    Deathcrush emulation is ok, of course it's quite easy to emulate. DMDS guitar tone is obviously less distorted and more reverbed. If you hear attentively there's some slight flanger. Also, because you saw a picture of Euronymous with X or Y equipment doesn't imply that he recorded DMDS with said equipment.

      i don't know if you're implying this or not, but for those who wanna know, euronymous didn't use reverb pedal. he used digital delay and hallway echoes for the natural reverb sound.

    I love my SD-1 into my HM-2 - just like Euro used - it creates the same kind of over-compressed sound that screeches and cuts just right. Put it into anything tube and gain-pushed and it'll rip. Even cooler is the use of the 40th Anniversary SD-1, which is black, appropriately.

    Great recreation. It think the tone on especially DMDS had less mids and more extreme highs. I found that if you crank the high all the way down on the HM-2, it gets the sound very much like his. The high-pot on the HM-2 really only affects the high mids, I think thats the way he used it and why it sounds kinda scooped.

    Great Lotr! Crushing tone, dirt and pretty harsh, for the sake of bring in our ears the "phatos" behind this music aka the Black Metal that in late '80s and beginning of '90s becomes really a kind of music aside of the proto (wonderful) Black/Speedy Thrash, crust and hardcore even sometimes Metal or what we call "First Wave of black Metal".
    I found this tone a perfect re-definition of the Mayhem very early era, so Deathcrush, Carnage ecc ecc.
    I must Say that I do not regret to had buy Ugritone Trve Cabs even I don't think I Will ever use at least the "Oldschool BM" ir pack for my own Black Metal but I must Say that with the "Mysterious" IR preset they nail 100% The Mysteriis Guitar tone soooo bad. And Just sounds likes so even with some really harsh and not so well made amp Sims. The "whole" thing Is really in the IR and I mean Also the ambience and the Little spring verb resonance. Impressive, really, I Just can't believe that I can hear myself really dig into this masterpieces riffs finally so well and so...true moreover with zero analog Gear in the chain, except for my own Guitar of course 😂 A gift for any guitarist that found this album an inspiration or even the reason why they buy their First Guitar and when Ugritone put discount on their own e-shop this Is stuff that you can buy for 20 euro or less, so a cool IR loader+the whole Oldschool BM IR Pack. I was so luky and as always so patient that I bought It full price Just a bunch of weeks later they release this interesting "3D" cabs IR loader along their First IR pack that was right on the Oldschool Black Metal ones (followed almost immediatelybby the Oldschool Death and Thrash metal IR packs)
    Anyway great job man, your work on presets and the selection of the gear for your demos is always accurate, and even for some details, and "some" I mean the details that helps Guitar work to cut in a mix and stands out on solo riffing GTR Jams, you're keeping "things on a certain track" every demo Is really about show and play different Sims and Amps and really care to point out that each own has got his own character. And gear demos SHOULD be about that: help people to get an idea of wich stuff they Will see more good for theyr own tastes and music writing Styles NOT shows that with a meticolous tweak and sometimes post editing even the most nasty and hard to keep in control Gear can sounds not so bad Indeed, can sounds so killer, so RAW and crushy or full, tight and chunky chugging or all except a straight 'till can and must sounds like "wrong" GEAR DEMONSTRATION! keep the good work as so man, thanks again, see ya soon!

    It's been a while since my last comment and I thought I'd at least share a little input on your attempt at the Deathcrush tone. I wanna preface that I'm not a professional in music production, but I digress... It's not bad for an attempt but I definitely see room for massive improvement. Deathcrush sounded more overdriven than that and I feel like your attempt gives it more of a punky kind of tone as opposed to the chainsaw-sounding Death Metal tone that Euronymous evidently had in mind. Again, not bad for an attempt but I see room for a lot of improvement.

      Hey bro, I used a Plexi preamp in the RM50 by Randall. Treble/Mids/Bass all just above noon. Amp was around 9am and I mic'd with a 57 about an inch back off of the edge of the cone loaded with a vintage 30 for warmth. There was no post-processing in the box for the guitar tracks, all guitar, pedals and a mic'd amp. The amp was recorded a lot softer than people would imagine.

    Just out of curiosity, but what made you play yours on a LP with P-90 pickups instead of the humbuckers, most likely PAF’s? P-90s do get a great growl and fuller than the average single coil. Anyway I do like the idea that you did that. It’s a great! So for all the faned frets, active everything, 10 strings on a guitar, douche metal guys out there....you can play the heaviest of heaveys on Les Paul Jr. And a Standard TELE. Quite honestly if you cant do it with six than why bother. Plugged in to Plexi Stack and a jcm800 stack with just the natural distortion from the amp and usually have a tube screamer before going in amp with all knobs on 0 and level knob to 10. With maybe 2 notches of gain but def not necessary. And it can be as heavy as any other rig out there. Stacking already completely mid scooped metal zones with obsurd gain levels that’s not the right way to go about that. People conflate Gain with Overdrive/distortion/crunch and most of the time the overdriven with booster Marshall plexi comes out as good as can be on sound but with higher volumes. Everything’s possibly!!!!

    • @GuitarFromTheTomb
      @GuitarFromTheTomb  3 года назад

      To be honest I just used the LP with P90's because it is the closest guitar I own to Euronymous. I love P90's though, an evil kind of snarl. You are so right about tele's etc!!!!I like the way you think, give me an overdriven plexi anyday
