Former Mormon here… I attended BYU-Idaho for a year, and during that entire year, I’m not even sure if I SAW a Black person. The fact that so many students were saying no, they didn’t have any Black friends isn’t surprising in the slightest. You’d have to go out of your way to even **meet** someone who is Black on these campuses. 🤷🏻♀️ Also, why oh why would anyone choose to attend any of the BYUs if they weren’t Mormon? I didn’t even know that was an option until I watched this video, but I seriously don’t understand it. BYU is awful enough when you HAVE drunk the koolaid. I can’t imagine attending it knowing it was all bullsh*t.
I think that both attending byu and being Mormon are very personal choices and many people go to byu because it’s a safe and clean campus not because they are Mormon or racist or support what others support. If you are actually familiar with more than social media and a few areas in the USA, you would know that there are many places with an a more common race regardless or political views or religion. There are no laws or rules saying certain races are not allowed in certain states. Your desire to “meet” someone should not be based on race. Have an amazing day 💖💖
I have mad respect for these kids. Utah is so not diverse. It was difficult & very uncomfortable for me to visit and most people think I’m “white”. I don’t know how they do it and I don’t know how one of my best friends live there. Definitely not my thing. 🥴
It's actually really easy to visit there if you aren't racist. You just treat humans you see the same and value them the same. And don't obsess about seeing people who look like you. Try it some time. It's liberating.

I'm Asian male, and I went to BYU Hawaii campus for my college. While I met so many people who just couldn't be nicer (for example, a super-talented singer White girl Beth was ALWAYS nice and smiling whenever she saw me... Hi Beth!), there were also many occasions I felt very subtle discrimination that made me very uncomfortable.
Can you be specific? And please have the honor of not making up anything. I lived in Salt Lake City Utah for the majority of my life and was around a lot of Asian and Asian Americans and I never saw any racism towards them whatsoever. Just my experience.

These young people are trying to get to the core of others(people thoughts, feelings, and self inner responses) to formulated an quantitative data on certain behaviors. This is an excellent solution on their thesis, and write a book on the statistics on the fundamentals in order to make new awareness in culture mindset. Bravo to all students. One last thing. I had just finished mine PhD in Healthcare Administration in January 2022. Next time when you ask questions your group should break it down into 6 categories With the who, what , where, when and why, and how come. I was raised a member of the Mormon cult, served on a mission and spent some time at BYU back in the late 70's. I had a great time especially when the Star Palace (disco) opened. Having been ridiculed throughout different times during my membership for asking serious legitimate questions, regarding the history of Mormonism, I have nothing but respect for these students. Anyone willing to learn about the real life of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, will realize that they really started a cult. There are some very fine people in the church, and the leadership are very inviting, until you start asking tough questions.
As an active member I definitely agree that there are cult like elements but I disagree that it is a cult. Regardless, I'm grateful for what those young men and women are doing. Adds reasons for me to be glad I chose to attend my local state college instead.

I really love how these issues have different opinions/ answers from different individuals. The engagements are so nice! The purpose of closed-ended questions is effective and you can see that this is not a matter of answering 'yes' or 'no'. Some have follow-up answers and their views are spectacular!
The term that should be applied is 'Disingenuous'... As they said, BYU is mostly Mormon. It's also nn Utah and gathers most of it's students from the North and West. How many 'Black' people are in Coeur d'Alene Idaho? Lewiston? How about Walla Walla Washington? Pendleton Oregon? Montana.. the entire state. It's a conservative Christian school, and people are shocked by conservative Christian answers. Again, MONTANA - the entire forking state - ask virtually any resident of Montana how many black friends they have and of course they'll sound Racist because for whatever reason Black people don't want to live in Montana...

He would work unpaid for a certain amount of time to pay off his debt. It wasn't about racism or oppression.

I'm the type of person that has no problem asking questions and wanting to have a conversation. I'm a neurodivergent (ADHD), and sometimes forget about feelings when I'm wanting to solve a problem or really engrossed in learning something. Gotten me into trouble because I'm great at just asking and challenging thoughts (my own and others!) which make people uncomfortable. I view it as I'm learning as much as I can so I can be a better person and always grow. Glad others are asking about important topics, not just talking at others!
The fact that they call themselves menaces shows that they are trying to further divide people instead of trying to find common ground, educate and unite people. They too were polite and calm. But the liberal protesters kept trying to steal their equipment and try to destroy it. I've also seen liberals literally assault the reporters and causing bodily harm. And when the cops come to arrest them, they scream that they are innocent even though they were caught red handed. I once saw a guy get his head bashed in by a bike lock from a ANTIFA member. What did that guy do to deserve almost getting killed? Absolutely nothing; he was trying to break up a fight between the Proud Boys and ANTIFA. The assaulter was sentenced to 5 years for assault and battery. Ironically enough, he was an ethics teacher at a local college.

But at its core its the observation that methods of historical racism can still be seen written into certain laws and rules, essentially racism can sometimes still be present within the system itself today, not just in people. If I were to guess, these black students were sent to BYU by there parents who wanted them to receive a good education. They may not have had a choice.
BYU isn't exactly Harvard, so there's that 🙄 There are good colleges all over the world. As an American you can go to college all the way to the PHD level for FREE in Germany and classes are in English. You can go to medical school in Havana Cuba. They have one of the best medical schools on earth. Their program starts as a freshman in college, it's a 6 year program I believe and your degree as a certified doctor is honored almost everywhere on earth, including America. You just have to pass an equivalency exam which most all graduates of the Cuban program find to be easy. I'm American and had a scholarship to an Ivy League school my freshman year. I hated it, the racism was toxic and cartoonishly hilarious to me. Yt Americans don't understand how uncivilized and ignorant they are. When you see it from that perspective it's embarrassing for them not us. So I transferred to a college in Rome. At 19 yrs old I left for Rome and 14 years later I'm still here, married to a beautiful man inside and out, with 4 little angelic daughters, deliriously happy. I'm Asian male, and I went to BYU Hawaii campus for my college. While I met so many people who just couldn't be nicer (for example, a super-talented singer White girl Beth was ALWAYS nice and smiling whenever she saw me... Hi Beth!), there were also many occasions I felt very subtle discrimination that made me very uncomfortable.
Can you be specific? And please have the honor of not making up anything. I lived in Salt Lake City Utah for the majority of my life and was around a lot of Asian and Asian Americans and I never saw any racism towards them whatsoever. Just my experience.

This is an excellent solution on their thesis, and write a book on the statistics on the fundamentals in order to make new awareness in culture mindset.

I was raised a member of the Mormon cult, served on a mission and spent some time at BYU back in the late 70's. I had a great time especially when the Star Palace (disco) opened. Having been ridiculed throughout different times during my membership for asking serious legitimate questions, regarding the history of Mormonism, I have nothing but respect for these students. Anyone willing to learn about the real life of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, will realize that they really started a cult. There are some very fine people in the church, and the leadership are very inviting, until you start asking tough questions.

@@daddykarlmarx6183 Just to give feedback on this, I started watching his Behavior Control video and stopped about 7 minutes in - not because I emotionally rejected (or at least thats what i would like to say) their analysis but because I feel that the "Mormon" experience is very different by locale.
Just as reference I grew up in the Midwest of the U.S and served a mission in Brazil. I feel like organizationally speaking it's not meant to be a cult but perhaps people in certain areas have turned it as such? I mean the experiences I've had with Church members in various parts of the U.S and in Brazil have been rather different (i.e Idaho vs California vs South Dakota)
Don't get me wrong, I'm not blindly following this faith/religion. And I don't agree with some of the things that the Church and its leaders propagates. But simply based on the core principles, I believe that the Church has more right going for then wrong.

He would work unpaid for a certain amount of time to pay off his debt. It wasn't about racism or oppression.

I'm the type of person that has no problem asking questions and wanting to have a conversation. I'm a neurodivergent (ADHD), and sometimes forget about feelings when I'm wanting to solve a problem or really engrossed in learning something. Gotten me into trouble because I'm great at just asking and challenging thoughts (my own and others!) which make people uncomfortable. I view it as I'm learning as much as I can so I can be a better person and always grow. Glad others are asking about important topics, not just talking at others!
The fact that they call themselves menaces shows that they are trying to further divide people instead of trying to find common ground, educate and unite people. I hate to break it to you, but I've seen plenty of liberals act just as crazy as racists. I've seen videos of conservatives going to BLM or ANTIFA rallies, and asking simple questions. They too were polite and calm. But the liberal protesters kept trying to steal their equipment and try to destroy it. I've also seen liberals literally assault the reporters and causing bodily harm. And when the cops come to arrest them, they scream that they are innocent even though they were caught red handed.
I once saw a guy get his head bashed in by a bike lock from a ANTIFA member. What did that guy do to deserve almost getting killed? Absolutely nothing; he was trying to break up a fight between the Proud Boys and ANTIFA. The assaulter was sentenced to 5 years for assault and battery. Ironically enough, he was an ethics teacher at a local college.
Let's talk about how the founder of this 'religion' believed that black people should not be allowed to be Mormon because he thought black skin is cursed.

Whatever you think of mormonism Smith was an abolitionist, was supportive of black members and even ran for president on the basis of eliminating slavery by 1850. Now Brigham Young believed what you said but Smith was pretty progressive at the time in regards to racial relations

But at its core its the observation that methods of historical racism can still be seen written into certain laws and rules, essentially racism can sometimes still be present within the system itself today, not just in people. If I were to guess, these black students were sent to BYU by there parents who wanted them to receive a good education. They may not have had a choice.
BYU isn't exactly Harvard, so there's that 🙄 There are good colleges all over the world. As an American you can go to college all the way to the PHD level for FREE in Germany and classes are in English. You can go to medical school in Havana Cuba. They have one of the best medical schools on earth. Their program starts as a freshman in college, it's a 6 year program I believe and your degree as a certified doctor is honored almost everywhere on earth, including America. You just have to pass an equivalency exam which most all graduates of the Cuban program find to be easy. I'm American and had a scholarship to an Ivy League school my freshman year. I hated it, the racism was toxic and cartoonishly hilarious to me. Yt Americans don't understand how uncivilized and ignorant they are. When you see it from that perspective it's embarrassing for them not us. So I transferred to a college in Rome. At 19 yrs old I left for Rome and 14 years later I'm still here, married to a beautiful man inside and out, with 4 little angelic daughters, deliriously happy. You don't have to put up with yt America's mental neurosis. It's a waste of life that is unecessary. I say go find a place where they are NOT
