really give because I am not a lawyer. Google is your best friend though, I found a lot of the info to those questions there. I will keep posting videos like these and will try to address a few of those question.. or at least give a good direction to where you might find the answers.

    What about Print quality ? I know some companies that make prints and other items the quality of your original drops to where the image can be grainy or way different from the original image making it look cheap or unprofessional. How do you tackle that issue when you're going to make prints through a 3rd party ? Thank you so much Val for sharing this information ! It's SUPER useful as I continue my journey towards becoming a paid/profit artist and not just someone who just shares their work on Facebook and Instagram.

    • @Leontinevanvliet
      @Leontinevanvliet 8 лет назад

      i think the most important thing is to provide a high quality image of your work. that's where it all starts:) when i put my work in my print shop i make sure the scans are at least 600dpi. then i ordered one of my own prints from my shop and the quality was great.

    ~Heya,
    Thank you really much for doing this video! Have been struggling with this for a really long time now and this video just helped me out so much!
    Though I have a little question! I saw you're having an etsy-shop and I was wondering if you can recommend etsy at all? Since it seems to me that they take quite some money (not much as far I can tell but quite a bit) just for having your artwork on their side... Or if you'd rather suggest setting up an own website for example (of course completely done by oneself, so no/only low costs) where you can offer and sell your prints? :)
    Thank you so very much and have a very nice day!
    ~Moony

    Do you take pictures of your art yourself? And how? What printer and paper do you recommend? Who created your website? Who does your prints?

    • @ArtalaCarte
      @ArtalaCarte  7 лет назад

      Every artists has their own way of doing things... so what works for one, might not work for another. It all about testing things out. I either scan or take a photo of my work depending on what type of artwork it is. It is pretty time consuming to get just the right shot. As so website, I do mine myself. Printers were challenging.. most will send you a sample of papers and print quality. Good Luck.

    • @3xand3r49

      Mattheau Perry I'd say use references, many artists do that, but use many sources, pull from everywhere and make it your own if you have trouble coming up with ideas. another option would be inspecration challenges like drawing something based off of a word... or random lines and turn it into something

      You can get really good photo printers that will print up to 13 x 19, though I don't know what size the owl is. Anything bigger then that and you usually need a print shop.

    Do you have any advice on pricing art? Most of my supplies were free or handed down.

    • @3xand3r49
      @3xand3r49 7 лет назад

      Dark Dusk price based on what you would spend if you bought the supplies yourself. my mom taught me this, because say you sell a piece and someone wants another of that piece.... if you had to buy supplies again you would be losing money in charging the same amount. this is especially true for arts like crochet or knitting...
