Hi! I'm Quin and have been living in my van FULL-TIME w/ my 2 CATS, Atlas and Otto, for the last THREE YEARS (Feb 2021!) After working for seven years in a corporate position as a marketing director and event producer for a magazine, I decided to leave my position, take a risk and jump into #solofemalevanlife w/ my two cats.
After two years of doing winter van life to snowboard… I am through. Listen… winter van life was great but to be honest, mentally, I was my worst self. Winter in the van was HARD and I finally am listening to my body and I am doing things a little differently this winter….
So, I am taking my van and my cat Atlas, to their THIRD COUNTRY…. Mexico!!

You n3ed to be so careful. I just read about two brothers and their friend that went over into Mexico. They went missing. They found their truck burned and several weeks later they found their bodies in a well. It's very dangerous.

We went to LaPaz 10 years ago with our 3 kids. Flew into Cabo and drove the 2 1/2 hours in the dark, middle of the night. Easily the wildest drive I've ever done. 2 lane 'highways, white crosses lined the road, burros in the middle of the street eating garbage and the darkest night I've ever experienced. Also one of the best trips we've ever had.

Your care is warranted. Especially from the border to the campsite. It's an awesome country, but the closer the border the more cautious I tend to be.

If I were 30 years younger, I would love to try traveling in a van...at least for a while.

New van, is it also an AWD? Same water volume, lol. It's good you are travelling with others. I am not from US or Mexico but I have heard about Baja and recall images of lots of deep sand. Have you thought about carrying recovery tracks in-case you get stuck in sand or deep gravel? They /it would only have to work once. I see pretty rugged looking ones made of strips of heavy rubber wire-cabled together. Yeah, space and weight. I got surprised when I drove my van into some deceptively deep fairly coarse gravel one time. Boom, buried up the axles. 4x4 was useless. Luckily someone came along and pulled us out with a snatch strap. Actually, an air bag jack would have been handy then too!
